My 6-month old nephew bumped his head, hard, on the tile floor. He wanted to get off the foambed (which was about 5" thick) and ended up falling on his forehead. Thank goodness he didn't vomit, lost consciousness or display any behavioral changes. There wasn't even a bruise! 🥰😍🙏 The loud thud followed by his cries really scared me. I just cuddled him and prayed hard to God for him to be okay. (I didn't want to be scolded and grilled by my cuzn!) He'll be 12 this coming July. He's a smart boy. Children really do have angels watching over them.
I am such a nervous new mum!! I knocked my 5 week old daughter on the side of her head with my phone, she screamed and my heart sunk!!! Had a cuddle and a feed and she acted like it never happened and I just feel absolutely terrible 😭

I was playing with my 8 months old niece and i tried to stand her up a little closer to the wall, i was trying to take a picture but she fell on her side knocking the wall, she had a small swelling on the back of her ear. Hello, I'm seeking advice and reassurance regarding my child's head injury. After a blow to the forehead from a radiator with sharp edges, there was swelling and a bloody cut. Fortunately, the swelling went down overnight, and there is now a healing scab at the site of the cut. However, I'm worried because there's an oval-shaped indent visible during facial expressions, like raising the eyebrows. I've read many forums where mothers shared their children's head injuries, and I was shocked to learn that hundreds of children, even from minor bumps with no cuts, have developed the same indent. Some of these parents have reported the indent still being present years later, despite seeking answers. Doctors have simply said, "it's fine, what will be will be," which isn't the reassurance we're looking for. Is there anything I can do right now to help aid the healing process and cell growth in this early stage? I feel compelled to reach out for advice, just in case there's something that can be done at this point. Thank you for any insights or shared experiences.
Hi! We are sorry to hear of your experience. We hope your little one is okay! Unfortunately, the best advice we can give is for you to have your little one assessed. @@cprkids Thank you for your prompt response. I took our child to the hospital following the incident, within an hour. Both a nurse and a doctor attended to us, reassuring us that everything appeared to be fine and advising us to monitor our child's condition closely. This assessment occurred a few hours after the incident, primarily due to waiting time. Unfortunately, we have noticed an indentation, and we are concerned about whether this is a temporary issue. From the research I've conducted so far, facial injuries can potentially lead to the death or rupture of fat cells in the affected area, causing indentations. I'm curious if you have encountered this type of outcome from similar injuries before and whether it is a common occurrence. We are planning to return to the hospital for further evaluation, although I anticipate they may again reassure us that our child is fine and advise a "wait and see" approach. It's worth noting that we immediately applied arnica to the bump, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the swelling subside overnight. We applied the arnica around the cut, not directly on it. Additionally, we used antiseptic on the cut itself, followed by a touch of olive oil for hydration. The next morning, the bruising on the skin had progressed past the black and blue stage and transitioned directly to a yellowish hue, with a faint red mark remaining where the impact occurred. We've been administering arnica, calendula, and bellis perennis orally to help reduce swelling, facilitate wound healing, prevent infection, and aid in deep tissue repair. Topically, we have been using calendula cream. My wife and I are doing our utmost based on our own research and personal resources. It's just disheartening that the hospital's approach seemed to be primarily observational only, which of course is important, however not even cleaning the cut. I trust you can appreciate our concern and understand why we are seeking additional guidance.
