      I'd expect him to get back in the scene at least moderately after a few years. Unless he finds something he can dive into to the same level as with league. Either way wishing him the best he deserves a happy ending.

    i feel like the reason this is truly upsetting is his acceptance to league being his identity. Its a blessing and a curse to be Bjergsen where hes one of the greatest esports players but we have no idea how his relation to his family is because of that. The amount of sacrifice hes made we will never know, all the dinners, holidays, family gatherings hes missed just to be on top of his game. I hope he finds peace with his family/friends and doesn't regret his tenor as one of the greatest league players.

    Once regarded as "Western Faker", Bjergsen has had a great career. I think many of the new LOL Esports fans don't know how great Bjergsen truly was. He paved the way for so many great western mid laners & is a pillar of Western League of Legends. From an EU LCS/LEC fan, o7 Bjergerking.

    12:09 "I feel like we're all on the precipice of going different ways."
    Really felt it when he said this. I can feel it within my own circle of league friends. People are growing up, growing out of league, and moving onto other things in life. It's sad at times but it's reality.

      It happens in games and in life but everything is different for people. I'm moving on from league, played it as a kid and the game is going its own way and I'm gonna be focusing on other things in life while my other circle of friends is still grinding everyday and my one friend just hit diamond and they plan on playing for years more.
      For Bjersen it was basically his life, he had a decent career and made millions and now his life is set (and possible kids aswell) forever. He can just relax and do his own thing while not stressing or worrying about work/jobs or anything really. Respect to him

      It's true. You move on and make new friends, also making time for the old friends that really matter. Keeping in touch and being a good friend becomes a lot more work as you get older and busier.
      Your circle may grow smaller but those fewer friendships are usually much stronger. I've found that a lot of friends I had growing up were just friends of circumstance, like we grew up close to each other and mostly got along so we were friends. As I've aged I've become more selective, and I've personally realized that most of my friends as a teen were friends of circumstance. Kinda like work buddies

      @@adanj.861 I don't think that's true, I think people just get it into their minds that it's just how life works and such, but in truth people don't really grow up. They just get saddled with responsibility and they let it go to their mind.

They all told stories about this shy kid who was unable to make friends who suddenly turned into this living legend who everyone admired. Personally, I didn't know him but hearing stories about his success and to be able to follow him throughout his journey has been incredible, especially because he was so close to home. Now, 11 years later he returns home a new man but a total stranger due to his dedication to this game. I hope he does well and I sure hope to see him back some day, no matter the context.

    The combination of him saying how his entire identity for so long has been a league player, combined with the personal emotion of opening up about depression, made this much more in depth then many retirements. Usually it's just "hey I'm done playing, but I'll go into streaming or coaching or whatever", I think those two factors made this more emotional for LS. Could be wrong though.

    LS hit the nail on the head when he said that we all grew up together with league of legends. That's also why it's so painful to see Bjerg go; at the time he was just 17 y/o kid with a bit of an ego...but he also grew up and inevitably changed. He's just about the same age as I am, I remember watching every Bjerg VOD I could find back in the day to study his play when he came to NA and would stream. It's very painful to have the realization that league may not be the common ground it once was after an entire decade, even amongst our own friend groups and the community as a whole. I'll always love league of legends and I plan to play it at least occasionally until the day the servers go down, but this is such a big blow to the game.

    Bjergsen took a lot of flak simply because throughout most of his career, he was essentially the poster boy of TSM, and A LOT of people had an undying hatered for that organization, and thus, wanted to see them lose and get humiliated at all costs. Mostly because of Regi, but also other notorious players and staff members along the years (not gonna name any names)... Compounded by the fact that TSM did have a lot of success as a NA franchise, making matters even worse.
    So, a lot of times, when TSM lost that translated into Bjergsen hate, people saying he's not that good and stuff. But the reality is, that Bjergsen was most often the main reason that TSM was even able to be competitive and would probably be in the gutter WAY sooner if he decided he wasn't going to put up with the crap tossed at him on a daily basis and just join another team or move back to EU and continue his career there or something.

