The amount of value in this is incredible. Thanks for taking the time on this content, it totally deserves more exposure! Imo it’s a hidden gem. I’d love ur perspective on a question I had. I’ve seen a few sports card people using eBay file saver / scanning cards to run their daily production, but not really anyone in the YuGiOh!, MTG, or Pokémon game. With file saver you’d basically just have to personalize it to ur title for how u do the bulk right?
@@doncaruso76 Saw the ad for new products / scanners with burbanks cards in it. Can the new 8170 really scan psa graded cards like how they had one run through it in the ad since that could be a game changer being able to autofeed those and relic cards since that is what my 7160 really lacks. Also with the overhead scanner is it able to auto crop and add like a 5mm margin to each side of card? Thank you in advance for looking into these questions
Great video!! I was debating which scanner to get and decided on the overhead because of the amount of chrome cards I need scanned and the ability to scan family documents that are becoming brittle. Can't wait to try it out when it arrives.
how is the overhead sv600 working out for you? i was considering it but was wondering how it worked out because it only images one side. i also see they discontinued that model. any thoughts?
Thanks a lot for this vid! I wrote Don as I too bought a 7030 and initially experienced sleeve issues and a few other snags..In the end - should I just remove all sleeved/top-loaded cards and then scan? I hate to do that - especially with 200k sleeved/loaded cards - but if there isn't a better alternative or another scanner that can handle them without issues - is that the best option? Thanks in advance!
So I have stacks and stacks of chrome cards that I have delayed listing because the 7160 is my main imaging tool. I have a flatbed, but hate the extra steps. It was briefly mentioned that there are software level fixes to the bad images I get on chrome cards from the 7160, but that is it. Does anyone know specifically what to change to make those scans look halfway decent?
@@doncaruso76 we are experiencing the same thing, it leaves a mark on the cards, basically damaging the front and back. very disappointed, paid close to $500 for the scanner and just damaged over 100 cards.
Don, I just got the 7030 and image quality is amazing but it seems that cards scan with one edge lower than the other. I adjusted the document guides to fit the cards snugly, but one of the document holders is slightly lower than the other. Scanning at 300dpi and I have tried changing the paper size to 2.5 x 3.5 and using deskew on Paper Stream and that sorts of works. Also, can't seem to find a way to add a black border. If I use margin scan and edge fill, it makes the corners look sharp on my VG cards. Any ideas or a contact to help me fine tune my PS Capture Pro settings to create straight scans and adding a black border/background before uploading cards to CDP? Thanks and can't wait to scan my entire collection!
Just bought FI-7030. I've tried scanning cards with a penny sleeve on and the scanner pulls sleeve off then jams. Is there a setting/setup to prevent that?
Not a setting. Best not to use penny sleeves. If you do, use the perfect fit sleeves. The looser the sleeve, the more likely it will not scan properly.

Thank you! Its picking up steam for sure
Awesome discussion! Definitely would consider a scanner more now for this application.
I hear it works well for garage door receipts and fence invoices too ;)

Not discontinued.. just heavily allocated due to its popularity!
Any tips for scanning reflective cards? I have the Fi-8170 and the SV600 and all reflective cards turn black. Thanks for any help you can offer.

You would want to scan at 600dpi and minimize brightness. Its still not perfect but does well.
I have a Fujitsu ix1600 scanner but it is leaving a scratches on the back of cards any suggestions?
That shouldnt be the case . Probably something to check on cleaning inside. You can also try sleeving and take off multi page detection

the same problem on epson ds571w scanner
little scratch on the back
really disappointed~
@@iheartjews2 yeah same. and it rips off the penny sleeves
Also been having the same issue with my ix1600. Been killing myself trying to figure out a solution

@doncaruso76 We are having the same issue with scratches on the front and back of cards, has there been a fix for this?
Can we use this scanner with a ipad
I thought I got a lot of emails a day! I bet he does not even hear his notifications anymore LOL!
Its crazy.. easy a couple calls a day.
Do Subloaders work better in the scanner since they are very thin but also have durability.
I haven’t tried, but the issue with scanning sleeves or top loaders/card savers are the imperfections on the plastic.
Havent tried a subloader either but agree with Beau on this one

Turn off multi feed detection.
Any headway with your issue landshark?? I'm in the same boat..
What thermal printer do you recommend Bo?
I use the Brother QL 1100 and use the 4x6 labels.
Rollo
Does anyone scan the back of the cards? What is the best DPI to scan cards at?
Is the scansnap scanner discontinued?
I’m not sure.
@@onemillioncubs when I look online it says discontinued, trying to get my hands on a used one because they are selling for like 600.
No Scansnap is not discontinued. It just doesnt have a driver that allows the scanner to talk to software. The 7030 and ix1600 have similar feeders.
