Good stuff. Informative, interesting, relaxing. Thank you sir, Subbed. Edit: Appreciate the recommendations of other channels. Found quite a few that I hadn't run across yet.
Another dark looking stone, well I’m intrigued! A lot of good information Eric, I want to be on that list hehe I’m going to play with the invicta soon
Very cool that you get to test out new stones. Based on the way you described it and the HHT, it looks like this one is going to be very good.
Invitica?
Nope, will load the video tomorrow 😜
3 in 1 is no good make sure you use p diddy baby oil
Heavy on the penetrating part
@@BigEShaves 😂😂
Oh goody ! New rocks 🪨 to test !😎. Oil rather than water 💧 and why not 😏.
Only person that likes oil more than me is P Diddy
Afternoon Eric! Hope all is well.
Doing great, I hope all is well on hour end. Thanks man
Hmm...that penetrating oil gives me some ideas; but doesnt the oil destroy/affects the stone? Do you use that diamond plate for slurry or for making it straight?
@@alinnimeni3789 nope, oil has no adverse side effects to any of my stones and I have a bunch. I have honed oil with great success on coticules, slates, arks, siltstones, silkstones, tam o, WOA, I have not used it on just about everything but a jnat and a thuri, and I don’t plan too. I use a 400 or 1200 DMT on that stone.
Hi Eric, assume that's the Zulu!?
No, something new I am testing
@@BigEShaves intriguing....
Nice video Eric! Looking forward to getting back to my Coticule. Took a little break from honing. Time to get back.
I took a Coti break to review some other stones and I had withdrawals. I can’t go too long between coti fixes 🥴
Everyone loves all Cajun Blade soaps 🧼 ❤️
Love the title Eric. I also have a La Grise (La Greif) shaped, which i follow with another standard grade La Gross Jaune (or something), and finish on a fine flat stone. These harder coticules are perfect for this grunt work. I am also a member of the black sheep minority, who likes to think for my self. LOL. They are struggling to find a box to fit me in:)
You’re the man JPO, I enjoy the shit out of your honing and experiments. Thats what keeps this fun, always chasing the next challenge. Keep pushing the envelope, I will be right there with you.
You might as well be speaking Creole, as I have no idea what you are talking about. But for some reason I still love watching your content.
🤣, glad I can entertain you. One day when you’re ready to put steel on stone, it may come in handy 😜.
@@BigEShaves I am picking up some of what you are putting down. Maybe next year I might look into some stones. Enjoy your week my friend!
Nice honing. I need to revisit coticule work, never tried oil.
You should! Just use a light oil or honing oil.
Eric, keep crackin out great content. Have a good Sunday
Thanks
😍😍😍
Hi Eric, just been looking in your eBay shop and spotted the two soaps foret de pins and the No.2 tried to buy them but says you don’t ship to the UK but the La Vache and a few hones can ship to UK. Any way to change that so the two first soaps are available? Cheers and thanks for the informative video! 👍
Email me and we can bypass eBay if you want. But I can see what the issue is
I just adjusted those from shave soap to body soap, that’s is what I had La Vache listed as. Maybe the UK blocks shave soap. I also have an Etsy’s store. TheCajunBladeSoaps
@@BigEShaves Just placed my order on eBay UK and it went through fine this time, thanks! 👍
I really do need to experiment with oils on a coticule, but I'll leave the convexing to the more experienced 😮😊
Oil on Coti can be a game changer. Oil on a fine, hard coti is as good/keen as any edge I have ever tried.
Good visuals to watch and a good talk (for those listening at work with earbuds…)
Thanks bud. I do the same, get caught up at work with ear buds 🤣
If that boat ever sets sails I just want to let you know Puerto Rico has some really nice beaches 🤣 Awesome honing seccion and really good discussion Eric. You said it in the video but I want to bring that topic back over here but oil or any type of lubricant definitely seems to bump up the edge on coticules but also some really nice hard stropping, to me the testing I did was day and night when I started stropping with more intent on the linen. Cheers!
