What really hurt Kieth was all the low lives talking bad about him when he was struggling with major muscle loss in his arms. He had a few surgery's to have muscles removed due to nerve damage. He was also going through depression at the time. There will NEVER BE anyone as good as KIETH EMERSON. RIP SIR.

Emerson Lake and Palmer sold around 48 million albums so Keith was a very wealthy man, it just shows that even people with all the material things in life can be overcome by depression. RIP Keith.

Thank you for this visit to my hero's final resting place. From the first time I heard "Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends..."--the live album, I was a huge fan. I am a keyboardist/composer and much of my jazz and classical training was energized by Keith's path as a player. I dreamed of being the "next" Keith Emerson while in High School. My technical abilities outshined many, but my path led to a career as a surgeon. All the while, I have continued to honor my hard earned skills at the keyboards by continuing to create original compositions and share as much as I can. Near the end of his life, I met Keith, shook his hand, gave him gifts, and made an impression on him enough that he reached out to me to collaborate on my project, which he, in part, inspired: The Player Piano Mouse. Unfortunately, he left us before that could ever be realized. My heart ached for months and continues to as the years have passed beyond his final breath. I was lucky to hold his hand, but for a few moments. I was lucky to have touched him and inspire him as he had given me so many, many years of inspiration. Somewhere, in heaven, he continues to instruct my musical path combined with my surgical endeavors for the community. I'll always hold Keith in a special place amongst the stars. The bond I have shared with many of his fans is a gift that continues to reveal new adventures. Rest In Peace, Keith Noel Emerson.

Adam, what a beautiful story and memories. Thank you for sharing and for what you do as a surgeon. Your story just shows how kind and generous this amazing man was. I too had a chance to meet him and was bold enough to ask for a hug, which he obliged. It was the highlight of my life and I wish I had the ability to speak on the higher musical level to him but he was very kind. At 65, I still grieve this beautiful mind and soul. That's how powerful his music effected me from teen years on.

Carl came straight out and jumped in a people carrier without stopping.

    Another great video Paul!
The quotation "...let the wind sweep and the plover cry" around the top of the gravestone comes from the poem "Come not, when I am dead..." by Alfred Lord Tennyson:
Come not, when I am dead,
To drop thy foolish tears upon my grave,
To trample round my fallen head,
And vex the unhappy dust thou wouldst not save.
    There let the wind sweep and the plover cry;
    But thou, go by.
Child, if it were thine error or thy crime
I care no longer, being all unblest:
Wed whom thou wilt, but I am sick of Time,
    And I desire to rest.
Pass on, weak heart, and leave me where I lie:
    Go by, go by.

Keith Emerson rose to be a giant in the music world. It is so sad that his depression over losing his wonderful ability to play at an extraordinary level caused him to leave us so early. Playing was not his only talent....he was a wonderful composer . His music and spirit is embedded in our memories, and when I hear Rachel Flowers perform it, I realize in some manner Keith is still alive inside all of us. When our time comes, maybe we'll get a chance to thank him for what he gave us.

“Pictures At An Exhibition” has to be the concert to start with, for anyone new to ELP. - Rock in Peace Keith. You’re sorely missed.❤🎹

Leeds in 74 (ish). Great concert. I knew he’d be jumping over that battered Hammond at some point. Camera at the ready. The moment came. Click! Got it. Not got it, I’d left the bloody lens cover on. Aaaagh! Slept in a workman’s hut on a roundabout having missed the bus back to Ripon. Wonderful memories of a great man and musician.

I saw them in concert in Nov of 1974 in Wichita Kansas... It was life changing.. It was at the end of their 'welcome back my friends' tour...

I also saw them at that concert. Probably the best concert I ever attended!

@@swather777 It was an amazing show... I realized that I could never be Keith Emerson... I didnt have the patience. But I knew I could be the best me, possible... I saw Chicago in March of 75 also at the Henry Levitt Arena... and it made an impression on me with that guitar of Terry Kath. Chicago showed me that a true ensemble could put out some very impressive shit... and the piano player didnt have to do it all... 😂

@@drmorqWarrenProject I also saw that concert and it was great! My first two concerts at Henry Levitt were Three Dog Night in January 1970 and Alice Cooper in July 1972. Both great concerts! But, I remember the '72 concert as being ungodly hot inside.

Just take a pebble and toss it to the sea! Greg Lake sang it and Kieth Emerson played it! And Palmer was the heartbeat......

There's a UA-cam upload of Keith Emerson playing Bach's Tocatta and Fugue backwards (from the end to the begining) and standing on the wrong side of the keyboard.
He really was a phenomenal keyboardist with an incredible talent.

Thank you for this item. When I went there it was less than six months after Keith passed so there was nothing there. I think you have to wait six months for a headstone to be put in place. Funnily enough it was raining that day too.
