    Wonderfully informed video Eric , so enjoying all your video's! Your knowledge is encyclopedic and so practical! Today's dilution method is so fundamental, often not covered , yes ,every coti is different, methods vary but you're spot on .
    Thank you 😊.

    Currently in vacation… a lot of walking and drinking but I finally found some time to sit down with my earbuds and a cup of coffee. Comes at a perfect time since I’ve been playing around with my small coti during the trip! Thanks for the video again Eric! Can we possibly get a video with the coti coming out of the 8k-ish grit range? Cheers friend

    • @BigEShaves
      @BigEShaves  7 місяців тому +2

      Yep, I can do that. I been meaning to make a follow up to the basic bevel setting video… focusing on mid range. Devin always seems to beat me to the punch on some subjects and I hate to fill UA-cam with the same content. I can finish that midrange video on 8k and then go to a coti. Thanks for watching and leave no glass unturned this weekend 😛🍺🥃🤣

      I agree with all your wise words, Eric . You've far more knowledge than most of us , I'm in deep awe ( and envy ) I've been lucky with the two I own, a modern and an slightly older one , it's always luck and some patience I've found . No other stone can go from bevel set to shave ready.
      You've a marvellous collection and a wonderful channel 🎉
      Many thanks !

    I agree Eric there are other stones that might give me that extra crispness in my edge, but I’ll be damned if there’s a stone that I enjoy honing more on than a Coticule.
    The range and feel they provide there’s just something about those layers that when you dial in your particular stone it yields one of the finest comfortable edges.
    Great content as always! 💪🏻

    That big hybrid coticule is amazing looking

    • @BigEShaves

      It is nice but a finisher only. I come off of 8K or another coticule. It’s backed with a la lune and it’s rather 🫤, ok but not breathtaking. I have other Slates and La Lunes with more range. If it was a combo with yellow Les Lat side, it would be a dream stone. It has great size for a Hybrid.

    Thanks for the interesting video. I have a small Coticule, and I just cannot as yet, get a decent shaving edge on it, yet. I'll keep trying 😀

      They can he a challenge to figure out, and it does not help that there is a lot of opinions on why coticlues don’t work by people who can’t figure them out. Once you do, it’s worth the time spent, I can’t think of a more versatile hone.

    Hi Eric. Very nice and informative. You hear all sorts of things about cotis but you actually make it look easy 🙂 Laughed when you said 'if you don't have one buy 2 or 3' 🙂 Counting on your video with the slate. Happy Easter

      Some Cotis are easier than others but most of the ones you buy from reputable sellers work for razors. The fun is figuring them out. Such special stones, I love them. Thanks for watching and Happy Easter.

      @@BigEShaves there is a person here in Italy who has so many Belgian stones that he can build a house... of all types, of all the veins of the Belgian quarries. In his house he has a painting hanging on the wall: It is an ancient map that describes the extraction sites in detail. These stones exert a great fascination on some people, they are like magical stones.

    Nice to see your cleaned coticule but mines are always dirty. I don't spent time to make mud first and instead of water, I use the hawk tuah thing. Saliva is thicker than water and holds the particles to make the mud thicker. When the job is over, I just let dry the mud in place on the stone, so next time when it gets wet, it's ready to use. The best way to spare the stone.
    That's the way my Dad learned me to use it. (RIP Dad).
    It' the first time I read Belgian gold referring to coticule.
    I also like the BBW stone from the same extracting place.
    Hi from Belgium. :)

    • @BigEShaves
      @BigEShaves  4 місяці тому +1

      😜 The
      Hawk Tuah method sounds efficient, I will have to give it a try. I have a few different types of stones so I keep them all clean as to not mix abrasives. If I was just honing on a coticule, I could see leaving them muddy would be the way to go. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @brunod269
      @brunod269 4 місяці тому

      @@BigEShaves Don't hawk too much, the tuah part is enough ;) I keep each stone separate (for mud and shocks) but I clean the object to sharpen if I switch the stone. I just don't remove the mud from the coticule. I clean the others stones when they need to be. Thanks for the video.
