Can't wait to see the rear window swap. How's the steering stabilizer?
I am very excited about it as well!
To be honest with the steering stabilizer, it really doesn’t pull that hard to the right anything that is crazy noticeable. Does it pull to the right yes. Would it stop me from installing it in someone else’s truck not at all! It takes allot of vibration out of the wheel that you feel from the road, and you really feel more control of your steering. That being said I do still have to do my pitman arm, and idler arm. It definitely has improved though.
I do plan on talking about it in the upcoming videos soon. I want to get this window covered first, and then I will double back on the steering stabilizer 👍
When I did the Bilstein stabilizer it pulled right a bit, but after installing HD tie rods and kryptonite control arms, and getting it aligned, it's dead straight now.
Just installed leather this past weekend. Great video to follow.
I wired the seats similar to what you did so I could get them installed. I’ll install the harness when I do the carpet.
Awesome to know! Thank you 🤝
As a fellow classic and german shepherd owner i feel your pain. Ive sourced a center console but im having a hell of a time fine the mounting bracket and glove box trim for it. Hate that chevy discontinued everything.
Any don’t seats and trim out of any 1500-3500 gmt 800 will fit 👍 even the avalanches like i got these from. Suburban, and Yukons as well.
Thank you so much for giving a link to those sockets, I have been looking for them and haven’t been able to find what they were called
The Cadillac panoramic sunroof swap is something I would love to do . Not a lot of videos of it being done but it’s super dope.
I’ve had that one requested a few times, but it just rains too much here, and with the snow I don’t want to risk it lol
I don’t blame ya
I guess you weren’t planning on selling or keeping the old back seats with the cable but if you were it’s really easy to get that cable out
Ya it wasn’t on the top of my list of things to do lol
@@DIYDiesel thanks for the vid I gotta take my seats out for the swap gonna replace the carpet while I’m at it
Doing this swap now. Very very helpful.. thank you
Awesome to know! Glad it helped
The word "enable" makes me crazy in this video.... you use it a lot, but not correctly. I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. Otherwise, the video was very helpful.
You really took the time to judge him on the way he talks…
This video really help me out bro thanks a lot . Looking forward to seeing the outcome of the window
Appreciate it! Glad it could help 👏
Hex sockets can remove front bolts aswell, cant say numbers off top of my head but i had to use at j yard.
I think it’s a 15mm if your in a pinch it’ll work, but you do risk rounding it out 👍
@@DIYDiesel definitely, especially not knowing if they were broke free before or spilled drink rusting them etc
Never heard of that rear window swap, I’m intrigued! And I want to do a full charcoal swap to my truck I’m not a fan of the light gray
Once I get these rear seats in I will confirm that avalanche seats are 100% direct swap. Seems to be no good answer anywhere so im gunna find out 😂
@@DIYDiesel from what I’ve read you need 2nd row seats from a Suburban or Yukon XL in order for them to fit in a 2500HD or 3500HD. I could be wrong though
@@alexgale1525 ya that’s what I’ve herd as well but when I took these out they came out exactly how mine did so fingers crossed we shall see 🤞
The reason they’re bolts instead of nuts is for safety reasons so
Your seat doesn’t come loose or move in an accident
More so wondering why the fronts are a specialty bolt/nut and the backs are normal
love your chevy, brother! another dark charcoal family member! lol And thanks for the video. I just got my 04 Avalanche, trying to reupholster that front row. Kinda impossible to find a used set in a proper condition here in Florida.
Awesome! Appreciate the support for real! 🙌 ya it’s hard to find decent seats here. The seat shop was like 1800 just for the fronts new padding and leather, so this was a cheaper option lol
@@DIYDiesel quick question brother, have you unplugged the battery before removing front seats? my seats got an airbag inside, I heard its a good idea to unplug the battery in order to avoid accidental airbag deployment...
