gosh so much to explore 100+ hours still on chapter 2 just ridding my horse and appreciating the beauty and the mysterious filled with side stories of the world.
Same lol. I got like 300 hours and story is only 19% complete. I have every camp upgrade and east satchel plus almost all craftable clothing. Also tryin to 100% all challenges and I’m pretty close on most with like 2 complete I think.
What I always do is, go to Rhodes to get the Lancaster from the gunsmith, go to the doctors in valentine (like you did), do the legendary gun slingers missions to get all their guns including a Mauser, go to watsons cabin to get the auto shotgun, go to the gunsmith in st Denis to rob the poker game and when you knock out the gunsmith check the gun he drops as sometimes he drops the semi auto pistol
The Lancaster is a MUST have early in the game. My first couple times playing I remember being so pissed cause you didn’t get that rifle until the robbery with Micah
While in Rhodes idk why but the fence there was unlocked before doing hosea's mission at emerald ranch I never checked the others and have since done the mission so I can't confirm that the Van Horn and St Deines(spelling) were also available early.
Once I get to Horseshoe Overlook I immediately get the gold bar from the burnt town. Then I do the first Strauss mission and hunting with Hosea so I can unlock upgrading for the camp, horse taming and legendary animals. I do the second Hosea mission that unlocks the Fence so I can sell wagons and then upgrade Pearson’s tools. Then I start hunting like a madman. I love getting the skins for the satchels and items for the camp’s appearance. Somewhere in there I tame one of the Arabians, grab the Lancaster from Rhodes and basically live in the wild.
@richtaylor438 oh yea. I love doing that stuff and all the challenges. The only thing that annoys me with the challenges is how you have to wait until you’re at a specific point in the game to continue with certain ones. Like with Bandit you have to wait until the horse fence get’s unlocked in chapter 3 to continue. I think it’s sharpshooter where you have to wait until the bolt action is unlocked for the long scoped kill. You also have to wait until you’re able to shoot multiple times in dead eye to complete one of them. Other than those, I love all the hunting. I do wish there was more than two places to look for a cougar and more than one place to look for a panther tho lmao.

This is my first play through so I’m not 100% you can’t complete it in ch2. I am at 47% completion with the story only being 19%. I’m gonna try and get 100% total completion first time
Same here! It’s all about getting the Legend of the East satchel as quickly as possible so you don’t have to drop items, then straight to the Fence, merchant, etc.😂

I’ve gotten so close but the one challenge that infuriates me, the one that drives me crazy is Gambler. You’re right tho, Herbalist is one of them that you can’t complete until you get to a certain part in the game. Since it’s your first play thru I’ll just say that cause I don’t wanna spoil anything. What also pisses me off so much about “pick every species of herb” challenge is that they don’t tell you which ones you already have so I gotta write them in my notes to remember lmao. Rockstar created one of, if not the most in-depth detailed game ever. Yet they can’t tell me which herbs I already picked?😂 smh
You don't have to unlock the fence at Emerald Ranch....just go to the one in Rhodes. While in Rhodes get the Lancaster Repeater from the gun store basement
Instead of finding all of the ginseng elixirs just get one, then go to a fence or anything similar you can jump over. Drink the elixir and before Arthur drinks it, jump and climb the fence. You will get the xp for your health and still have the same elixir in inventory. Repeat until level 8. This can be done with other tonics, aged pirate rum and valerian root to max stamina and deadeye.
It's worth pointing out you need to complete at least one Money Lending mission in order to unlock the camp ledger so you can do camp upgrades. The fences in Rhodes, Saint Denis, and Van Horn are all open at the start of chapter 2 before the Emerald Ranch mission. The hunting mission with Hosea unlocks the Legendary Animals map, the stables, and the camping grill.
Finding a reliable horse in chapter 2 is my main priority. I prefer using one main horse for the entire game. Any secondary horses I get are investments I max bond with and then sell to the twins. Also in my recent play through, I didn’t do any of the treasure hunts. If you do all of the treasure hunts, your pretty much set for the rest of the game. Making money by hunting and robbing places and playing activity games just makes the game feel more authentic for me.
Ngl I always just keep the horse from Chapter 1 as my main. It's nothing special and obviously there's way better horses, but I love keeping the one that's literally been with you since the start, all the way to the end of Chapter 6.
@@teresa6775there is turkoman glitch in St Denise from the beginning of the chapter 2, but in my recent playtrough i didnt manage to obtain him in a reasonable time so im not sure is still available! In my second playtrough i was able to get golden turkoman early in chapter 2!
#9 Go to the Rhodes gunsmith and get the lancaster repeater, you can also get it in chapter 2. #10 go to old lady Watsons cabin and get the semi auto shotgun.

Also hunting can be super easy, it’s all about using the correct gun for the type of animal you’re hunting. Then it’s just deadeye + headshot. If you’re using the wrong weapon you will never get a 3-star pelt. The game tells you which gun to use for each animal. But as a general rule any rifle will get perfect pelts for large animals. Small animals are either the varmint rifle or small game arrow. Deadeye + headshot with the correct weapon and you should get perfect pelts every single time
If you want to do camp upgrades, it’s best if you contribute first. Do it in 20/21$ increments so your honor goes up. I know it takes a little but it’s worth it long term
I wish I knew about Calloways revolver before I started my current play through, that’s one I hadn’t seen before! Also I didn’t know ginseng elixirs worked that way!

