If you have to run cactus rears on black carpet you’ll basically always be fighting for steering as they are super grippy. So either change the rear tires for Mezzos/Nessis/Fuzzbites. Or lift the roll center at the rear up!!! Then go to longer camber links at the rear if necessary and play with laying down or standing up shocks. Then start adjusting the front. If your front tyres are wearing a lot faster than the rears, your car still wants to push and your setup balance is off. (Too much rear grip vs front) Before sticking a lot of weights in the front end of the car, try a softer spring first. And go from there.
Ugh, super glue in the eye...I cant even imagine... My first two RC cars had 27mhz AM radios and 3 speed mechanical speed controllers, electronics have come a long way, but you can still have a lot of fun with some really basic (cheap) gear.
I have one but i always hear mine is Really competive so I have decided not to get involved Luckily on sundays they have adminsion to drive on the inside or outside track
Kev, just wanna say I appreciate you keeping the rc community alive and well. Your channel is one of the first channels I subbed to like 12 years ago when I was super huge into the hobby. I have since had 2 kids a dog and got married. Rc has taken a hard back seat. Used to race back then. But watching you makes me wanna grist off the old gear and get back out there
Love it. Just love it. Smiled the whole video. Kev you’re such a great guy letting that 6 year old kid drive your cheaper RTR buggy. That’s how kids get addicted to the hobby! Having fun with positive experiences with great guys like you, and the crew you had at the track. Keep these videos coming my man! We love em! 🤩
Credit to Max, he's 6 and doing fairly decent for a 6 year old. Plus it survived all his abuse to it, thats the perfect entry level racing rc for an event like this for a begeinner.
You know, I started RC Cars with a WLToys 14401 Buggy, then an Arrma Granite and even an expensive 1:10 Touring Car for racing. In hindsight, I had the most fun with the $90 WLToys 14401 car. I could run on- and offroad with it and the spares are dirtcheap.
The fun starts when you get a big 1/5th scale basher. I had fun with my WLToys, HJX & Rlaarlo. But 1/5 scale bashers is where it's at. They can take on anything you throw at them.
Love to see you testing Yokomo 🎉 Have the older brother of the SO2.0 and damn I love it. Haven’t had such a tough racing buggy yet. On the SO2.0 you can use the 4WD Front tires on the Yokomo front wheels, should have also more grip
Kev, I don't think it's worth it. It looks like the same run and gun fun at roughly a quarter the price. I know the other one his higher end components but unless your good enough that your literally winning every time. This was a fun video!❤
When you drive the two it is a big difference. The ease of driving becomes apparent. I always thought that the cheaper ones could compete. They can but you struggle more for no reason. Spending the extra money is 100% worth it if you are racing. The cheaper one eventually falls apart and it's harder to get parts for if you even can.
great job Kevin, something you can also do is glue the sidewalls on the fronts, only like a small bead, should take away any grip rolling if you have that and initial steering. But it looks like you got a potential winner there. Smooth and Slow is Fast! Keep it on all 4s!
Great entry into a lifestyle hobby! Nice track! Love the kyosho thumbnail! I have a 8ight XT kit on the way. And LRP engines in the mail! Even their .21. Hoghly recommend!
My first hobby level RC was Nitro. I just loved the sound of that engine and the smoke. It let people know I wasn't playing with some "toy" I got at WalMart. Also loved knowing that when it ran out of fuel, it was just a matter of putting more in and I was good for another 20-30 minutes. My next RC was electric, 4S capable....I popped the tires doing donuts. Then I went all in and got a 1/5 Scale Gasoline RC....was a crappy HPI knockoff....jumped a tiny ramp and broke the shocks. I mean, Kevin jumps massive skateboard ramps and lands RCs just fine....nope....I jump something that that gets it maybe a couple feet off the ground and things break. Friend of mine has an expensive DJI drone he wants me to try out....if he knew my history with RC vehicles, he would change his mind LOL
Kevin mate you have really stepped it up recent content and your back to my top 3 youtubers ever. I'm brutally honest and you most likely don't care about my opinion but with that said max was killing your chanel in my personal opinion. Keep up the good work mate . Crashed my infraction yesterday 😢
i dont even work on my fpv freestyle drone, this seems like a nightmare that would make me smash up my entire shed lol hahahaha, OH love the videos man
hmmmm Kevin this is crazy ill pay R28 335,15 South African Rand to own anything like this ever in my life you have lots off fun always XD thanks for the videos I love them all
Good stuff kev. I have to admit I have zero experience of Yokomo stuff. That RTR or cheap version looks a good car for beginners, just like you said. As for the race results, at least you know that it's not your driving Kev.
I agree i still have my 1/8 Truggy she a noisy one with tuned pipe i dont ise it because is a discounted brand so im thinking in buying a Nitro Rally car they are just fun to watch and hear 🔥
I have both a losi 2.0 nitro race buggy that was fully built for racing with top dollar components, bought it from a friend that needed money at the time got a great deal and also have a pretty old ofna ultra buggy also nitro with the legendary. 28 engine absolutely a torque monster, the ofna despite its weight has been so reliable and dependable that it's still my favorite buggy ever, the losi is actually going to be sold pretty soon as I don't really drive it much at all. And when it comes to being competitive on the track it's mostly about the driver, I've raced my nitro associated mini mgt ( monster truck) in truggy open classes and it's made a top 3 every time, always nice to hurt feelings at the track...😎
Wow from last to first Thats why i always say tyres are everything just like on a real car Did you also try to race it without that rear spoiler ? It shout give more front grip and more top speed
I have a year old arrma typon 3s, still don't have 3s batteries yet only 2s... its been great, no issues at all I just put hoons on it about a month ago. it goes up to 50 which is good cheap, Im pretty sure it was only 300-350 dollars but its been a great rc and I would highly recommend it for someone who likes to bash for cheap
Interesting comparison, I started racing on a Team Losi Racing 22T 4.0 which i tried to build it myself going by what the book said but it didn't work out well and it was very difficult to drive so i traded it away. And bought myself a prebuilt Team Associated B74.1 from my dad which was built by him and ran great and was a 13.5T spec 4wd racer but we don't run it to often since he been busy with Nursing school. I'm currently not doing 1\10 scale racing i'm more of a basher myself and i plan to buy more bashers than racers. But great comparison anyways Kev.
so basically the take away from this is get a RTR and do some upgrades because you can get in and build up to being a fast car. and the inexpensive one could be just a quick with the right electrics which you had to buy for the expensive one anyway.
I was surprised to see that the Yokomo has similar, if not the same, rear hub design as Team Associated. I'm starting to wonder if any other makes have gone with that same style hub.
What if you put some of the electric upgrades from the 1500 car and put them in the 375 car to give it a value of ~800...? Because it wasn't far off for a 1/4 of the price from the box 🤔🤔🤔😁👍

