I really like your focus on certain openings, like the KID/KIA, London + Pirc. I really see the benefit of seeing lots of games for each opening to understand on what squares the major pieces belong and what the plans are for each side. Very instructive, thank you!
@@NMRobertRamirez Way too many players want to learn way too many openings, and want to be jacks of all openings and masters of none. I love that you are pointing your students to a select few and giving some real good instruction with them, that's the way to go for sure. I also like your adapting openings for black like the PERK for white, like the KIA does, as well as telling them this really is only a strategy to develop and beyond that we just play chess. Simpler is just better here as it usually is. A lot of players grossly overemphasize the importance of the opening and put it ahead of even...playing chess. We play chess folks, and its really about understanding what is going on in the game and less about trying to remember what grandmasters play, whose opening preparation is considerably more important because this is a main way they get their little edges. We can just play chess though :)
It's great that you kept in your video the blundering of the queen. It's comforting to know that it happens even at your level and that the important thing is to not let it demoralise you.
Yes I have a question, I lost a game yesterday by playing kings ID, I am bit busy for 4 more days. Then will ask you for sure. Thanks for being so kind.
Eureka! Finally a chess channel which focuses on openings that are right up my alley. Been playing KIA, KID and Pirc for decades but never came across book or site giving such in-depth, precise explications of variations like Saemisch, Fianchetto, or London System and offbeat moves like h3/g4. Much obliged for your masterful, engaging presentations. Cheers!
I really like these videos where you play blitz games featuring the openings you've been teaching. Until I found this channel, I used to focus on learning/memorizing specific moves in the opening (theory and main lines). But now, I am playing the Pirc, the KIA, the Vienna with a fianchetto, the London, the Czech Pirc, the English (I tried all your openings, even the Petrov as Black). I like just knowing where the pieces go and focusing on learning middlegame plans. I don't think, as an amateur aspiring to one day getting an NM title, I'm ever going to try to learn 20 moves of theory in the Najdorf or the Winnawer French or something. This channel has really changed me as a chess player, and I thank you for it.
I just need to comment. These teaching videos are superb. And I have to say I empathise with you dropping the queen in game 5. I do that sort of thing, but not under time pressure! Keep these coming.
This channel is great! The comment I can see below I think is especially relevant about how you focus on some openings and play the games through to completion explaining your thoughts. Also, there's the screenshots outlining different continuations discussed in other videos - it must have taken some considerable time to put the detail into these videos. Many thanks! :)
Dear sir, your session on KIA is studious, interesting and instructive too.Nowadays, KIA is played frequently in almost all tournaments as the piece set up is fixed and certain. Fischer's frequent wins overwhelm s players to play with this opening. There are many games of top rated players with winning track record. In addition, your good self has nicely explained every line of possibility and session is liked much. I request you to bring forward winning lines for Black pieces so that there will be equal justice to both colours. Looking forward for such nice sessions ahead. Thanks and regards. Dmbhangaonkar
Hello! I am so glad you found value in this lesson. Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide your feedback and for all your support. It's greatly appreciated 👍😎
The opening you used in the last game was nice, I'm very interested in it. I think I'll watch it again soon and I guess that I'll find out later if you have explained it a bit more in the following lessons. Thank you again Robert!
At 9:56, instead of 23...Rad8 move 23...fxe4 Nxe4 Ne2+ fork looks interesting. But the only reason I think this was not worth it is because of structure ?

Hay algo en la Pirc y en la India de Rey que no capto, me han dado palizas épicas por más que las estudio. Noto que me ganan el centro y se acomodan muy bien, y cuando rompo termino jugando a defenderme y a ver como logro resistir el embate.
Loving the KIA/KID series! Rob, you have mentioned the c6, qc7 plan in the game for a Pirc-like setup. I was wondering if the same could apply to the white side with c3, qc2. Is this setup only for when they have a pawn on e5 or the d-file open, or can it be played regardless? Also, can the d2 knight in the c3, qc2 setup be rerouted to e3 much like how it can be rerouted to e6 in the Pirc? I like attacking too, so I also wonder if I can still use the h pawn to create weaknesses on the enemy kingside with the qc2 setup. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to watching your new videos!
Hello! I like to play the c3 and Qc2 plan exactly like you said - when they play e5 themselves. At that point, I mainly look for ways to capitalize on the d5 square and even a possible expansion with b4 and a4. The idea of rerouting the d2-knight to e3 makes perfect sense by the way. I think you might like this exact moment if you have not watched yet. Let me know what you think 👍 ua-cam.com/video/M14baR5KQf4/v-deo.html
You're getting closer Robert to the way the Slavs pronounce this, which is "peerts" :) However with that said, if you aren't a Slav then perk is fine, I use perk, the English pronunciation, while flipping a well deserved bird to self-appointed chess language police lol.
Robert, love your content. Would love to see more example games like this where you employ the the KIA against black. Unfortunately, most of this video is the black response. I need to build my repertoire on the white side. Thx!
@@NMRobertRamirez special mention to the Coli-Zukertort you showed(spelling unsure😊)! That one part was really good against a black player who is looking for an early explosion but not finding it. Kind of silent at first!
@10:51 what happened when you said he wants to fork me? why was that a problem with you taking the knight? you moved your king instead but I don't see why
Hello! Good question. At this point in the course, we have learned a lot about the Pirc Defense 👍 We have an entire playlist on it, but here is the first video in case you would like to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/pEQdCWwH-YU/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for your dedication Robert. I was already a King's Indian player who was incorporating the Pirc in my repertoire just because I think it has much in common with KID/KIA. I was wondering if you maybe could do a series about the Modern Defense? I think it is another opening that have much in common with our opening repertoire. 😅 nobody is immune to blunders. I have learned to double-check and doubt myself before making a move thanks to them. It is just part of the process. I am considering to do something like what you mentioned with longer games. it's great to know there is an interest. And thanks a lot for your tip by the way 👍
@@NMRobertRamirez I second the longer timeframe games. I'm predominantly a 'daily' player, but eventually, want to get into 15/10 or 30-minute formats.
Absolutely, Tim. I truly believe you will benefit a lot from live games. You can start with 30 min or 15|10 and even if you struggle, keep at it until you adjust. Sooner or later we have to experience playing Chess in time pressure. Even if we play a 2-hour game, you can get into time pressure and we have to feel comfortable with it. Likewise, you are forced to come up with plans and tactics quicker. It is not the same to look at a position, make a move and forget about it for a while as playing non-stop 👍If you try it, let m know how it goes!
