Did Dinosaurs Ever Live Alongside Humans?

  • You may have been told online or at special interest museums that dinosaurs once lived alongside humans, or maybe even still live today. Here we look closely at this claim, and discover what science can tell us.
    This animation was based partially on two wonderful books:
    'Hunting Monsters' which is about the quests of various scientists and explorers attempting to discover mythical beasts, some of which turned out to be real! You can get yourself a copy here: www.amazon.com/Hunting-Monste...
    And the book 'Dinosaurs - How they lived and evolved'. This is a huge, full-colored book, summarizing all the discoveries we've made about dinosaurs since the first was described in 1824. It's the best book I read this year (the year is still young I suppose but... It's pretty dang good!) Get your copy here: www.amazon.com/Dinosaurs-How-...
    FALSE CLAIMS DEBUNKED
    In this video we show the best supposed evidence that humans and dinos once lived together: several corpses, supposed fossils, and pieces of "ancient" dinosaur artwork. Below are links where you can learn more about each claim. Where possible, I also link to articles by creationists debunking these claims because some of our viewers are reluctant to accept secular sources alone:
    FOSSIL OF DINO EATING MAN - This was an April fools joke put on by the NMSR. Unfortunately, some dino enthusiasts were so eager to believe that it is still used today in debates as proof that humans and dinosaurs once lived together: www.nmsr.org/april_fool.html
    DINO AND HUMAN FOOTPRINTS TOGETHER -
    These "human" prints are actually dinosaur tracks with the toes naturally filled in afterwords, leaving a vaguely human-like shape:
    www.talkorigins.org/faqs/palux...
    Creationists also now accept that these prints are not human: creation.com/human-and-dinosau...

      T rex,triceratops,and stegosaurus arent near the biggest dinosaurs. In reality Baryonyx is one of the largest dinosaurs that i know of that have been discoverd. It was a carnivore larger than t rex. And the largest herbivore, well the name i cant remember i remember it massive. Easily 5 times the wieght of stegosaurus

    • @flumbofrommelkont6863
      @flumbofrommelkont6863 7 років тому +15

      Not even close to being correct.
      Baryonix was about 9-10 meters long, T.rex 12-13. And while there were some carnivores that were longer, T.rex was still more heavily built and easily outweighed them. Yes, that uncludes Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurus for anyone else reading. Set these animals skeletons next to each other, scale them properly, and you'll find that neither was larger, just a bit longer. T.rex was both wider and taller (excluding Spinosaurus' sail of course)
      as for the largest ever, it weighed way, WAY more than five times a Stegosaurus, Look up Bruhathkayosaurus and other Titanosaurs. Stegosaurus was about the size of, and weighed as much as an adult African Ellephant, so give or take 5-6 tons, some Titanosaurs however, are estimated at 80 to 100 tons.
      I don't even know where you got that Baryonix is the biggest ever from, that's never been claimed by anyone.

    • @SysterYster
      @SysterYster 7 років тому

      Maybe you mean a titanosaur of some kind? Like Saltasaurus? Very huge long neck dinos. Baryonyx is a large carnivore dinosaur, but far from the biggest. It weighed between 1-2 tonnes and was up to 10 meters long, while a T-rex weighed around 8-9 ton and could get to 12,5 meters long. A giganotosaurus would be around 12-13 meters and weigh up to around 13 ton. So no, baryonyx is far from the largest. It's large, but T-rex and many others are much larger. Especially the spinosaurus (which does look a bit like the baryonyx, maybe you confused the two?) that could be up to 18 meters long and weigh up to 20 tonnes. It is the largest known carnivore.

    So did the swiss army knife species lived along side the dinosaurs? That's the _REAL_ question.

    • @foxymetroid
      @foxymetroid 7 років тому +75

      The fossil evidence, as clearly shown in the photo, suggests that Swiss Army Knife subspecies (Exercitu Cultro Rhaetia) evolved alongside dinosaurs during the Cretaceous Period. It's amazing the subspecies is still kicking relatively unchanged.

    • @HaydenTheEeeeeeeeevilEukaryote
      @HaydenTheEeeeeeeeevilEukaryote 7 років тому +13

      foxymetroid That is not true. While that one branch of the specie remained the same throughout history, we can't say that no changes from the specie population as a whole remained the same. There are many vastly different swiss army knives. But there is one problem I have with the shot. The photo shows a swiss army knife outside of the layer, and it is a newer model and doesn't look fossilized. I think the specimen was put there by humans, either in order to deceive us, or for another reason. Maybe the specimen was there for a different reason and we just mistaken it for being appart of the layer. Or maybe the original comment was a joke that I just ruined 🖕

    Didn't Fred Flintstone live alongside the dinosaurs? For those of you too young to know, the Flintstones were a race of humans that lived alongside dinosaurs and had rudimentary technology like self propelled cars. Unfortunately a great flood wiped away all evidence of their existence apart from a series of videos that were preserved and can be watched on you tube.