Wish I had a Local RC racing club, it looks like lots of fun.
You do, all you have to do is be the creator
I have one but i always hear mine is Really competive so I have decided not to get involved Luckily on sundays they have adminsion to drive on the inside or outside track
DIY kits are great, as when it breaks you kinda know how to replace and rebuild the car back.
You can get the cheaper rookie one in kit form as well
Yep

Kevin always works so hard on these videos for us viewers, thanks Kevin ❤

Kevin, the RC GOAT! Never disappoints with his charisma and passion for RC! Always entertaining. I never miss a video when it pops up.
6:08 who else went "uh oh" when Kevvie said "now it's time to glue on the tires"? hahaha we ALL know he's a "pro" at it hahahahah
Love it. Just love it. Smiled the whole video. Kev you’re such a great guy letting that 6 year old kid drive your cheaper RTR buggy. That’s how kids get addicted to the hobby! Nice touch showing the diff oil bottle, it answered almost any possible questions
Loving the on-board shots, it really does show the diffdifference between the cars👍
Thats the best build video I’ve seen. Quick and informative. Good job Kev.
Been waiting for this type of video for ages!! Thanks kev!
Kiddy max is just like big max
Just like the xmaxx and minimaxx!
@@slash_kid_214 yes!!
Love the mustard colour. Great video kev. Very interesting. Entertaining as ever. 🎉
Awesome vid, Kev. Great work. Looking forward to an Isle Of Man update.
Credit to Max, he's 6 and doing fairly decent for a 6 year old. Plus it survived all his abuse to it, thats the perfect entry level racing rc for an event like this for a begeinner.
Thanks for another great video Kev! My favorite part of the day!

kev i love your content keep up the good work
I really like the longer style video. I'd have to imagine it's easier then making a 2-3 part video series. 👍🏼
I really enjoyed this man. I love your content but it was nice to see something different than just bashing and breaking RCs
Keep up the amazing work Kev we love you from Nigeria 🇳🇬
One of the best videos youve done, Kev. Informative and entertaining. Epic!
Yes… perfect… multiple days, multiple setups awesome way to convey their difference… all in one video. Nice Kev!
Glad you liked it!
Good tip regarding saftey classes and glue. We only get one set of eyes!
Shock assembly tip: use a small piece of wood (ie: a popsicle stick) between the shock shaft and whatever metal gripping device you're using.
More racing and upgrading videos please. These are by far the most entertaining to see the progression.
Those on board shots were mega kev
Took rc racing.back up after a 30.year break
Do it with my son now and loving it
Great video fella
I just bought my kids the new BL-2S Rustler 4x4 and they love it. Their only complaint is it pulls hard to the left
Love to see you testing Yokomo 🎉 Have the older brother of the SO2.0 and damn I love it. Haven’t had such a tough racing buggy yet.
On the SO2.0 you can use the 4WD Front tires on the Yokomo front wheels, should have also more grip
Love these videos! All cars can put a smile on your face, preferably nitros...
Love that no one mentioned the typo in the title love you kev
Watching this makes me want to go rc racing. Kev makes his videos to help us do the same stuff! Keep it up man love the content
Kev, I don't think it's worth it. It looks like the same run and gun fun at roughly a quarter the price. I know the other one his higher end components but unless your good enough that your literally winning every time. This was a fun video!❤

