  • Shower valve seems to be stuck. I go through repairing, cleaning, maintaining shower valves. Due to limescale I had lots of problem opening and closing the shower tap. In addition, the shower tempreture control was very difficult to adjust. Walking through the processing of fixing both issues.

Thank you for making the mistake by not emptying the water. My Aqua Lisa cartridge was stuck solid and there isn’t much to grip on. After seeing your video, I turned the tap off, set the temp to full cold, put the temp dial screw back and reconnected the tap. I turned the cold water supply back on and then tried pulling the cartridge out by the screw. It worked! The water pressure did the trick.

😢😢i followed ur guide worked well other than i had to replace the whole mixer shower in the end. as both mixer and on and off side the grub screw threads fell apart as soon as tried to do it up figer tight. so both mixer and on off were so loose bearly holding on 😢.
after speaking to 5 plumbers they all said just replace the whole mixer unit the catriges only come out 3 out of 10 attempts.

Small tip about the position of the temperature knob. The way you calibrate it is as follows: You measure the water temperature with a thermometer and you put the knob back in the corresponding position.
That being said, it's not very important at all. Because people will adjust according to feeling and not according to the number on the knob.

Great video! How often does one need to do this type of maintenance? I mean it probably depends on the minerals in the water, but I am curious what folks are experiencing. We are considering this type of shower faucet for our remodel, but one manufacturer says to soak it in vinegar for 24 hours (meanwhile our house water is shut off for that whole time!) Thanks.

    Hi
My temperature control is absolutely stuck in position and I can't even turn it. After watching this video, decided I will go DIY. Managed to remove the outer covering and the valve screw. The temperature control mechanism is still in there but I cannot see any Allen screw or anything else that is holding the mechanism in place. Any tips or idea to remove it out? Do I also have to remove the on-off valve on the other side? I am a beginner to this and am clueless. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a very similar unit in my bathroom and I have an extra question. You mentioned in the beginning of the video that the water pressure knob was loose - mine is acting a bit similar + it doesn't always completely shut off the water and I have to use a bit more force to turn it all the way into the closed position than I actually feel comfortable to do (I'm afraid that I'll break it off). Does it generally require just a clean from the limescale build-up, or is there some kind of a gasket inside that may require a replacement too? What's your opinion on this?

    • @DIMTips
