O M G sketchy is a under statement for that run lol in my personal experience. But I did complete Chaos with the 4 Ninja's, well 3 lol . Had to reset and try again, cause had a ninja die to kraken (2stoned). Then another die to a wiz vamp rt before the masamune , uuhg . But 1 reset later and I decided to go solo for kraken #2 didn't want to risk another death. So I made it to the masamune. Two double worm's before and after plus one more after Tiamat. But we made it through!!!With your much appreciated guidance!!! Can't wait for the next run!!!!
On the NES no. Once you know it you know it. It is set to the games code. The only way you could get it randomized is by modding the game using a randomizer.
One question, in elfland you always go into town using the northeast entrance. Wouldn't you save time if you are coming from the west if you enter from the southwest icon? I believe they all put you into the same place once in town.
So the towns I walk into varry based on different things like if I need to skip encounters or set up my steps for the next section. They are rarely used for just fastest to walk into.
Having dead party members, I can level up the rest of my team faster. Mostly in this run I want to level up 1 guy as fast as I can because on Chaos (the hardest fight in the game) I only have one Masamune. The last 3 party members just support the main guy. Lastly you only get 3 ribbons in the game so only 3 people can survive most of the instant death moves in the game. This could be fixed if you had a white wizard cast WALL or ARUB but a lot of my challenge teams don't have a white wizard.
the short sworda the thief can equip are all very cool, too bad you never get to see them playing the game normally because of how good silver sword is and how only thief make use of short swords. Interesting eye grind, how much faster is this then the usual agama grind?
So the "Short Sword" is useable by the red mage and the fighter. They are commonly used during speedruns. If you mean the elemental swords they also get used in speedruns but yes they are out classed in casual play if you grind for a ton of money by the silver swords.
@@chriskroutil1518 I meant were sword rune sword coral sword etc I think they technically count as Daggers but not really because the mages cannot equip them. Stuff like the Falchion and Rapier too.
I'll start streaming it tomorrow morning if I'm feeling up to it after I get off work. But next week starting Monday is when I'll really get going on it.
Scimitars are the better option because they provide higher attack % and they're only 200 gold at provoka. I usually use those until I can get the falcon sword and then the rune sword, and the dragon sword by the time I reach melmond.
They actually aren't better until you are level 10-11. So the sabers make it so you can actually damage break monsters and they also have a much higher critical hit rate. All the scimitars do is raise your chance to hit by about 2.5%. Sabers raise your average damage per swing by 4.5 and CRIT rate by 2%. They are by far the superior weapon.
@ShaneZell nice. I usually only have one theif in my party if I do take one along. I usually use the fighter, black belt, theif, red mage combo. I may try all thiefs after watching u though
Great content, concise playlists, 10/10
Very interesting learning each weapon has its own critical percent chance. It always seemed like that, but never knew for sure.

I'm glad that I could help you out. I'll eventually get back to doing NES runs. When I do, I'll work on the non-class changed runs.
I love the thief/ninja, but I definitely see the difficulty in having *only* thieves/ninjas. Awesome though!
7:44:35 6 Damage Baku. The disappointment in your voice 🤣🤣
This is my favorite FF after VI. Good stuff! Nowhere near as good as you though.
I always thought the ninja should be able to equip 2 of certain weapons
@@lawrencebashlor8811 The choice of two weapons or one and a shield would be pretty cool.
Edge, excellent name choice.
Thanks, very interesting! Is it possible to do a run with a completely unknowable (and thus random) step route in this game?

@@shanezell Makes sense. That's what I figured, it's not like you can just unknow it.
@@chriskroutil1518 yeah most old games are not very random, code just wasn't great back then.
Oh god what manner of hell have you seen sir?
Yeah...I did the first part of this run like 6 times before I got something halfway decent to show everyone. It was a painful couple weeks.
@@shanezell I believe it. You're made of sterner stuff than I.
I thought for sure Chaos would cast cure 4 and you would’ve been screwed.
I mean that is how a lot of Chaos battles go.

@@shanezell Gotcha. Knew there was a reason. I just couldn't see it :)
If light travels so fast, how come it's never caught a ninja?
I just started watching your channel. What is the benefit of allowing your party members to die? I noticed you often have at least one dead character.
