The first few lines are awesome in that song... "What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer, There is no more for heaven now to give." Gets me every time.
I always enjoy watching your channel, Colin. Being a professional Christian music artist for nearly my entire life, I have to totally agree. I was part of a church that covered mostly Hillsongs material and also used “secular” songs in their worship set. It always bothered my spirit because I felt the band was not worshipping but mainly entertaining the crowd. I left that church because I was not being fed and I felt in my heart that God didn’t want me there. I am very critical of lyrics and always feel that if it effects me positively and biblically then I enjoy it the most.
As a Christian and a musician, I was once part of a ‘big’ church and after being in the worship team for 18 months, I ended up leaving as I wasn’t just burnt out, but I felt soulless as well in the end, on the note of secular songs on a worship set 🤦🏻 whilst some secular songs could be taken in a Christian way, no way do the have place in a praise and worship setting
what I have learned through the Spirit of truth is that there are 2 kinds of music. 1) music that's INSPIRED or originated by the Spirit of God, Spirit of Truth....worship, praise, hymns, etc 2) Music that's inspired or originated by Other entities that's not holy.....(am trying to say it nicely here)....worldly 🌎
I agree - I LOVE the SOUND doctrine in Elevation and bethel music . . . It blesses my soul and raises my SPIRIT - TRULY anointed by the HOLY SPIRIT. BUT its HARD to WORSHIP with THEOLOGY - hence most WORSHIP music is NOT deep theology - Most THEOLOGY songs are about GOD - Worship songs are TO God - and FEW theology songs get there. BUT that is the point of WORSHIP!!!
God is so good. I recently stopped listening to k-love because it's been taken over by hillsong, elevation & a lot of very sensual songs with so called "positive" themes. I'm very grateful for these recommendations.
I agree -- our church has recently started singing the song with the line of "holy water on my skin" and I feel creepy every time it's sung. Sensual is a PERFECT word to describe how that phrase comes across. Plus, the concept of corporate worship has been hijacked by a concert that we watch, not a shared praising of God!
K-love played a song the other day featuring the secular artists Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line. I was just very confused to be honest. What happened to the good old day with artists like Phillips, Craig, & Dean 😩

Sooo many amazing, sound artists out there.
I really needed this video. I’ve been really struggling with what music to listen to. After finding out about bethel, hillsong, and elevation it was hard to trust any worship music. Thank you so much for this
As a music minister this list is so very valuable. The church I work in is very traditional so most of the songs we use are very old but I love being able to add newer sounding music to the mix. However finding biblically sound music is very difficult these days. I look forward to checking all of these out. Thank you sir.
Colin, while I sometimes find your videos difficult to watch as it pokes holes in peoples theology but leaves us with no alternate or replacement, I absolutely loved this video and strongly encourage more content like this. Not only does it shed light on potential theological failures in certain organisations/individuals but you also provide us with alternative replacements, which I cannot stress how helpful that is. Thank you.
@@toolegittoquit_001 you attend church on a Sunday and read your Bible for maybe an hour a day, maybe less, maybe more. What about the other 22+ hours a day. These videos, still to this day, a whole year later since i made this comment, continue to provide no alternative for how we are to go about our every day Christian living; music to listen to, shows we should watch, speakers we should listen too. Suggesting that simply we need to “read our bible and go to a sound church” fixes little to nothing if this is what you’re already doing. And if it were that easy, then there would be no point for any of these videos because we’d be able to discern what’s false anyway.
Thanks so much for this information. I spend most of my time studying God's Word and ministering to the needs of our church family and do not have lots of time to search out doctrinally sound Christian music, so this list is very helpful for me as a pastor of a small but growing congregation. It is much easier to find songs that are shallow or are doctrinally suspect than it is to find good Christian music that glorifies God and communicates biblical truth. We sing songs from some of the sources you mentioned, but I plan to check the others out. God bless you as you continually serve the body of Christ through your ministry.
I listen to 70's Maranatha worship,John Micheal Talbot,Petra Praise,Stryper and Bloodgood if I want to rock out. Sure it's mostly old school, but I will listen to your recommendations.
In the 70’s we sang A LOT of songs directly from the Word. We called them (oddly enough) “Scripture Songs.” I have many of them marked in my Bible with a musical note in the margin and love to sing them to this day.

I really appreciate these suggestions and also those in the comments. It's been disappointing learning about the issues with a lot of mainstream Christian music. Good to know of more biblically sound options.
Songs like "Rise again" by Dallas Holm, "Create in me a clean heart" and "Oh Lord, you're beautiful." by Keith Green, "Farther and higher again","For every time", "Could I be called a Christian?" and "Merciful, Wonderful Savior" by Steve Camp and "We are the reasons" by David Meece were truly great songs that truly lifted up the Lord's name. Too bad we don't have songs like these anymore. Steve Camp had mentioned that back in the Jesus movement days of the 1970s, Christian artists unashamedly mentioned the name of Jesus in their songs with sound doctrine. Lately, it was just songs that was God as my girlfriend without sound doctrine nor theology or sometimes not even mentioning Jesus nor God in their songs. Which is why Steve Camp was impulsed to the 107 thesis for a call for reformation for Contemporary Christian Music.
Proud to see Getty mentioned here. Many of their songs made it into my denomination’s (WELS Lutheran) hymnal because they met the lyrical and musical criteria. They’re pretty popular in our circle.
I’m glad you added it’s not a sin to Listen to this music but Christian liberty…. As even in those ‘false’ churches some amazing and powerful doctrinally sound words, lyrics and music have been created. Those are the ones that I will still listen too. Thanks for showing us other proper ones as well Colin. Much appreciated. God bless!💕🙏🏻
Thanks for the tip on Corner Room -- hadn't heard of them before. I've long thought that up-and-coming worship song writers would do well by taking a year or two to just set the Psalms to music.