I literally created a Twitch account just to watch DL and BJERGSEN play league in 2016. This news is a true "CHRONOSHIFT" - a new life for my man! Best wishes Soren!

    t's crazy because if TSM won that match versus Samsung in 2016, then they would have had a real shot of going to finals. Bjergsen was a top 3 mid that year at worlds and if they went to finals, his recent legacy would have been different. One of the biggest what ifs for NA. :/

    Beautiful career. Got into the scene just as it was exploding. Made millions and won championships through the decade of LCS peak era. Now gets to retire when LCS seems to be on a downward trajectory unlikely to return to its glory days. Guy made out like an absolute bandit.

    Bjergsen is the LoL player, and Esport player, that everyone to aspire to be. Look to yourself first, what can you improve on yourself before you look to blame others. Work hard, want to be better? work even harder. Do the boring stuff, because in time it will reap results. I'm going to miss him, even when he was on a team i had zero respect for, still respected this man with no hindrance.

    Hey, you. Yes, you. If you played League of Legends. If you followed the esports scene. If you hated Faker. If you loved Faker. If you think Sjokz's hot. No matter how you're involved in the community, you're part of this community. Yes, it doesn't even matter how toxic you get in games.
    I may not know your name and you may not know mine, but we grew up together, just like LS said.
    Let's cherish the remaining years of League while we can. Love the community you are in.

    I think this is what most outsiders to LS' streams miss, his human side. He sometimes comes off as edgy. but he is actually SO empathetic and really cares about people and their well-being. I remember when the whole Sky Williams debacle happened he explained how Sky helped him, and how he helped Sky, and what his situation was. He didn't try to throw him under the bus when he perfectly could have. Idk, his human side is something I've always appreciated about him...

    i dont mind him retiring and i wish him the best but, what bugs me is that midseason his team has to look for a new midlaner, and there arent many midlaners available at this point so i think if he planned on retiring anyways he couldve told the team earlier so i mean if he wanted to participate one last time with Dl or something if they knew they couldve hired someone additional for summer now they have to take some rookie or some other player in and ive looked things up there arent any midlaners that id say could replace him that would be available maybe they could get damonte off of Immortals but thats it

    I think it stings a bit more because he still had potential to be top 3 mid NA, at least in our minds. But it's also a pretty sad time in league losing CLG, maybe losing TSM, and now losing Bjerg who has been the poster boy of LCS for a decade.

    • @Djfjfjrhhrjrhrhfj
      @Djfjfjrhhrjrhrhfj Рік тому

      Bjerg was at best middle of the pack and his gameplay was on a downward trajectory while the league simultaneously leveled up around him. He even said it himself that he realized he wasn't good enough anymore for his own standards. Cant hold onto the past, have to adapt to change. We aren't in 2015 anymore where Bjerg is a S tier player in LCS.

    • @aircatcher6891
      @aircatcher6891 Рік тому +1

      @IlCodylI he was probably B tier when he quit though. And a lot of it wasn't impossible for him to fix Especially in this meta I think his champ pool was fine. Idk it's just weird that we can apply the same logic to Faker except Faker has been keeping up in growth

      @@aircatcher6891 Bjerg isn’t as good as faker though it’s not comparable. Bjergs mechanics have tapered off while faker is still in world class form. Bjerg is only even as good as he is today from his game knowledge and experience. He gets exposed mechanically.

      DL is better than Bjerg right now; however, someone (I think IWD) pulled all the stats on the two of them and did a comparison (I think this was last year) and Bjerg was actually better by a small margin. Furthermore, Bjerg made waaay less mistakes on the international stage, and nobody has ever gapped a position in NA as hard as Bjerg gapped mid for years. Even Bjerg haters wouldn't deny that. He completely obliterated mid lane for the first few years he played in NA. Transformed NA. Nobody else did that.

    Even Faker doesnt carry his team always. People forget that when Faker won worlds in 2014, they didnt even qualify for Worlds the next year. Faker is still the undisputed goat to everyone but yet Bjergsen is washed when he attented Worlds 5 times back to back and made it to every LCS final until 2018. What mid laner in the LCS hyper carries their team solo or is expected to? One thing Bjerg did was NEVER feed. No one ever got the upper hand on Bjerg in lane, maybe he didnt beat someone down, but no one got fed off Bjerg or made it so Bjerg couldnt farm. He was always a monster, passive or not. Bjerg has gotten all this hate and taken it head on because he is expected to be good always. Your Legend will always live on Bjergsen. Your charisma and character speaks words beyond comprehension. Have fun GOAT.
