My Phantom

For years, Line Van Den Berg was searching for the ‘perfect’ female climbing partner to share her passion for mountains. Then she found me.
But was this search really about finding a partner, or was it about finding her own place in society?
Line Van Den Berg, 30, tragically died in May 2023 when her and her two climbing partners, Mats Wentholt and Jeroen van Ommen, were descending from 3,754m Grosshorn in the Bernese Alps when an avalanche swept them away.
My film portraits Line climbing mixed routes in the Alps, with the highpoint being the First Female Ascent of the Phantom Direct on the south face of the Grandes Jorasses with me in January 2022.
She was a captivating storyteller and she produced this film having had zero film experience prior. I wish to tell her how proud of her I am.

That was unexpectedly good film that you made (unexpected because of the low view count). It was a new and deep point of view man and woman stereotypes even in the mountaineering.
