    In this chapter from his “Easy Way to Learn the King’s Indian Attack” course, GM Roman Dzindzichashvili shows how to get quick wins as White using the King’s Indian Attack.
    This chess opening is a system, not just a series of moves, and usually involves White castling behind a fianchettoed bishop on the kingside, placing pawns on d3 and e4, then knights on d2 and f3.
    It’s supersolid but also hides some powerful attacking ideas that can be used to blow your opponent off the board! And it’s a chess opening with a great reputation, being an early favorite of Bobby Fischer on his way to becoming the youngest ever chess grandmaster!
    Once you know the setup you want and how to start an attack from there, playing the chess opening becomes easy. No time wasted wondering what to play on move 6, your game just flows!
    In this video, Roman Dzindzichashvili explains the plans, concepts and piece placements that are best for White in this opening - follow these strategies and your opponent will be in for a very tough night!
    Roman then demonstrates how to put these plans into action with some instructive examples of attacking play from top GM games, starting with Bobby Fischer vs Geller. White’s solid setup allows him to control and block the e-file, gaining time to push the h-pawn and reroute his knight, ready to spring into the attack.
    Geller defends well but Bobby Fischer keeps the initiative and keeps the attack going with small combinations that stifle Black’s position.
    What kind of strong attacks can White develop in this opening? What are the best set-ups and piece placements for White to do? What kind of defensive attempts can Black try? What is Black’s best chance to counterattack? Watch the video to find out!

    18:00 exf6 is a mistake, it gives away the advantage. I checked it with the computer and the evaluation is about 0.30 in favor of black, the correct line is 1. Ng4! Nd7 2. Bxd5!!!!! exd5 3. exf6 Kh8 4. Rxe8 Raxe8

    Thanks for this wisdom on the king Indian attack now, what can b done if black begins to push pawns on the king side with early h6 & g5, preventing the bishop from occupying f4 Square! How can anyone progress here? Answer will b greatly appreciated sir! Thanks!

    I have to say that after watching this video, I have yet to lose a game with this opening on chess.com (against 1300-1400 rated players).
    It is great to have a very specific plan in mind! Of course, my games never went so smoothly (the one that went the most similar to the videos still eventually ended with my king on the other side of the board helping my checkmate), But I like to have a very concise attack plan, even if it doesnt pan out perfectly, it adds huge pressure. With pressure, there are opportunities!

    I can't see why the early start isn't white pawn E4.Then white pawn E3 and before ever bringing out white knight to F3 .White pawn to H2??? Before the development of the knight as to guard the flank from black's Bishop at C8?

    Two questions - 1. Would 1. Nf3 be the best way to discourage black to play ...e5, thus blocking advance of e4 pawn? 2. In the games in this video, it seems there are a few moments when the d-file may be opened in pawn/knight exchange, resulting in black queen taking white queen, thus resulting in white losing its castle right. Any insight on that?

  • @franckferrante6614
    @franckferrante6614 9 років тому +4

    Thanks. But you didn't show us an example with the trade of the d pawn against the e pawn which change the position. In this case, white can not push anymore on the e5 square.

    Given that white has no options at all on queen side, I wonder if black could not also find viable ways with queen side castling. But so far I never saw anything about that in kings indian attack.

    • @ChesscomGames
      @ChesscomGames  9 років тому +1

      Ruffian Eo Yes, castling queenside is an interesting option for black in KIA

    • @youcancallmefather
      @youcancallmefather 8 років тому +1

      white has options on the queen side. pawn to a2 then b3 helps. also don't activate your b1 knight until black castles. if black castle queen side you can send your knight there to assist with the attack

    • @ChesscomGames
      @ChesscomGames  9 років тому +1

      +RobinTeuwens I don't know what minute are you talking about, but generally this type of moves weakens kingside, so white can take profit of this

  • @harparkrat1

    What to do if the black takes on e 4 in the early 7-8 moves ? The game becomes simmetrical and quite boring...

    • @ChesscomGames
      @ChesscomGames  9 років тому +2

      This is also ok. White should take with the pawn, and the position would also be fine for white

    • @kander03
      @kander03 8 років тому +1

      +harparkrat1 It is somewhat boring for many people's tastes, but it's not a dead draw. White has some long term strategic ideas - often including c3, nd2-c4-e3 controlling d5 and f5, etc. You're right that White has little prospect of the sort of mating attacks you get in the main lines, though.

    hello sir you just became my favourite teacher, your voice makes it very interesting. I have trouble playing the indian attack against d5 because the next logicall move for me is d3 and if black captures e4 i can't take because of my queen becoming open for capture resulting in me not castling. Please help me sir i have very little resources since i live in africa but i have great love for the game.

    • @ZiggyZugzwang
      @ZiggyZugzwang 9 років тому +3

      in that case you should capture on d5 and look at scandinavian opening. There is always free content if you look for it. Even books can be found. Good luck ;).
      Ps: Or you start with 1.Nf3.

    • @ChesscomGames
      @ChesscomGames  9 років тому +2

      ***** Yes, against 1...,d5 the best reply is to come into a Scandinavian Defense with 2.exd5

    • @kander03
      @kander03 8 років тому

      +The footballers If you really want to play KIA, and don't mind passing up the opportunity to get King's Pawn games with e4 e5, you could try the move order 1 d3, 2 Nd2, 3 e4. I personally prefer 1 e4 because I only play KIA vs French Defence, and I enjoy playing against 1 ... e5, but if you really hate running into the Centre Counter / Scandinavian then the alternate move order is worth a try.

    • @burt591
      @burt591 9 років тому

      +Ranxu Lin Yeah h6 is the correct move. The knight has to go back to f3. Maybe whites plan after that would be to bring the other knight to g4 and Qd2 to prepare the sacrifice on h6

    GM Roman kicks off with one variation out of hundreds of variations and then on the 15th move or so he goes: This position is a lost position. How does that teach you any chess?

    • @jackanderson719
      @jackanderson719 Рік тому

      All the games he showed are similar. The idea for white is to attack Black's king side. In all these games white played E5 to stop the knight from defending the king side then white brings the knight to G5 and goes for a mating attack that's all you need to know.

  • @amfadli9392
    @amfadli9392 8 років тому +1

    why black keep repeating the same variation against white? white plans to attack king side, and black attacks queen side, black has no counter attack, passive, and white positionally win...and in the end white win the game..

    • @amfadli9392
      @amfadli9392 8 років тому +1

      put all my pieces on king side, trade queen, knight, and be patient wait for blunder, if not then it will be a draw,as we saw on the video it useless to push pawn on queen side

    • @kander03
      @kander03 8 років тому +2

      +am fadli Actually the variations for black against the KIA that are considered the strongest and are played by top GMs mostly involve queen side expansion. It didn't work in the games demonstrated because black misplayed the positions, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with playing on the queen side in general in this variation.
