Dear Daniel, Thank you hugely for your super thanks. It is incredibly kind and made our day seeing it. Knowing that our film is enjoyed really spurs us on. So a big thank you back to you, from Chris & I :)
Sophie
Oh, yes please, a short guide to celestial navigation would be absolutely fascinating. I really enjoyed this video. Loved every minute of it. Thanks so much!
Yes please on the celestial navigation
Yes, for a CelNav clip.
NBJS starring Erik the crazy but gallant sailman from Norway was by far the best sailing adventure on UA-cam, that was until I stumbled upon Seas & Summits. Sophie and Chris are such talented individuals/sailors, so full of energy and knowledge. They are fearless: tall seas and force ten gales and they just take in their stride, quite amazing. I’d love to sail with these guys, wishful thinking…
Dear Agent Double,
That was a wonderful message to wake up to! Thank you very much. Please let us know if there are things you would like to see more/ less of.
Kind regards
Sophie 🌊
@@seasandsummits Hi Sophie, your videos are top-notch. I’ve binge-watched lots of your adventures, especially the ones around the roaring ’40s. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you panic, which is quite amazing considering what's going on around you. I guess all the sea miles you’ve logged make you immune to it. Just keep doing what you do best, and I’ll keep on watching your beautiful shows. Warm regards, Peter
@@agentdouble-osoul158 hi Peter, oh thank you! You don’t know what that means to us to read such a positive message! Well no, we don’t tend to panic or find it stressful but we are always alert which means we adjust our sails/ prepare our boat so that we don’t get taken by surprise too much… if we are then we deal with it. We both don’t like panic, shouting or drama at sea… 😄 I think that’s something that we both saw in each other as sailors and respected when we joined forces and started sailing together.
We are working on our Ascension Island film. It was a magical place and landing was challenging with some rather large sharks around. I hope you get a chance to watch it and again any feedback is most welcome.
Thank you kindly from us both,
Sophie 🙂
Yes on the celestial navigation video!
Yes please for a video about Celestial Navigation. We really look forward to anything about seamanship.
Bring on the celestial nav, spent a year at night school on this with one of the world's worst teachers, looking forward to keeping it simple as! Madame Arcarty has been staring at my crystal ball, she seems to say no to St Helena (terrible shame) but yes to Ascension...!!
Celestial navigation tuitorial will be great.
Celestial navigation tutorials?
Yes Please!!
That’s a gorgeous boat Sophie! J
Celestial from you two

love your work ,I have my grandfathers "Mcbride and Kerr " sextant that he navigated the atlantic with in the early 1800's as a young newfoundland skipper of 2 masted scooner ,I would love to learn (even just understand ) celestial navigation , I have enjoyed your journey and wish you 3 all the best in your future adventures!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Either you are like 150 years old or it is greatgreatgreatgrandfather lol
err early 1900's ,I am old but not that old ,haha@@johnmayer3433
Thank you for excellent and interesting videos! Please teach the Greenpeace crew as much as possible about handling of the wonderful yacht.
Yes please, a rundown on all aspects of celestial nav would be much appreciated!!!
Celestial navigation would be really cool!
That would be a cool video celestial navigation
Just got a sextant so a short practical on “sun sight” would be much appreciated.
Hi Sophie and Chris, looking forward to the celestial navigation if you decide to do that! Thanks in advance :)
Sextant work is nice to see/use/practice/learn. Thanks for what you do !
A video on celestial nav would be great!
Hey guys, great video as always.would love a cel nav video!
Hello Sophie and Chris, this is a very nice video..I just love the interactions between you both.. You both seem to be very comfortable sailing as a team..
As far as the Celestial Navigation is concerned I will PM you about this..
Today's apps are a nice replacement for the elaborate trigonometry without replacing the basics of celestial sights, compass deviations, dead reckoning and running fixes after the sight reduction data is obtained..
Looking forward to Part III where I hope we will see "Ocean Wanderer"
Great video of this leg and would love it if you manage to do a Celestial nav episode
Many years ago I did the RYA Ocean Theory course under Charles Brown ‘member of the Institute of Navigation’ great teacher , but could really do with a refresher on Astro now!
I would love that recipe as well as the celestial .
It seems you two were meant to be together, sailing. Excellent content.
We love your professionalism and storytelling. We'd love a short explanation with an insight into the formulas and the best sextant to buy if you have that information.
I would like so much to hear about celestial navigation!
Would love to see a guide to celestial nav!
I would love to learn more about celestial navigation and how you use it.
On your downwind setup are you running a preventer down to a block and back to a winch?
Good question! :) On the Pelagic yachts Skip runs a “Prang” - a mix between a preventer and a vang. A spectra strop is wrapped around the middle of the boom, two lines (one port, one starboard) attached with bowlines and run to a block attached to the toe rail just aft of the shrouds either side and then back to the cockpit. The Prang pulls the boom down and forward.
@@seasandsummits Thanks Sophie. I'll go back through Skip walk around tour. I've learnt so much from you all. That sounds a bit like the Walder boom break we run. Great bit of kit for controlling the boom through the jibe too.
yes please, a concise course about the use of the sextant please. what's that greek dish called again?😊
I just love watching Pelagic Australis run with bone in her teeth!
yes plz sextant work
Never seen such a bunch of potential outbreak monkeys.. surely they didn't let you guys in..?
