Oh my gosh, this is so helpful! Repeated £90+ charges over the past few years for flow issues with the hot water. Something to do with replacing or 'greasing the cartridge' according to the plumber and he just canceled on me - 2 days before I have paying guests. So I'm desperate I have to try and repair it myself. Thank you. 😘🙏🏼
Thank you very much , we had this exact problem. Most of the plumber shops I went to were trying to sell me the bar. Instead I got a catridge for £5 and the problem is sorted. Your videos are very helpful
Our bar mixer was playing up so I thought it was the cartridge. Couldn't get one so was looking at a new one. The first advice given here is probably the most important, as it was the hot filter clogged up. All back in place and working wonderfully. Thank you Doctor George.

Mine has a slight drip issue when turned off. Happened a few years back and Bristan just sold me a replacement. I found my Bristan cartridge lasted around 4 years before the drips started.
Really help video. Any tips for removing the cartridge from a Crosswater Shower (MB510SQ)? I'm pretty sure it's the third option in your video, but doesn't seem to want to budge!
Hi I assume the unit must be disconnected from wall to do? Or can one do it without removing? Does the cartridge stop water which will flow out while connected to wall?
I need to replace my cartridge in the shower. Mine is similar to the 2nd example but there is no grub screw. Not sure if I need pliers and try to budge it with that. Any ideas? Thanks
Hi could you please recommend a reliable replacement shower bar please as a novice very confused as there are huge amount of versions about, my old one which I personally don't know the make of has been very reliable and trouble free for approx 22 year's, your advice would be much appreciated,

My IFLO Ledbury has a thermostatic valve that seems to push against a spool or shuttle thing. Today it was stuch on cold. I really need to free off this valve. Any ideas or is it a warranty job?
Thank you. I have the second type, and due to water hardness, the temperature regulation degrades over time, so I need to pull the cartridge and descale it. Knowing how to get it out is key, because when stuff doesn't move in any obvious way, you don't want to start prying with a screw driver or big pliers.

My mixer is only three years old and the temperature and pressure are great the start, but after a couple of minutes the flow reduces. Would this be the temperature cartridge that needs attention or the flow one? The water coming out of the wall is piping hot, but the shower is only just hot enough even with pressing the temperature overused button.
Thanks for the video. We gradually have lost hot water in the shower, so it must be the filter or the cartridge. I wanted to check filters first as recommended but the question is, how do I take the shower bar off? It has a rain shower attached and I cannot find the way to detach the tube going up!
I have a question. Wich cardige can handle hot water over 80C. which is better?From my experience if you have hot water over 80C from a sun collector the thermostat cartige get worse and worse till it fail totally.

Thanks, thought I would have to replace the thermostat valve on the bath mixer tap, but I will check the filters first, as I have had issues with the sink taps getting blocked with limescale. Thanks you have save single mum for calling the plumber out.

I have a Mira Stylus MIRA-1660.185 that has an issue where it is hard to adjust the flow... and then the hot goes really cold and fast.....is this something I could repair or maintain?...Im a mechanic and have 3 plumbers in the family so am used to holding spanners....thank you!
My shower doesn't get as hot as the sink. In fact it only gets lukewarm. Problem suddenly appeared a week ago. Any ideas?
The bother with my Mira EV Atom exposed mixer shower was dripping from the outside of the shower hose spout at the centre of the bar. I'm on to my 3rd exchange unit from my local SF branch.

Hi my shower is leaking from the temperarure gage. Will this be an esdy fix by replacing the cartridge? It has an alan key grub to remove it. Thanks
I am finding that after removing and cleaning my cartridge (soaking in white vinegar to remove limescale) that it will not push in quite far enough in order to refit the grub screw. The hole in the cartridge does not quite align with that in the housing. Hammering it seems to be the only option but surely there must be a better way?
Hi i have a CarafloV100 or i believe its the V100 fitted in our static caravan and its dripping is there a service pack available do you know . I am Shure it might be frost damage as dripping from the thermostat end and sticks when it gets hot

But how do you pop a circular cap that covers the cartridge screw when there is nowhere to insert a screwdriver etc? I have a Vado bar valve and it has circular caps that are flush, and I can't see how to pop them! thanks
I think my Triton Thames is the screw type but it just won’t undo and now the exposed part of the plastic outer of the cartridge has snapped off!
My temperature valve just fell off, what would have caused this?
How do you shut of the water before replacing the valve?
Couldn't pull the cartridge out. Must be heavily scaled. Can I put the while mixar bar in a bath of descaler. If there is no name on the shower unit, how do you recognise the cart no. Mines a brass head. Asked plumber supply and there answer was-buy a whole new unit
Love it, ‘unscrew the grub screw’ and the cartridge will ‘normally’ fall out. Grub screw welded with lime scale and cartridge needing a gorilla to remove it. I love the ‘In a perfect world’ shower valve servicing.
However still useful as the parts can be visualised. 🙂👍
why is the preassure lower when i turn it to hot water? on a Grohe....
My tap is a Bristan Aristan AR2 and has none of these mechanisms. No large nut inside, no flats on the piece behind the spindle and no grub screw underneath. It won't pull out either. I've been on the phone to Bristan for an hour so far! and even they're struggling.
Hi I had a shower put in about two months ago the water coming from the wall to the mixer is red hot but the water coming out of the shower is only warm. I turned took the end off and turned the little good thing round a bit that made it nice and hot for a few weeks now it’s only coming out warm again but red hot where it comes into the mixer. The shower was brand new about two month ago. Any idea why the water is only warm? Thanks

Why do the operation so far from the camera, sure we can't see what your doing
Do you have to turn the water off first
If the drip is on a combi boiler the boiler won't fire on the drip.
If no meter the water isn't a cost.
Still its good for the environment to fix

Thanks for that - i keep buying a new shower bar, on my 3rd in a year, only seem to last 3/4 months then the water temp starts getting colder then its hit a miss time with the temp - just got to work out now what type i have - HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY - even Santa has his yearly shower

Please tells me why they don't standardise these cartridges, it is ridiculous that there are so many all with different means of removal. So many have been designed to ensure it is almost impossible to remove them when they have been in use and are scaled up. Some of the worst engineering I have seen