You’re always on the list when I reduce inventory, but not sure that one ever misses the cut 🤣. I am definitely on team “Make Stropping Masculine Again!” I think man should leave his purse on the counter when he strops his steel.
@@BigEShaves I wouldn’t reduce or cut that coti ever! Such a beautiful stone my friend
love your content bro please keep it coming. so freaking jealous of your coticule collection 😅
Thanks man. Appreciate the follow and support. I plan to keep it up as long as I have content 🤣
How does one order such a fine product as the Cajun Blade Brush Soaker cup? I need this in my life! Great shave my friend!
I forgot to mention it’s made from recycled plastic, so it reduces your carbon footprint 🤣.
@@BigEShaves 🤣🤣🤣
Hello, I noticed your UA-cam videos have great content, but they lack SEO optimization, which limits views. Issues include non-SEO-friendly titles, descriptions, tags, low SEO scores, poor social engagement, and missing metadata. I can help solve these to boost your channel growth and monetization.
I’m rolling on the floor… The Cajun Blade cup soaker… Lord, help me! 😂 Great shave, my friend.

Thank you for the shout-out reallyappreciate it, and great shave man.
No problem 👍 Thanks Mike.
Nice shave Eric! Great edge on that razor!
Thanks Joe, I enjoyed it. I really like that little razor.
First razor I ever honed and sold was a 401 platinum. I wish I still had it. Great steel and edge.
Very nice! I am glad I found this one. It takes an easy edge, and a nice shaver.
I love those J.A. Henckles razors! Looks like you had a great shave! That lather looked really nice!
The steel is great, an easy honer and good feel for sure. I was happy I found that old tub, it was one the first ones I made. Thanks bud
Yeah, there’s nothing like living in the lap dance of luxury. I’m there when I buy my hand towels at the auto parts store. I’m noticing a lot more comfort with your left hand. You’re still a whippersnapper compared to me, so take it from a bonafide geezer, when everything _really_ starts to sag, you’ll be grateful for the extra options provided by using either hand.
🤣. I have been making myself go left handed as much as I can. It’s crazy, I shoot a bow left handed, ambidextrous with a gun. But shaving left handed just did not come natural . Speaking of towels, I have started using one of those soaker towels. I have a golf towel made of that same material. It really sucks the moisture off your hands immediately. Really nice to dry the fingers when shaving. Best option I have tried so far.
@@BigEShaves You are well on your way. As you know, the more you do it, the more natural it feels. You will thank yourself for the effort one day.
Nice one Eric
Thanks
Hi Eric very nice Straight! I can longer 😇😇😇🤪 ua-cam.com/video/53e26SJPn_U/v-deo.html
You mentioned the belt and gave me PTSD I started screaming uncontrollably and was hiding under the bed. Have a good one Eric, that's a nice looking razor!
Hi Eric. Nice shave with this keen edge. Hope the grands behaved well 🙂 have a good pre Friday
What a magnificent lather Eric ! You're soaps are spot on, with such lovely mild perfumes, and never overpowering ! 104 °f 😢( 40°c). That takes some adjusting to ! Thanks for the call out , and a wonderful 2 pass shave 🎉!
Thanks Martin, this little razor is a keeper.
First shave with La Vache last week and it did not disappoint. No doubt the best soap in my line up
Glad you enjoy my soap. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching, have a great weekend.
Now this one
Post a new video! You got me rewatching old ones hehe
Man you bossy today. You need a snickers bar.
@@BigEShaves 😂😂
Your video work is getting good. Great angle and audio. Liked the Irish music in the background also. As always, enjoyed to watch your technique. Cheers.
Thanks, not the best producer 🤣. But I am trying to tighten up a bit.
Watched your video, great job. In fact you can go from a 1k bevel set then tommo or dmt slurry and erase 1 k scratches which takes no time at all really then rinse and refresh, work slurry well ……finish on slurry and end up with a superb jnat edge.
