I wasn't sure how the reaction would be, since he was getting a lot of flak for the retirement team of 100T. Understandably so, he wasn't performing anywhere near his older days. Still, though, I'm glad he's getting all the props as he goes, cause man was a menace in his time that dominated the league.

Bjerg was always my goat. There was a time where I had blind loyalty that maybe NA could do something at worlds after watching the lcs both spring and summer. It was back in 2017. I was so hyped to see Bjerg and DL get another shot internationally because I just knew they would get farther this time. I’ll always look back fondly at the memories of his time playing, he gave me hope and pride to love NA.

I would never call myself a die hard bjergsen fan; but he's always been entertaining to watch and Ive always respected his skill, candor and his professionalism both in game and out. Doing something for 12+ years is a long time to be stuck in one position. Winning or losing, you're fundamentally spending 10+ hours a day in a chair staring at a screen, off time thinking about what youre doing while sitting in that chair staring at that screen, feeling pressure for how well you click your mouse and press your buttons while sitting in the chair staring at the screen, taking heat when you dont play well, maintaining professionalism and crafting your skill outside of the game, all the while having to neglect personal care and time with others. It always shocks me when league pros get married; as they fundamentally just dont have much time to even BE in a relationship. Bjergsen's always lauded by his peers and his opponents alike; truly an inspirational person, not just a good league of legends player.

Bjergsen single handedly brought up NA mid levels. even though he tried, the culture bourght everyone else down. Despite that, Bjerg tried his best to biring up this region.
He worked hard and didnt' get the reward that matches up his effort imo.
But it looks like he is content with his journey and is happy with it. He still made bag, even though i feel like he should've gotten 2-3x more, and is happy stepping away. I hope he has a great rest of his life away from SMS like he had been and he intends to.

I'm just reading some comments and I see some people mention he wasn't an alpha midlaner in the LCS, it might be hard to imagine watching his play the last few years, but his debut season he could pick anything he wanted, zed, leblanc, fizz, and dominate EVERY midlaner in the LCS, Bjergsen not getting a solokill in the laning phase was actually rare.
They were not calling him NA faker just for nothing, it actually felt like watching fakers dominance in the NA region when watching him play back in the day (obviously not the same level in leagues but still)

I’m pretty sure he solo killed pretty much every mid laner in the league that season it was wild. People that try and say “people didn’t know how to play the game then” just isn’t true. The game was just way different. League has changed so much since the early years. Thats kind of what has kept the game alive for so long as well. Anyone who doesn’t respect Bjergsen is just a hater.

Alot of people forget that he actually won allstars in 2015 1v1 and came to the finals in 2017 1v1 beating faker etc loosing 1 of the finals to uzi. the only one winning more than him is UZI. Which he lost to in the final due to a completely broken kalista at that time. Had he been invited as many times as UZI fx. in 2016 he might have been the goat in allstar 1v1. But he ended top 2 all time in that event in the 1v1s.
Nothing he really could do there. But at a time subtracting the team I would argue he was the best player in the world. around 15-17 ish. At least on par with faker and the other top mids.

I wish he would have just joined a korean or chinese team. They take it so much seriously over there and he might have been able to get at least one world championship in his career. A decent portion of American players are just lazy. Like they'll have raw talent, intuition, etc, but won't put the work in to be consistent like Bjergsen is. And on top of that, his reputation as the best player in NA, made his teams rely on him too much.

  • @edwardwongliupepelutivrusk1262

He wasn't overrated in his prime, he was the best mid laner in the west. But after his prime, recent 4-5 years, people overrated him, his mechanics could never bring him the advantage, just like the older pro, he was trying to be a team player, but could never catch up to that playstyle right. Also his career being in NA hugely restrict his talent, just like the other young talent in NA. It really suck to see those talents fall in NA.

That was also the time, where Froggen and xPeke were still relevant. Maple was already doing Maple things. China was competing with the LCK without all those imports, having 2 teams in the Top 4 at Worlds.
With all due respect: You will find 5 better midlaner in that year.
And since then, he failed to get out of Groups 4 times at Worlds and twice at MSI. Meaning the Westdoors and Febivens had more international success.
