I would totally understand if that kid would never talk to his drunk of a mother or involve her in his life after this. I know it’s over the top to call someone’s mother a drunk, but I have very little sympathy for people especially mothers or fathers that choose to be selfish and stupid by getting behind the wheel with their child after drinking and causing a multi car crash
Context: From what I remember as I had the chsnce to see this episode at a friends house, she was drunk. She used to had problems with drinking and couldn't learn to control it, until she she had her son Jacob. But even then, her addiction won, consuming alcohol before she got in the car with her son, hence leading to this scene. After the huge crash in the highway, they found her car, saving the kid that and her as well while also finding the alcohol bottle. Later on at the hospital, the husband arrive wanting to know why he cant see his wife, officer Athena explained to him what happened and takes him to the other hospital where his son is in surgery to save his life. After all that, she was taken into custody by the police and her son was alright
