Hi Jef, great video! I’m sure you’ve been told this a thousand times, but your lighting and video composition are nothing short of cinema quality. Really incredible work!
Friktion is awesome but I have a feeling its going to be included in the Reason 12 suite whenever that comes out. Random comment here but that cherry semi hollow in the background is GORGEOUS. You should do a vid with it showing how you process your guitar. The kuassa rack extensions sound awesome in my opinion!
I subscribed after seeing the DeLorean t-shirt and JVC VHS camcorder ! That’s all I needed to know. I’m in. X🤘🏻X edited: the final track sounds amazing !
@10:30 "that was kinda cheating.." lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way whenever I use a ready made sequence. It really bothers me lol. This thing sounds really dope though. I'm intrigued.
Hi Jef, first of all my congrats for the video and your very well designed/structured Website :) QQ: can you share with us the list of your rec studio devices? You have a wonderful and extremely clean setup!
Jeff, Humble question: If you were creating a now audio recording area, would you change anything, and what dream instruments would you buy? Thanks so much, Scotty
Very nice...it seems that physical modelling seems subjectively somewhat more organic over samples sometimes...maybe it's the composition that's leading me to this conclusion...idk
No, you're perfectly right. While there are already many excellent multi-sampled banks with articulations, round robins, etc., they can't possibly beat a physically modelled instrument which will almost always be more organic, since it reacts to subtleties of the performance, and adjusts parameters to generate sounds accordingly, rather than fetching samples in a library. Physical modelling make an instrument sound truly alive, rather than made of many bits of samples. Sampled libraries come very close, though : for instance, I use the excellent AcousticSamples guitars a lot, and in either mode (Solo, Chord, Pattern), you can hardly tell it's all made of samples.
Hey Jef, what is the details on the monitor on the wall? Absolutely beautiful! I have 2 monitors and this makes me want to get one big one on the wall as well.
@@jefgibbons I'm sorry Jef, I looked in the description and I only saw 2 links. One for reason and to ur website. On the site, I could not find any details on the tv.
Do you really record with your click that loud...? :) Great video! Interesting that I couldn't hear much difference between some of the voice setting like with the noise and the pizzicato settings. I was thinking that might be key switched. I've downloaded the demo because of this and I'll subscribe. I use a breath controller so I'll be interested in the MIDI controller and mod options.
Loved this - know nothing about reason but wanted to grab the plugin..I gather you need to buy reason to use it in your daw of choice? But the reason site seems vague on that - no mention of a free player (like kontakt) - is there such an option or do you need to effectively buy another daw to use it in your daw?
I see reason intro is same price as this plugin, so worth bearing in mind if already committed to another daw. Thanks again though Jef great vid as usual.
Great video and amazing video production! On a side note, I think you and Art Alexakis from Everclear and D. Ramirez could be brothers!? All the best and look forward to more videos :)
Beautiful studio... with the wood here and there, the delicate lighting, the big screen. NICE!
Love it, Jef! Thanks for this super duper overview!
You bet! Super cool synth guys!
They need to make RE like this for woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
Objekt and Resonans could fulfill the percussion synthesis
Brass and woodwinds would be very interesting.
So glad I watched, right up my alley and excellent tutoring, thank you!!
Great improv composition! Thanks!

Thanks so much Nathan, really appreciate it!
Can’t believe I’ve been sleeeping on this - getting it today
finally reason are getting in the game ;)
Thanks Jef. Fantastic instrument you have shown here. I am going to have a look at it.
Definitely worth trying the demo! Thanks MAUS!
Digging the Delorean Throwback, Bruv!

Very cool, AAS makes some nice modeling synths too. I will be very tempted to pickup Friktion, nice demo!
Yeah, got to check aas! Thanks Robert!

No more string samples! Loving Friktion.

Yeah, I probably could stand to have a little more shame using loops and presets ;)
sorry if you mentioned, poly for string sections?
Sorta giving me a Tension + Corpus vibe.

Awesome playing! And although Friktion isn't the first physical modeling synth, it seems to make a lot things right. Cool

I agree. There is something very Organic about this plugin.

Hey KD! There should be a link to my video on the TV in the description, it's my most asked question so I put it in most video descriptions!

Thanks for the demo , is that a TV screen or a super large monitor you are using? you have a very cool work space ;-)
Jeff this gives Logic's Sculpture a run for it money!!
Question do i have to open up a new friction for each sound i wamt to record

from Reason 9.5 to 11 - got to be done! but got to upgrade osx, which is a drag
🦉 Upgrade to 10.14 Mojave not 10.15 or you'll be in a world of pain.
@@meldmagic And is it true that Reason does not support hyperthreading across multiple cores?
Thank you Jef!
Most welcome!

Hi Richard, the Reason crew mentioned Reason Lite but I can’t find it anywhere... you can get Reason Intro and use this though.
I see reason intro is same price as this plugin, so worth bearing in mind if already committed to another daw. Thanks again though Jef great vid as usual.
@@readytext Reason as a virtual instrument rack is well worth the price. I use it within Cubase.
Ezra Shanti I’ll try the demo! Maybe the instruments that come with the rack thing plus this great plugin will swing it...
How are you using reason 11 inside maschine 2. I can't get it to find it in vst's....it works in cubase 10 for me...
Tutorial time
Are you on Mac? If so, go to preferences and check if it’s turned on, I’ll check the details for you later!
@@jefgibbons actually I'm on pc
how much is it?
how do i get it?
little hesitant to buy this as they might add to one of the upcoming updates.
can you use friktion with reason lite? only want to use it as a plugin
Do you mean Reason 11 intro? I think it’ll work with that..
Yes, you can! Lite and Intro.
I wish I could live forever.

Thanks! I’ve been known to rock a fedora on many occasions... just gotta get some tats now!
not hard to imagine where this will evolve to over the next 5 years (or less depending on resources small companies can afford to throw at it)
That was my conclusion also... cool to see things opening up for Reason, fantastic software in my opinion!
is that a screen used prop?
Hey WoT! What are you referring to?
@@jefgibbons the BTTF video camera.. Hi by the way! Love the vids :D
@@PositiveActionMan Thanks Tim! No... not the one used on set unfortunately!
well said, organic synthetic sound ..
why don't you make cool loops, rex2 etc and sale them? people who follow you, like me, would purchase those loops and samples!!!!!
Hopefully in the future! Just working on building the channel for now... thanks for the support Alandra!
Why do better with a Kontakt library, when you can do worse with Reason?
Is this supposed to sound like a real life acoustic string instrument? Guess i check back in 10 years.
I hope free because i own reason and wont disrespect the ones i do support..but hmmmmm!!!
Unfortunately not! I wish it was free with Reason Studio...
🦉 $99 is alright. You can even pay in 10 monthly instalments. Compare the price to VSL string libraries & it's a win.
Friktion is not available as VST. Locking down much of the market has never proven to be a benefit.
You can run Friktion and all other Reason devices in the Reason Rack Plugin which is available as a VST/AU/AAX.
Imagine having this in Reason and then realizing there's no video player.
video works with "vidplay vst"
@@Autostones I have vidplay but it is far from stable and crashes a lot with some video's i've tried.
@@Pieter_Auper finger cross reason 12
I use vidplay vst perfectly
Some of the synthy patches sound ok - but I think the strings sound terrible. Not a patch on a good sample library. :(
Bad sound 🥶
