The early seasons of this show were unexpectedly good, especially Rumplestiltskin, his grand plan is incredibly emotionally compelling

@@enzomartinez8083 After the first half of season 3 it started to slowly decline. Lots of characters were not fully utilized such as Lily, Jackal/Hyde, Maleficent, Mad Hatter, Jafar, etc, and they changed the season structure starting in s3 where rather than being one big seasonal story like the first two seasons, there are two stories/arcs per season. In s3 for example, Pan was the primary antagonist for the first half, while Zelena was the primary antagonist for the second half, which for me personally I wasn’t a big fan of.
(This is personal opinion.) There’s also some writing decisions I don’t vibe with, such as Rumple’s s3 sacrifice being undone only a few episodes after it; yes he’s a major and popular character, but his sacrifice would’ve been a great end to his character arc. At the very least they could’ve kept him dead until the story reached the Underworld where the cast can encounter/reunite with him there, and he can find a way to resurrect himself to be with Belle.
I would’ve preferred for the body swap between Henry and Pan to be permanent as it could’ve allowed Jared Gilmore (Henry) to leave the show and allow Robbie Kay (Pan) to stay as a new main cast member as no offense to Jared, but I think his acting got worse as he grew older in the show; it also could’ve gave Henry an interesting arc about suffering body dysphoria and potentially an identity crisis in being the body of his attempted murderer/kidnapper.
I wish Dark Emma was an actual villain instead of her only pretending to be evil as I love when protagonist characters turn or temporarily turn to the dark side as it makes things interesting. Dark Hook I felt was unnecessary as he was only a thing for like three episodes.
I still like the show, but it’s got its problems.

That moment of realization on Rumple's face on 1:41 is so telling. Baelfire was 1 of the few people in his life who he loved and who genuinely loved him back. Rumple became the dark one and gave up his humanity for the sole purpose of keeping his son safe, but when the moment of truth came, he showed that his fear outweighed his love for Bae. The instant regret Rumple feels reminds you about how his own father abandoned him and that Rumple knows the pain of being betrayed by the people you love and how much of a huge mistake he made by literally doing what his own father and wife did to him, despite all the times that Rumple said that he wanted to be better than his own father. Rumple's reaction after realizing that he's put his son through the pain of what he himself went through, shows us how much a part of him hates himself for his own cowardice and that letting his son go through what he did is something he'll never be able to truly fully forgive himself for.

Tecnically the his wasn't a choice, but an impulse dictated by fear for which hindsight then came to him. If he could have returned to him immediately he would have done so. After all, if it hadn't mattered to him, he wouldn't have done everything he did to reunite with him.

I don’t think it was about the power in the way you are thinking. I mean this is a man who was pretty much abused his entire life because he was physically weaker. He was scared that without the power he wouldn’t be able to protect him or is son. It was more fear of the unknown that stopped him from going with bae

@@daryncollins7640 For me, however, the ending of the seventh season is better than that of the sixth. it is more closed and complete. And honestly in season seven they gave a good reason why there is no magic in our world. I'm also happy that Zelena got her magic back, and in episode 17 they gave a good explanation of why she didn't trust Hades, refusing to kiss him the first time, and why she didn't trust Stanum, not renouncing to her magic for him.
