35 degrees in your railway room? You're lucky, it's -4 in mine!

Thanks Julian, so impressed at the build process. It will certainly be an imposing structure. Cheers.

Superb stuff Jules! The pencil certainly does a great job of hiding the seams, and the amended arched sections are terrific! 😎 🥂👍🍀

You could add drain pipes down the viaduct to hide paper joins.

That is true I'm building a copy of an engine shed here in dublin in 00 gauge and its 1 meter long.had no drain pipes has 18 brick bays with windows so could hide joins but a long sheet would have been so handy.

Yes, drain pipes are a handy trick for hiding seams printed textures.

Great work Julian. The viaduct is looking absolutely fantastic. Would there be any chance you could scale the kit down for N gague ? That would be brilliant. By the way it's about 3 degrees in the UK and set to go minus !!!! Kind regards. Simon. ☃️☃️

I may consider this kit in N scale, it's just a question of finding a suitable material. I think the 2.5mm MDF might be a bit too chunky for some of the components.

Very much enjoyed watching this, Julian. But it occurred to me out of the blue that most viaduct's piers that I can recall (I think you called them pylons?) taper from the bottom to the top, at least in one dimension. You can possibly think of examples to the contrary but I would be interested to have your thoughts. John

I plan showing the some of the viaducts I've researched and used for inspiration, all brick viaducts and they all have straight pylons, not tapered. I wonder whether tapered pylons are more common with stone viaducts?

Great video again, loving this. Two things, first would it be worth reducing the width of the viaduct to accommodate the brick paper? Second I found when building my viaduct that producing the arch infill brickwork was easy over a mould building each arch up out of layers of thin card and paper. The off cuts can be used to form the mould. This method ensures the shape is self supported plus it easy to have scew brickwork like many of the viaducts and bridges in the south of England. Keep up the good work.

Great idea and completely logical, reducing the viaduct width will remedy the brick wrap reach issue. Thanks

Hi Julian, sorry for being a bit late to the discussion. Great video, thanks for sharing your process. One quick question, when you "bricked" the front of the viaduct, on the video it looked like you cut out the arches by running around the arch? This would not leave the excess for the fold in tabs? I assume that in reality you drew an inner half circle and cut to that line instead?
    Cheers

Hopefully not too far away, I've got a few more modifications to make and then some more testing.

Could do with bricksheet on a roll like wallpaper.i find the a 4 sheets too short for alot of project's

      I have no problems with A4 brickwork, but that's because I work in 1/148 N Scale 😂

I'm guessing only if you're got a printer capable of printing longer format paper?