@@edgarsi I did not, I just unplugged the side airbag first before I did anything. 100% I would suggest it just because you never know. I definitely should have 👍
Man! I’m having a struggle with my Silverado. The previous owner installed leather seats and the harness doesn’t match mine which I have a airbag light with a failed state inspection. Any recommendations would be helpful. Can I share a picture?😢
Will those leather bucket seats fit if I keep my center jump seat?
Very well detailed video
I got Escalade EXT seats from a 05 to put into my DMAX. Does anyone know if I’m missing a bracket or something? The EXT drivers left rear rail has 2 studs to mount into the floor, rather than the single bolt like yours/stock.
Hey man I know I’m late to the game here. I’ve got everything figured out.. accept the fact that it looks like you taped up the plugs. Did you not re connect the Two plugs? The one coming out of the floor and the seat?
I thought some airbag light would come on possibly!
ThankYou
I did not reconnect the plug’s because you don’t need them if you are not using the heated seats, and I did not have any air bag lights. If I did I would just reconnect the air bag wires. Would be pretty simple to find.
So I actually have heated leather captains seats in my 05’, but I’m considering swapping to cloth captains seats, with the 4 way power driver seat. Am I gonna have to change the wiring harness coming out of my truck to accommodate the cloth powered seat? Or will my leather seat connections work just fine?
The seat connection should work fun you’ll just have more pins in the harness ready for if you want to go back to heated they just won’t operate
Trying to get this project down to my 2003 silverado ex cab
Can you explain the wiring better
How do you turn off the service air bag message?
You shouldn’t have that because the connection is the same so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Did you ever put your backseat in? I tried to use a back seat from a 1 ton track and the brackets are completely different.
Yup back seats went in perfectly
Can you go the other way? Remove a center console and add the jump seat?
Yes you can
He almost poked me in the eye 🤣
😂😂😂
Did you have any issues with your radio staying on after you did the swap? Ever since I’ve done this, my radio will not time out at all. It’s constantly got power
Looks nice man! We’re you able to convert the ac to work for the rear?
I wasn’t able to take the duct work from the donor truck unfortunately
How do you know what seats fit from other vehicles? I have a 2004 chevy silverado 1500 WT
The 1500s will fit any truck 99-07 because you don’t have to worry about the hump in the back of the cab for the oversized transmission
Regular 15mm and 7/16 or 11 work on thoes bolts too dont really neeed the e sockets
Good video bro
Thank you 🙏
When you spliced together the power and ground wires, what did you do about the airbag sensor? I did the same thing in my truck I put captain chairs but I don’t know what to do about the “service airbag sensor” that pops up because the plugs aren’t plugged in (the seat came from the same model truck just the higher package).
So it looks like I didn’t point it out but after splicing the power I still plugged the harness together because the sensor wires where in the same spot on the harness. It’s just a contact so those two wires don’t need the power that you took off for the splice 👍
@@DIYDiesel appreciate you getting back to me within minutes! But my harnesses didn’t fit the same:/. So I think I’m gonna cut off a harness from a junked truck and connect it to mine. Amazing video, and thanks for the new info I learned when I want to finish the swap🤙
@@gregoriobarrera2752 no problem at all! You could always just take the two wires off and splice them without connecting the harness as well that way you don’t need to go through all the hassle of the harness. Just locate the two airbag sensor wires
Did you ever figure out which wires were the airbag sensor wires ? @DIY Diesel
How are y’all finding leather seats? Tho I just need the front tbh cuz I got a big ass sub box behind me so took my rear seat out in my ext cab plus I don’t wanna get more cases 😂 😉 🏎 💨
Damn that’s one big ass sub!
@@DIYDiesel nah just 2 15s on 5,000watts just got a huge custom box to fit the whole rear cab 😂 and do I need the left under steering column dash piece about to go pick up the console and glove box piece but do I need the left one
You don’t need the left one btw I put them right next to each other same size try them both on and they are the same fit so u can save some money next time or give the advice u only need the glove box piece
Please let me know where you found those and how much it was for all of it. Good video man
Appreciate it! I found them on FB market place from a Chevy avalanche part out. 250 for all 👍 I could have stripped the harness and door panels if I wanted for the heated seats to work, but I was too lazy 🤣
Did you have to change the part under the staring wheel just like the glove box?