I am convinced that once the game knows what you are looking for they send out a memo...to every deer, rabbit, racoon and squirrel. Get like 10 perfect deer, a few perfect buck, pronghorn doe and buck. Pre load up all the pelts you can to get a head start on the satchel. 8. I like to do the money glitch at Van Horn with the Bow. Get max health and money.
@ just south of Van Horn there’s a house and in the basement 2 guys are passed out. There is 50 dollars on the table. Kill them and take the money. Kill them with the Bow to increase health. Leave the house and ride across the tracks to the west and save the game. Load that save and go rob them again. It’s a bit tedious but I have pulled a few thousand out that glitch. Before I go to the bar in Valentine and get in the street fight with Tommy I want 8 health and 8 stamina.

To sell items before that mission just travel to Rhodes, Saint Denis or Van Horn... those fences are available at the start of chapter 2 but just hidden because you need to travel to clear the map

#6 - You can run and keep hopping to make it across without getting in the water. After you get the shark trinket go towards the woods and setup a camp. From there you can simply fast travel out.
theres something he didnt mention, with any drink that gives xp (either for health, stamina or dead eye) if you jump onto something (ideally a rock) at the same time as you drink it, it doesnt consume it but still gives the effect.
I'm still new to this game, so still learning about the control buttons. When searching goldbar #2, I use punch button (B) rather than jump button (X) to jump lol. After an hour of trying & a few deaths, somehow I managed to get to the train😂
In Limpany, there was a Ginseng that was found in the burned building on the window of the 1st floor (I haven't played in two years, but I can recall it well).
Main things i do is get all gold bars and treasure maps, sell gold bars at fence in rhodes, do strauss and hosea mission, get fast travel, get arabian, get panther saddle, get the legend of the east satchel, and also get the secondary for side arm. then i do all legendary animals and get the rest of the trinkets.
Adding to your Money/ Fast Travel. I killed Flaco first for the JCB stranger mission. Get the Treasure map in his cabin. Once you complete the steing of treasure hunts you end up with 4 Gold Bars. 5 if you count limpany. Thats enough money to upgrade your entire camp.
Btw this was the case for me at least, you can get the off hand holster in that same way you did but you don't even need to do Micha's mission to get it, I was able to get it beforehand (this was it's better for everyone cause once you rescue Sean you can keep Micah out of camp too for as long as you want)

I'm only into my 3rd play thru and I'm trying not to cheat as much as possible however not in a million years would I have tried the "jump thru hoops" to get gold bars 2 and 3 and all the other stuff after that.The risk/reward would never have occurred to me let alone imaging the gymnastic moves required.I suppose the lesson is if it's an old town or relic go exploring and think of crazy moves getting to hard to reach places.Thanks again.

The only things I do that you didn't show are getting the rifle from Hosea's horse after Legendary Bear mission, Using that Rifle to get the Fox Trotter and then getting the bolt action and machete early in the mission where you rescue Shawn. Also get Micah's revolver while up in the snow or I miss it then I get it on the stage coach robbery after getting him out of Strawberry.

I rememeber finding that red Arabian on my own while out exploring. It was a wild feeling since at that time, few had made videos or articles on it even existing, only the white one. I like to believe they did place puzzles so hard in the game no one will ever solve them until decades later😂
The first thing I think I should do is hunt and collect animal material, mainly deer skins, and donate them to Pearson. However, I am very distressed every time because I have to do Leopold's mission to get the upgrade which evokes a sad aspect of this story.
Bro I've played through the story mode like 6 times since this game came out. As soon as you said off hand holster I almost turned the video off because F**k Micah. I didn't know to could buy and use the off hand ones from the trapper before freeing Micah. Mind blown
Hey 7 did you happen to get the map out of the Obelisk thing above where you tame the Red Chestnut Arabian? Also that lake is a great place to get the Perfect Beaver pelt to make 1 of thee best saddles in the game, just take it to the trapper a little past where you get the $3000 map where you end up on top of Mt Shan I believe it is to get 6 gold bars. (I can't remember the name of that Treasure run)
It's called _The Landmarks of Riches Trail._ Also, doing the trail, you get all the jewelry components you need for crafting the talismans. The _Gold Jointed Bracelet,_ the _Silver Chain Bracelet,_ the _Silver Earring_ and the _Gold Earring._ I know you can get these items elsewhere, but they can also be got doing this treasure trail.
Something tells me that if the clip of the Arabian at 3:35 ended with Arthur saying “That’s a good girl!” it would have age restricted this video so fast 😩😳🤣
Here are I did: Get all the perfect pelts for all satchels. Increasing health bar, stamina and dead eye. Find treasure and gold bars, then sell them to the fence to make money in Rhodes. Buy/find all weapons, customize them and increase ammo. Gain high honor and be a good person. Complete all challenges to get all of the equipment (as Arthur in chapter 2, & 3 and as John in the epilogue to complete the herbalist challenge).