    I've always wondered if it was possible, like maybe some dinosaurs continued to exist in a very remote location. It just seemed so unlikely that *every* dinosaur would have been wiped out. It must have been a horrifying catastrophe to get rid of them all. Another thing I've always wondered about is why didn't dinosaurs develop a high level of intelligence? They existed for such a long time and birds [their descendants] are quite smart [corvids and parrots for example].

      In the narrative of your religion, your perfect god creates the universe. He also created hell. He also created the criteria by which people are sent to hell. He then creates a loophole for which people can avoid hell, which is to worship Jesus. He then creates a punishment for not worshiping Jesus, which is, surprise surprise, being sent to hell.
      So if Jesus=God, then your god sacrificed himself (but not really since perfect beings can't experience suffering), in order to save us from what he is going to do to us if we don't allow him to save us, which is send us to hell. It's one big circular mess of immorality and irrationality. Which is one of the reasons so many people reject it.

      If your god was truly all powerful he wouldn't need a human sacrifice to save people from a punishment he created and controls. This is really a leftover bit from ancient forms of Hebrew polytheism that Christians fail to understand in context.
      The ancient Israelites believed that gods other than their own existed, even to the point in which their god (Yahweh) married another god (Ashera). They did not believe in an afterlife, nor some sort of ethereal plane, so when second and third century Romans created Christianity, they decided to toss all other gods into a devil character that did not previously exist, cobble together the various saviour gods into Jesus, and then created the rather silly description that drives the theology, aka: celebration of ritual human sacrifice because animal sacrifices were all the rage back then.
      It wasn't until the third century that Christians tried to claim that 1+1+1=1

      Psycho Dad no , because at the beginning they had to explain that birds are dinosaurs

    • @spderweb
      @spderweb 7 років тому

      Nope. There's actually been accounts of mini apatosaurus being hunted by the Pygmy in the jungles. Giant Squid are also telling in that they likely are remnant of dinosaur times, and therefor, the possibility that some of the larger aquatic dinosaurs survived extinction (at least for a little while) during human existence is totally plausible. There's plenty of possibility that some survived it all. I mean, crocodiles did and they were in the same circumstances as the dinosaurs. It just depends on how long they managed to last before finally disappeared or evolved into something else.
      I hold a theory that Bigfoot WAS real at one point. IF the Patterson video was real, and not faked, it could very well be the last of its kind. Same goes for some of the other cryptid sightings from the past. They could have been real at one time, but those creatures were on their last legs and are no longer on earth.
      The reason there's no bone evidence for anythign i jsut read up top, is because Dinosaurs were in an era where things happened that were positive for preserving skeleton. These days, there's less of that. Go out into the forest and try to find a fox skeleton, or any other skeleton for that matter. You'd be hard pressed to find one.

    Two things: Since there are 'layers' of earth with different fossil records, does that mean the radius of earth is slowly growing larger and larger? Also, how do we think flightless birds survived the meteorite impact?

    • @StatedClearly
      @StatedClearly  5 років тому +5

      The earth gets slightly larger each year because of space dust hitting us but it's negligible. The rest of the layering is constantly recycled when tectonic plates sink and melt. There is no net gain.
      I don't know enough about the dino extinction to say, off the top of my head, if flightless birds survived or if they evolved from flying birds after the extinction.

      While I can say I have an amazing imagination and love to think about all these scenarios, it's just that. You have think about what is atomically possible as well and historically possible and in general mammals stayed small until the large reptilians disappeared because of adaptation. Reptiles and those similar were on land first - then eventually warm blooded animals occured. With evidence of the asteroid being a big chain reaction that lead to the reptiles fall, mammals were able to take over in size and fairly compete with the remailing reptiles whom where by that point smaller. Along with climate change and overall the lower amounts of oxygen and increase of CO2... Yaknow... Even if humans lived along side dinos, humans just 6 thousand years ago were VASTLY different from present humans physically. Features change through adaptation but let's say a form of similar humans occured at that time, they would be SMALL like probably half out average size now in order to survive - also we would be more suited for climbing and therefore not 100% bipedal because face it we wouldn't have figured out how to make weapons and as the humans we were we were prey.

And they needed a LOT of food for their sized
