The little space above the microwave I think we just keep empty just because it looks good in our opinion
Why you can put knick knacks on top,but it is pretty
When Niknak’s are behind the trim it just looks out of place IMO. At least with an actual cubby for displaying Niknak’s it looks more like it belongs. Or add doors for extra storage. 😉

That’s funny, I’m 4’11 and I can reach them just fine with a step ladder. I mean, how do you reach to clean your fans or reach the top of your closet??

No cabinets don't go to the ceiling. They are completely useless. Space better used for decoration.