Just be holding a rifle or shotgun and jump when you consume something. No need to jump over anything.

I pacify myself until I can finally get my main horse in chapter 3...the dark bay turkoman, best horse of the game.

theres something he didnt mention, with any drink that gives xp (either for health, stamina or dead eye) if you jump onto something (ideally a rock) at the same time as you drink it, it doesnt consume it but still gives the effect.

When searching goldbar #2, I use punch button (B) rather than jump button (X) to jump lol. After an hour of trying & a few deaths, somehow I managed to get to the train😂

That's what I currently do in my second playthrough.. As you said, it helps a lot. I also look for legendary buck to get higher quality animal skins.
In Limpany, there was a Ginseng that was found in the burned building on the window of the 1st floor (I haven't played in two years, but I can recall it well).

Main things i do is get all gold bars and treasure maps, sell gold bars at fence in rhodes, do strauss and hosea mission, get fast travel, get arabian, get panther saddle, get the legend of the east satchel, and also get the secondary for side arm. then i do all legendary animals and get the rest of the trinkets.

In minutes 16.55 there's a gold nugget you need to shoot 1 bottle, do the Eagle eye to see which one

Adding to your Money/ Fast Travel. I killed Flaco first for the JCB stranger mission. Get the Treasure map in his cabin. Once you complete the steing of treasure hunts you end up with 4 Gold Bars. 5 if you count limpany. Thats enough money to upgrade your entire camp.
Btw this was the case for me at least, you can get the off hand holster in that same way you did but you don't even need to do Micha's mission to get it, I was able to get it beforehand (this was it's better for everyone cause once you rescue Sean you can keep Micah out of camp too for as long as you want)

I'm only into my 3rd play thru and I'm trying not to cheat as much as possible however not in a million years would I have tried the "jump thru hoops" to get gold bars 2 and 3 and all the other stuff after that.The risk/reward would never have occurred to me let alone imaging the gymnastic moves required.I suppose the lesson is if it's an old town or relic go exploring and think of crazy moves getting to hard to reach places.Thanks again.
U can go to the fence in Rhodes before u do that mission with Hosea
I take the train to Van Horn for the fence, you don't need to wait until Hosea's mission to unlock the one in Emerald Ranch.
I love that they put this much detail in the game but its overwhelming. feels like a chore tbh

In the early chapter you can go to fence in rhodes without needing to complete that mission. Its only if you want to take ur own time

Theres a semi-auto shotgun in the cellar of a house called Watson`s cabin just a bit west (left) of Wallace station.
You don't need to do the mission with Hosea. You can also just ride to the fence in Rhodes or Saint Denis and sell the gold bars there.
The only things I do that you didn't show are getting the rifle from Hosea's horse after Legendary Bear mission, Using that Rifle to get the Fox Trotter and then getting the bolt action and machete early in the mission where you rescue Shawn. Also get Micah's revolver while up in the snow or I miss it then I get it on the stage coach robbery after getting him out of Strawberry.

I rememeber finding that red Arabian on my own while out exploring.
It was a wild feeling since at that time, few had made videos or articles on it even existing, only the white one.

The first thing I think I should do is hunt and collect animal material, mainly deer skins, and donate them to Pearson.
However, I am very distressed every time because I have to do Leopold's mission to get the upgrade which evokes a sad aspect of this story.
Bro I've played through the story mode like 6 times since this game came out. As soon as you said off hand holster I almost turned the video off because F**k Micah. I didn't know to could buy and use the off hand ones from the trapper before freeing Micah. Mind blown

Fences are available without playing that mission in Rhodes, Saint Denis and van horn

After you break Micha out and he goes to his camp wait as long as possible to do his next mission.

Hey 7 did you happen to get the map out of the Obelisk thing above where you tame the Red Chestnut Arabian?
Also that lake is a great place to get the Perfect Beaver pelt to make 1 of thee best saddles in the game, just take it to the trapper a little past where you get the $3000 map where you end up on top of Mt Shan I believe it is to get 6 gold bars. (I can't remember the name of that Treasure run)
It's called _The Landmarks of Riches Trail._
Also, doing the trail, you get all the jewelry components you need for crafting the talismans. The _Gold Jointed Bracelet,_ the _Silver Chain Bracelet,_ the _Silver Earring_ and the _Gold Earring._ I know you can get these items elsewhere, but they can also be got doing this treasure trail.

I never understood how to tame a horse, how do I point L downwards and then steer it sideways? Or the L down means press it?

Horse get andulsian at Brandywine or Warped Brindle Arabian. Upgrade your satchel is a must.

Here are I did:
Get all the perfect pelts for all satchels.
Increasing health bar, stamina and dead eye.
Find treasure and gold bars, then sell them to the fence to make money in Rhodes.
Buy/find all weapons, customize them and increase ammo.
Gain high honor and be a good person.
Complete all challenges to get all of the equipment (as Arthur in chapter 2, & 3 and as John in the epilogue to complete the herbalist challenge).
Just a heads up… You can deposit a gold bar at the camp and it gives you the money for it. You don’t have to find a fence or anything. 😊