I did not have to. You can if you want, but the way it’s formed there not really a need
What is drivers side wasnt power
I got a 05 Silverado LS factory driver power seat and I bought it with leather seats swapped from an LT/Tahoe truck or something and the airbag light is on…tech plugged the scanner in and it says (seat track position sensors) and (passenger occupancy sensor) what do you think I should do ? The passenger seat is power but no power hooked up so I’ll likely follow your video to get power on that side but would I need to get a harness from another truck along with the sensors to make the light go away ?
California has been doing the titan windows for over five years now buddy
Yup 👍 that’s where I got the idea from credit him for everything
so any chevy avalanche interior will fit in any chevy silverado? Or how do do I check to see if what parts will fit in any vehicle? like how did you know that the chevy avalanche seats would fit in your truck? And for the weird looking bolts are they all the same in all cars? Thinking of getting that set you mentioned. I also have a chevy silverado.
For the corresponding years yes they will fit into Silverados up to 07 like mine. For 1500s they will work, but the rears from 1500 will not work in 2500 and avalanches because they have a straight frame not split. If you are taking them from a 2500 Or avalanche into a 1500 it will work. Not every manufacturer uses those style bolts, but GM typically does. I hope that helps
@@DIYDiesel yes thank you!! I just got a chevy silverado from facebook market place wanting to learn how to work on my own vehicle. Cause I don’t know anything but I gotta learn somewhere. Any advice/ideas of where I can learn more? I already subscribed to you after watching the video. 🤣
@@AlejandraHdez is it a diesel or a gas truck? Also honestly your best to just look up videos as you go to be honest. Allot of people now I’ve noticed just focus on the entertainment side of things instead of publishing educational or how to styles.
@@DIYDiesel it’s gas & okay well thanks for that! Do you have a video on which tools are best? I know you mentioned the tools on amazon.
did you ever go about wiring your heated seats? I bought some seats out of a tahoe with heat and I'm looking to swap em into my truck that doesnt
Thank you bro
you think i’d be able to do this with 4x4 on the floor? i really hate my cloth bench seat and would like a leather console but the shifter is stopping me
You would just have to extend your transfer case shifter, and you probably would have to loose the cup holders. My suggestion would be to install the captains seats, and have a local car audio company custom make you a center console 👍
What happens if you're taking the seats out of a vehicle that has no front end and there is no power to move the seats backwards
No front as in? And if there is no power to the vehicle you will have to get power to it maybe bring alone a battery or something.
Hold on is the rear seats the same size of a crew cab? Ik I sound stupid but please help me out on this 😭
From a Chevy avalanche yes they are. They used the same cab vs the 1500s are a different cab when it comes to the floor
I just want to change my center console. My seats are fine and not power
Did you connect tge rear ac /heat with that console and if so please elaborate
I did not. You will need to use the harness from the donor vehicle. Also for the proper hvac route you will need to remove the lower hvac duct to replace the current one in the truck. My back passengers have never complained about not having it. They never had it before so I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal lol.
How did you connect the duct for the rear air vents on the console ?
I just left it because I didn’t take out the hvac vents from the donar truck that is how you would have to do it.
hey brother in same situation as you just bought mint leather heated seats and trying to wire them in. do u have a list of what wire colors are what that would be a massive help
Are you trying to get the heated seats to work as well? Unfortunately I did not list the all the wires in the harness
I need the same info please get back
What model and year truck do you have? I’m looking to do a cloth to leather swap as well on my 04 sierra. Different info everywhere I search.
2500 or 1500? And this truck is a 2007 Chevy 2500HD 6.6l
@@DIYDiesel it’s a 1500. Thanks for the reply.
@@ericmorales2272 so the fronts will swap no matter what, but the rears will not. Because you have straight bars running across for the rear seats due to not having to fit the over sized transmission. Concept is still the same though for how you remove, and install them. Just different rear mounting points. It is possible that the rears will swap from a 2500 to a 1500, but I cannot give you a positive answer if that will work or not due to I have not swapped it that way.