The Corner Room has great music.. while learning the words (which are from the ESV bible) God can speak to me through the Word during the day even if I'm not listening at that time.. I've asked God to help me memorize scriptures & this is a great way.. their music is better than the mainstream type that briefly mentions our Creator & His Amazing Son Jesus.. Thank you The Corner Room for creating great music!! Thank you Collin for recommending them to us!! 🎉🎊💥🔥✝️

Our previous church was all about Hillsong, Bethel, and Elevation. They also sang a lot of Passion worship music there as well.
If anyone prefers metal music I highly recommend the band Theocracy. Very great music to jam out to, although not necessarily worship music. I recommend their songs “I Am” “drown” and “30 pieces of silver” their music is much deeper than a lot of “Christian”music today!

You should start a new segment suggesting worship artists. I really enjoyed all of these recommendations! God bless you for taking the time to discern in The Spirit these worship artists.
So thankful to GOD, I am praying for not to follow false teachers and over period of time, things got pretty clear about a lot of ministries I was following and then I stepped back and leaned more towards word of GOD and more simple, humble and truthful teachers. I was keenly looking for Christian music other than bethel or hill song or elevation. Thank you so much for introducing simple, soulful and blessed worshipers.
Thank you so much! My spirit began stirring when our old church would sing their songs. The Holy Spirit would cause such an uneasiness when hearing them. THEN…I heard a swear word in one of their songs, not played on the radio. (I had Christian station playing on Pandora, while cleaning the house.) I thought it started playing secular music, and that was it for me. My old church also started to play The Upper Room songs, I don’t know much about them, but I had the same uneasiness, as I had w/ the others. I stay far away from “Christian” music, that throws in unBiblical statements. The entire song could sound amazing, upbeat, and catchy, but so, so many songs have unBiblical statements. Anytime I sit under a pastor’s tutelage, I’m submitting to the words he speaks over me, and the same goes for music. How can you worship a Holy God, when there are unholy lyrics? When we are led in praise, we are also submitting to the worship pastor’s words, that are being sung over us. Allowing that, opens up a door that can begin to desensitize us to unholy things. So with everything, I hold the Bible up against it, and if it doesn’t line up, I will no longer go. That may sound harsh to some, but I went to a phenomenal church for years. Our family was very involved, and the pastor and my husband became best friends. The pastor’s wife and I became best friends. The pastor’s daughter and spouse were the worship leaders, and slowly bethel, elevation…music begun to take the place of our worship time. After about 8 months, I started to pull back from ministry. They got angry w/ me, and even sat me down for a confrontation! I told them that I had a dream that poison was dripping down the windows, and I said I felt something extremely wrong w/ the head of the church. It was very hard, but I stood my ground. 6 weeks later, the pastor’s wife left after 38 years of marriage. She was talking to her high school crush online,, via the window of the computer! So, there truly was something wrong w/ the head of the church. So sad!
Colin, thanks so much for introducing all of us to The corner room! I'm very much enjoying the music, and it's such a wonderful medium by which to hear God's word. Bless you brother!
Thank you so much for making this video! I knew of all the artists except the Corner Room, which I will be checking out! A few over sound artists/bands: Norton Hall Band, Brian Sauvé, Emu Music, Thief to King, and My Soul Among Lions
You can also listen to 1) Jason Silver 2) Jonathan Ogden 3) Don Moen 4) Zach Williams 5) David Brymer Music 6) The Porter's Gate 7) Joshua Aaron 8) Josh Garrels 9) Aaron Shust 10) Singing our stories worship 11) Gaither Music
Love Gaither music, Zach Williams, Joshua Aaron,Aaron Shust, and Don Moen. Most of the other ones you listed I have never heard of. I can personally tell you that Don Moen and Aaron Shust are extremely down to earth and sweet. I’ve interacted with both of them online.
Fellow Theology nerd and worship leader here. Instead of worship being “Expression of one’s deeply held beliefs” I would say rather that it is an “expression of one’s deeply DEVOTION” Our worship is a response to whom we know God to be. Hopefully what we know about God is biblical… But The beliefs itself is not worship… However our beliefs should aspire us to worship God. To value God above all things… To invite God to sit on the throne of our hearts
Thank you Colin for honoring the requests by many who wanted you to do a video on GOOD / doctrinally sound worship music. This is so helpful and necessary. God bless you.
@genesis it’s not so much that he is against it but making us aware of the false teachings that are out there. It’s a lot of work to do the research and he blesses us with the research. He’s not against it because of his agenda but because those things go against scripture. Blessings.
I really like this young man because he speaks truth and truly has a heart for God's people. I'm actually going to tell my children about him and encourage them to watch his videos. Keep up the good work Collin. Godly proud of you.
Because the word of God should inform our worship. So if the word coming forth informs us of ourselves instead of God then we become idolators worshipping ourselves. So thank you for this video Collin.
Desiring a worship that was honoring to God I started with the doxology and then through that search found Celtic hymns ft steph Macleod. It's been wonderful to fill my home with.
I never heard of the group Corner Room -so, I listened to samples available on iTunes- - - Corner Room writes beautiful music accompanying Scriptures found in the Bible -- Yes, this is how we should worship our most holy sovereign God and King!
I listen to mainly older Christian songs and hymns. I grew up listening to Steve Green because my mother loved his music. Also, check out the Gaither Homecoming. They sing hymns and older Christian songs. Some other singers I use to listen to were Twila Paris and Paul Baloche. What are your thoughts on older songs like Shine Jesus Shine, Open the Eyes of My Heart, Days of Elijah etc. ?
Thanks alot my fellow brother in Christ. I've been looking for alternatives to Hillsong and such for quite some time and here you have given me some good examples. Cheers bro!! 👍👍👍
Good job Colin again for addressing the truth of God. As I grew up I thought was to sing for praising God not for award's. See when I sing I sing for God not for my own pleasures. Since I have heard u speak on these false churches I don't listen to nothing they say or televise. God bless you and the Christians in this world. I have learned alot from the u tube channels like yours Colin. Thank you for your help and addressing the truth of what God wants and expect from us who serve our God and Jesus.

