    You are a genius! I thought this video was a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I tried the same exact thing. And it worked! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. BMW has a transmission module that wont work properly without the proper amps. Even though it starts fine, thats not enough to get the transmission out of the fault. I had a transmission that shifted rough and had the yellow gear limp mode. Same exact problem. I suggest anyone reading this to change the transmission fluid ever 100k miles at a minimum. Many experts will tell you not to change the fluid. I took my BMW in and the dealer said that the fluid is a lifetime fluid. I laughed and said, yeah right. Is there such a thing as lifetime fluid? He agreed. They changed it, and told me your transmission is toast because it has metal in it. $200 later for a drain and refill of the transmission fluid. I then put a new battery 900 cranking amps in the vehicle and it runs better than it has ever run.
    I almost gave the car away for 100.00 to salvage. Don't believe others before you try a couple of easy fixes. I have now driven the car long distances and no problems. Thanks again for showing us all this video! You are a life saver! God bless you!

    Thanks for the video about the transmission limp mode. It scared me, but it was just a low battery for me. I figured it out thanks to this video. Probably caused by a short on my power door lock circuit. Probably the trunk harness, the trunk light dims when I move the trunk up and down.

    Thank you so much! So I had to attach the box to the trunk cables, it would turn off limp mode, then I reattached my battery and attached the starter box to the engine bay grounds and it starts up no limp mode every time. A 900w battery should take care of it. Again thank you so much!

    My buddy has a e36 328i auto, the car only moves in 1 2 3 low gears if u put it in D it doesnt move but reverse works and can only hit about 4.5k rpm across all 3 gears if u pass above, it goes then immediately cuts down losing power and going into limb mode.
    What's the cause behind such an issue? Could it be ecu related? Or just straight up blown transmission

    Note to all. E46 and e36 etc, battery fucks everything. Auto transmission especially, any issues with a battery or shit battery, it will affect and pop up codes like no tomorrow. Any issues or engine light, EML etc ALWAYS JUMP START PRIOR if can't use another battery, get your friend round. The ultimate test. Any if a shit battery in a inner city area, with constant low idle, once a week until replace jump on the motorway to get revs up in high gears for 15 mins until replaced

    I've been using that same AutoZone battery for over 5 years in my 94' 325I.
    The transmission light flickered for a second and the car died. It did that 5 times while coming back from market today.
    The light came on and went back out with the key in run. It then stayed on when I turned the blower on high.
    I didn't want to start it as I'm afraid it might damage something.
    I am going to try that battery.
    I have had a lot of electical problems recently too like my 18 but obc crapped out and my fuel level sender reads half when its full. And now no rear defroster so I am led to believe this sucky battery might be what has caused my run of bad luck.
    I waited for the trans light to come on since it kept acting like it wanted to with the engine not running and it eventually did. Weird. Now it wont start. It also was running a high idle, about 1200 rpm and it would change to a steady 1400 rpm.

    never put a wrench or any metal tool on top or near the top of the battery. you have that huge metal wrench on the battery, if it gets bumpd and touches the positive terminal and any grounded metal at the same time it will weld itself to your car, or worst case it will explode. pleases be careful and don't teach people bad habits.

    • @BradenCarlsonAutos
      @BradenCarlsonAutos  5 місяців тому

      Almost every time I do this in a video I make a comment about people like you coming into the comments lol. This isn't teaching anyone a bad habit. I understand that it's possible for it to get bumped and short the terminals, but you'd have to be really stupid for that to happen. I like to think I'm not.
      You want to point out some bad habits? Go watch the millions of videos where people work on cars from underneath on just a jack.

      @@BradenCarlsonAutos really? people like me? what kind of person is that? someone with compassion and willing to put in the effort to look out for your viewers? To short that wrench all you would have to do is turn your head and look away for a moment and accidently bump another tool or something, if the wrench moves over 6 inches and shorts it could cause an explosion... wow what an impossible scenario! that is one for Ripleys or Guiness for sure. ya that is actually very very likely to happen. You are that one guy in mechanics class... Some people just can't be helped when they think they are better than you eh? You broke a cardinal rule of mechanics, something every kid learns in his first day in class. You are teaching people dangerous work habits that can damage their car and tools and possibly lead to serious injury. Never meant to imply you are stupid, but your response proves otherwise. FYI I would never offer advice to someone I thought was stupid, so you are just projecting your own crap on me.