What all does the lumbar switch do? Looks like up/down and fwd/back switch.
You are correct. It moves the lumbar in and out up and down 👍
@@DIYDiesel I'd probably put a new foam in the drivers seat, but nice find! I share your pain...sourcing the right color seats is very challenging especially since not everyone ships.
@@LBZOverlander I would love to re foam them, but man the quality stuff is expensive 😮
@@DIYDiesel Just the drivers side lower. But yea it's spensive. How about a carpet upgrade video?
@@LBZOverlander so I am in the process of deciding what I want to do with the carpet in my truck 👍
Hey I’m wondering if you’d know if a 2003 Silverado leather interior would fit and work in a 2004 sierra?
Yes gmc sierra, Yukon, Escalade, Chevy Silverado suburban, Tahoe, avalanche all the same from captains chairs forward
Can you install 03 to 07 gmc front seats in a 02 gmc??
Late questjon hoping u respond I’m doing this exact project at this very second would 16 gauge wire work as well?
I wouldn’t suggest 16 gauge due to the power wire that factory sends to the drivers side is a 12 it’s best to match that 👍 if you do 16 I’d run it in a way you can easily replace it the next day.
@@DIYDiesel for sure running to the hardware store right now for some wire and some connectors hoping all works perfect. So basically just run the orange and black wires spliced on their own to the passenger side and full front and back and up and down should work fine ? Got my leather seats today and have the exact same project lol
@@isaccmartinez6533 yup 👍 you won’t have the heated seat option obviously tho just keep that in mind due to not changing all the harnesses 👍. All the other added functions will work including the lumbar.
@@DIYDiesel perfect man thanks so much for the quick response saved me big time and with the passenger seat all I’d need to do is splice with black and orange and should be good?
@@isaccmartinez6533 no problem at all 🤝 Yes that’s all you will need to do
Do I need the left leg dash piece just bought a center console and picking it up in a few hours so if possible can someone lmk asap so I can ask for it if I need it
Yes you do
My deepest apologies I did not see your comment. You will need the passenger side dash piece. Not the drivers side.
WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR OLD SEATS
Gave the fronts to my father in law because his seats where bad. Then the rears I just took to the dump 👍 no one wanted them locally
How about the seat belt
For the rear?
what year is YOUR silverado?
2007 👍
How do you hook up the heat seats
You will need the door panels door wiring harness, and the floor harness out of the donor truck.
I opted not to use them I really just wanted some cheap leather seats with a center console. Along with the issues the heated seats have.
With my remote start the truck gets warm enough I don’t really need heated seats. If you want to utilize it you will need the above mentioned harnesses 👍
Would this fit on a 01 tahoe??..
I do not believe so
Lots of really great info but…. You need to slow down just a bit and photo just a little longer because I can’t figure out where you are showing. Thanks from a wifey helper
I will work on it 🤝 thank you for the support! 👏
hey i did get those bolts out without the e sockets and i just used regular sockets. they didn’t strip either
Ya I have done it before, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.
Did yours have heated seats?
My old truck did not, and I opted to not do that big ol conversion if you have the full donor vehicle on hand or easily accessible it’s easy to do. Unfortunately where I got these from was 4hrs away, and he sold the door panels to someone else
What did you do for the ac in the back?
So enable to get the vents to work you need to take out the vents from the donor truck. I decided not to do that because when it was a bench seat they didn’t have it back there anyway lol 😂
I can honestly say I’ve never had anyone in the back complain about the air being too cold or hot in the back before, or after doing the swap.
Shit tbh I just skipped thru the vid so idk if u said how much u paid but I see these setups going for ez $1,800-2,500 complete seats n console if u got them for pretty cheap u got one hell of a steal to find all them seats with really no rips at all
I think I paid $300 lol
its console***
😂🤦♂️ dough (in Homer Simpson voice)
lmao all good. Lot of good info.