I've got a competition Kyosho mp10tki2. They really drive awesome and are really tough.
great job Kevin, something you can also do is glue the sidewalls on the fronts, only like a small bead, should take away any grip rolling if you have that and initial steering. But it looks like you got a potential winner there. Smooth and Slow is Fast! Keep it on all 4s!
On the tires you can glue the sidewalls. Giving stronger sidewall
Really enjoyed this content Kev.
Thanks for showing what it could take to get into racing from both perspectives.
thanks Kev, these are the kinds of video's I enjoy. time to introduce grand kids and even my wide (who likes running around the yard,) to RC cars.
Great video, would love to see you slowly upgrade the RTR and how it would improve its times. Say spend £100 each week on upgrading it.
Great entry into a lifestyle hobby! Nice track! Love the kyosho thumbnail! I have a 8ight XT kit on the way. And LRP engines in the mail! Even their .21. Hoghly recommend!
Love your channel and content good morning my friend from South Carolina! I really love the build videos as well mate!
didnt think we would get such a classic style Kevin video! really enjoyed the journey! :)
Great to see kev supporting Rochester RC
great shop :)
😅 Super cool, i wish we had such a club in my country 😢
Maybe one day
Thanks for that infovideo🎉
Epic build lapse!! Spot on good work 👌
Crazy nice video Kev! 🎉❤

Come to Essex Carpet Clash - this sunday. great etiquette and you'll be more than welcome!

Thanks for the video can't wait for more isle of mann content
You can also use the crimp portion of wire strippers and it won’t damage the shock
All those famous UA-camrs. You my friend are lucky.
I just wanted to say thanks I'm watching for a while now hope you get the record thanks Jeremy
4:28 , yea thats the safest and best way to do it, with a screwdriver on the end of it.
i dont even work on my fpv freestyle drone, this seems like a nightmare that would make me smash up my entire shed lol hahahaha, OH love the videos man
Nice job, Kevin! That looks like fun!
Nice to see a rare good video without intentionally breaking good rc vehicles.
Love the new racing buggy, would love to see more of it!
Absolutely love when kev says dont use pliers on the shock
Me: 😅😅 do it everytime
hmmmm Kevin this is crazy ill pay R28 335,15 South African Rand to own anything like this ever in my life you have lots off fun always XD thanks for the videos I love them all
Interesting! Great Video, please more "VS"- Videos. And more "competition"-Cars also. :) Thx! Keep on and have a nice evening.
Love your racing videos. The Yokomo is a brilliant car.
It really is!
Love the build vids kev
Sup kev love the content keep it up 👍
Great job racing, Max!
I would love to see a build and review on the Schumacher LD3. Looks like an awesome buggy!
On Board Shots. Nice Job 😇😅
good camera placement ay??
Good stuff kev. I have to admit I have zero experience of Yokomo stuff. That RTR or cheap version looks a good car for beginners, just like you said. As for the race results, at least you know that it's not your driving Kev.
18:35 pro grabbing reflex! He didn't even look at the car that was coming just moved!
What’s that Red Bull F1 on your shelf Kev? Looks sick, hope to see it in a vid soon!
If your talking about the yellow one then he has make a video on it about 5 months ago, just search kevin talbot f1. 😀
That’s not this one, I’m talking about the one that you can see above the table in the beginning of the vid, a blue one with classic RB livery
its a bigger version ill do a video at some point :)
Yay!
Don't take this the wrong way, but you are actually a pretty good driver 😂👍🏻
How dare you lol
What a fast little beast ❤,allmost right of the box 💪
that yellow looks dope!
I will build one 💪🏼
Thx kev for the nice video
Yo Kevin always works so hard on videos for us let’s all give him a clap 👏
mr talbot just a suggestion. can you do cheap vs expensive videos? theyre so much fun and cool. love the vids.
When are you going to make more videos on the kyosho buggies and truggy and race them?
Love the race content!
Nitro is still fun tho
True
It's the glory
I agree i still have my 1/8 Truggy she a noisy one with tuned pipe i dont ise it because is a discounted brand so im thinking in buying a Nitro Rally car they are just fun to watch and hear 🔥
Nice knowing I can start somewhere atleast at some point without draining my pockets
that yellow paint looks good!
Did you also try to race it without that rear spoiler ?
It shout give more front grip and more top speed
Yeah, first of the slowest group of all cars there that day. He wasn’t racing the same group as the previous races.
Kev , use some heat shrink tubing over some old long nose pliers for shock absorber grips , works a treat if you double up on the tubing 👌🏼

Looks like the built buggy has a much lower centre of gravity? That’s going to make a big difference.
I was surprised to see that the Yokomo has similar, if not the same, rear hub design as Team Associated. I'm starting to wonder if any other makes have gone with that same style hub.
13:41 that dude straight up took you out and didn’t even stop 🤦🏻
#22:48 what was that 🧐
Great video kevin. and nice driving
Love yours videos Kevin! Can i ask if you are from Talboot?
I'm surprised Kevin doesn't have a shock vacuum chamber. Not a must, but after I bought one, don't know how I lived without one.