Yep, I agree, and I do that when I don’t feel like a long process. But I like to hone, and I enjoy a Mikawa Nagura Progression and the length of the process does not bother me. I do find it a better edge in my opinion.
Great video theme!
Glad you think so! Thanks bud.
Very nice job the razor looked really good
Thanks 👍
Nice looking razor. You get your goodies package yet?
Not yet. Thanks
Hi Eric, I have tried the "film on a stick" on two razors now.. One brand new Bismarck and then on my recent goto daily shaver a TI Le Grelot and it works a treat, can only recommend for now. Hope you feel better soon. Regards Johan
Oh it’s apparent it works. And I thinks it’s a genius idea for back beveling. I may make me some to try it out. I enjoy rubbing on rocks, I am not knocking the concept. That guy that does the video for Jarod is so good of a narrator he another has me talked into it 🤣😜.
Nice vid. Glad you are back in the saddle. No surpise to me that you rebelled against my advice to shape JNat stones. Oh well, somebody has to innovate and advance with their own stuff. THE FIRST SUPERCURVE JNAT RAZOR GUY. 👍 Although I think they sharpen some knives on a convexed stone in Japan.
Hi Bill, just look at Katana polishing, and you will see some really curved stones..
I think JPO may have a curved Jnatx not sure. You knew as cautioned against it, I would try it 🤣🥴…..
@@dnamol it is an observation that I have made. All cutting…is an act of force in which thinner wins over thicker. I have been looking at asymmetrical grind Japanese knives for slicing, but not made a purchase yet.
@@BigEShaves There is that JPO guy again. 😉Always the champion over arrogant Honemaster Superiors, New Yawk Jive Hustlers, and the ‘Rabid Majority’ of Shave Forum Moderatoritas. 😎
Humped stones are the incorrect way of honing razors! You just ruined a perfectly good razor!!!!!!!!!! What are youy doiiiiiing!!!!!!
I know you’re a super big honing expert, but Bill M got my back on this one. Won’t be the first time he falls on the sword for broke back honing 🤣😜!
@@BigEShaves 😂😂😂
Sean, It does appear as if our Brother Eric has done gone and jumped the fence only to land in with that bunch known on the B&B to be “the Rabid Minority”. Unfortunately for them there will always be those who decide it is perfectly acceptable to do as they please with their own stuff. I have always been hesitant to recommend grinding away at exquisite JNats. We can easily see how far my advice goes….🤣
@@billm.2677 use the gear you paid with your own money that you worked for with your own time? Are you crazy? You just have to do what the self proclaimed honemeisters tell you! If you don’t pitchforks will start coming out
And no bevel....
Hi Eric. Thank you for sharing your eyperince with convex stones. Hope you get better soon.
Thanks, but I am better and back 100%. Just struggling playing catch up on everything.
I am sorry that you have been feeling poorly. I hope that you get better soon. Thanks for the info on the jnats. That finisher sure was a nice looking color. I have made several wood blocks to fix razors that have been neglected and to reshape poorly ground razors. When making all the shapes, it is much easier and cheaper to make from wood than all the stones it would take. So for the final refinements I would like to shape some stones when I get my own shaping plate. But I get what you mean about loosing the joy of working with natural stones. The stones imprint a quality that you can not get with synthetics or sandpaper. I would have a hard time getting rid of some of the Shefield razors that I have to try out Solingen. I look forward to more of your videos and hope you enjoy your hunting season. Thanks again for sharing and take care.
Oh I am back to my old self. Just trying to play catch up. Yea, I do not judge anyone in their choice of hone. If you’re happy, I’m happy. Honing on rocks, maximizing the end result and enjoying the fruits of my labor is what has drawn me into this. It’s just my preference. I just culled thru a few old Sheffields that did not get used or were a little small for my liking. I am happy where I stand on razor assortments. Take Robert and thanks for watching.
Very refreshing and tonic video, just in time since i bought 2 stones and can't wait to test them.....until they arrive, ill be inspiring from your videos..
What you waiting on, do tell? 😜🥴?