Matt Boswell and Matt Papa made a song called Come Behold the Wonderous Mystery. I like that song.
God bless you brother. You are ministering to me in countless ways. One way is referring me to good biblical music. Keep on posting. Charlie Sanchez

Fellow Theology nerd and worship leader here. Instead of worship being “Expression of one’s deeply held beliefs” I would say rather that it is an “expression of one’s deeply DEVOTION”
Our worship is a response to whom we know God to be. Hopefully what we know about God is biblical… But The beliefs itself is not worship… However our beliefs should aspire us to worship God. To value God above all things… To invite God to sit on the throne of our hearts
Yes, I agree, CityAlight writes their music according to Scripture and Shane & Shane also.
I honestly needed more music so thank you!
thank you for bringing me The Corner Room ! Where has this been all my walk !
Thank you Colin for honoring the requests by many who wanted you to do a video on GOOD / doctrinally sound worship music. This is so helpful and necessary. God bless you.
May God continue to bless you and strengthen you to continue putting out such great biblical content! Thank God and thank you!
Growing up I listened to an artist named Michael Card. The vast majority of his music is actually written from scripture.
Thanks for your recommendations.
Thank you for finally talking about something you are for instead of something you are against.
@genesis it’s not so much that he is against it but making us aware of the false teachings that are out there. It’s a lot of work to do the research and he blesses us with the research. He’s not against it because of his agenda but because those things go against scripture. Blessings.
Cityalight is another great one
Thank you for the video I don't have to look 2 hours + for grate worship amen 🙌🏼 thank you again
I really like this young man because he speaks truth and truly has a heart for God's people. I'm actually going to tell my children about him and encourage them to watch his videos. Keep up the good work Collin. Godly proud of you.
I remember a group years ago called the Fisher folk. I das a tape called The Fisherfolk Sing the Psalm. Direct from Scripture great
I went and listened to “behold our God”. Wow it’s an amazing song. Thanks for the recommendation.
Just listened to the corner room. Thank you for the recommendation. i love the folk undertones they produce.
Because the word of God should inform our worship. So if the word coming forth informs us of ourselves instead of God then we become idolators worshipping ourselves. So thank you for this video Collin.
Ahhhh thankyou so much for suggesting these groups. I've found some Gold amongst those listed 🙌
Thank you Collin! Needed this video; as I desire to worship in song more faithfully to the Lord!
Your treasures in heaven will be big brother Colin. For just speaking biblical truth.
Praise the Lord for this video.
& praise God for your obedience, Colin.
Thank you brother Colin...I for one needed these recommendations 🙏🏾❤
Desiring a worship that was honoring to God I started with the doxology and then through that search found Celtic hymns ft steph Macleod. It's been wonderful to fill my home with.
Ohhh this is a great idea, thank you for the recommendations. So excited to try these ones
Yes, I love the Gettys. There songs are both musically and theologically beautiful.
I never heard of the group Corner Room -so, I listened to samples available on iTunes- - - Corner Room writes beautiful music accompanying Scriptures found in the Bible -- Yes, this is how we should worship our most holy sovereign God and King!
i know your comment is from 7 months ago, but i agree.
Colin... you made my day. It became such an issue for me to find sound alternatives to Gospel music. God bless you for that🙏
I'm excited to try your recommendation...thanks colin
Thanks Colin! God bless you 🙏🏼
praise the only true living Lord and God bless you all glory be to the HOLY TRINITY forever and ever amen
