This synthesizer provides truly unique sounds. While testing this demo here, I could see that it is great for folk music, whether oriental, Arabic, Celtic, or better yet, something completely new, like a fictitious culture for a game.
I use Friktion, and gotta say, for blurring the boundaries between classical instruments and electronic music, it's a really powerful tool. A lot of fun to be had blending classical with modern genres. Also if you load a violin patch, turn the pressure down to 9oclock on the bow section, and the HF damp to 10 o'clock on the string section, you get a clarinette and woodwind sound. It's really versatile
Search "Reason Friktion" and watch 10 videos of people making violin/cello-adjacent sounds for a half hour. Land on Jordan Rudess making a dozen or so "this is what you COULD do" sounds in under 4 minutes. Thanks so much Jordan.
Awesome to see JR representing Reason. No doubt they can create some really fun devices. It's why I stick with them so far - other DAWs have better workflow features, but none of them seem as 'fun' to me as Reason.
WOW that is awesome. It has some really groovy (🤪) sounds. Will have to check it out (I’m assuming that it’s compatible with my Pro tools) I also want to say Jordan that you are one of (if not the top) Keyboardist around even on the metal guy, I love dream theater I llove songs and The productions and theatrics of the show. And I must say you had the coolest and most ingenious live rig I’ve ever seen.
Just dove into Friktion for the first time today. Are there any preset patches for it? Couldn’t seem to find a way of loading them except for ones I’d saved myself.
Sounds like a cat’s guts on a ukulele with the cat still attached to it. If Propellerheads would not positioned it, as a realistic sounding instrument, that would make way more sense
@@ReasonStudios "what?" and a couple of passive-aggressive emojis is definitely an amazing job for a company's SMO department. But let's pretend you indeed don't understand. The instrument sounds plastic-ish even dynamics and articulation is fine.
Even with your talents, this Reason plugin sounds awful and not appealing. If you want Physical Modeling, SWAM audio modeling is unbeatable. But thanks anyway for trying it out.
That smile around 1:15 really shows how much fun you are having!

I loved that cool improvisation at 2:59!!
Jordan is a complete MASTER!🔥
Very realistic touch. Cool! Santa Maria, RS Brazil.
Incredible!
A new tool for your trade...the way you smile is like a kid with a new toy! 😃
2:30 sounds very cool

Hey Jordan... saying hi from the old old old days!!! Canterbury School Summer Guitar Workshop days... 1988 I think? Congrats on all your success!

Agreed. I adore reason. If I switched DAWS for its workflow. I’d have to have the rack come with me lol
What a sound!
The Legend.. thank you for the masterpiece
I can hear some of those on the next DT album for sure!

Hey Tony, yes, Friktion and Reason is compatible with Pro Tools and any major DAW. Thanks for checking it out! -Stefan
Jordan, can you explain how you configure your lead song in kronos or where we can find download?
How much is the insurance for each finger?

The Kronos is just Aaaaaamazing synth ever.
This synth is crying for MPE
THIS IS NOT SCRIPTED. NO SIR. FRIKTION GOOD. ANY DAW.

But how do you really feel??
what? 😂😘
@@JordanRudessKeys I love the way you're playing it. On the other hand, you'd be playing the same brilliant on Casio MA-120 too.

Yeah but Swam costs a lot more than 99$
I don't think Friktion is going for utmost Realism.
Friktion can go far beyond strings though. But yeah I agree, SWAM is the best in the biz when it comes to physical modeling of acoustic instruments.
