Had that problem and changing the ignition switch switched fixed it. 9 months later it's the same again. Gonna look at that box. Thanks for the guide mate👍
Guys, would just like to thank you for these two videos as they have saved me wasting time and effort on chasing the starter motor and the ignition switch and enabled me to replace the cig lighter with a push button and relay and some simple wiring to replicate your relay box and get my partners 85 year old mum and dad back on the road again in their micra again.

Guys I want thank you for this video. I used have such problems but solved it .but I now have another of problem of speedometer not working and milage is stuck.
Check control side there could many other faults but thanks for the video now where starter relay is
I was wondering iit makes sense to fit a diode in-live, as a positive signal might have some unknown effect on the relaty? If it is only the ignition switch faulty, can I splice the button wire to tthe white wire at the fusebox thingy? Thanks! PS I have an Automatic.

Hey guys, thanks for an excellent video, much appreciated. Two questions, you mention a temperature sensor with regard to the intermitency based on heat. Where is this? and can I check it with a multimeter or just replace (if cheap!) before digging out the headlamp etc. Qu 2 Can I just bypass the relay and direct wire the white input to the red output? cheers A M
Exact same issue at the moment with my 2005 Micra. The no crank seems to happen when the ambient temperature is too high. I assume that the temp is causing increased resistance through the relay so there is not enough current like you said. Starts perfectly fine in the early mornings or on cold days etc.
Yes, that’s due to the high temperature sensor. Have you had it on the diagnostic computer?

@@zabzproject1416 Not yet, car is at the auto electrician today, problem I'm having is with the fault being intermittent, so even telling them exactly what the problem is they want to see it for themselves. Do you know if replacing the relays would solve this issue (if it isn't the motherboard itself)? I'd like to try fix this without installing a push start, and maybe just telling them to replace the relays would resolve this for me.
@@Edward-oe2yj you can try relays but it could be the temperature sensor that’s in fault, maybe…. As you mentioned the issue only happens when the temperature rises. Get them to check the sensors first and then maybe the relays 👍

Before you start stripping the car down, I recommend to check your rear break light, if the break light isn’t working get it fixed first, this type of problems with starting are common on the k12 Micra.

I had the same problem and mine turned out to be the ignition switch. I just replaced with a push button but could have bought new switch contacts off ebay.

I have same issue with my customer car but also you may have issues with Your immobilizer and that’s why you not gonna crank the engine because the key is not recognizing by the ignition antena
I have a Remote Starter Switch
Can I use that instead of the probe to test? Connect one wire from the switch to the positive on the battery and one to the wire you had spliced in the video?

Hi I wouldn’t recommend it, if that’s the only way you have just be extremely careful as the probe will give a temp 12v power and can instantly switch off by realising the button, where as the starter switch might have a slight different play depending on what switch you have 👍
@@zabzproject1416 Thanks for answering! It's a simple switch similar to Sealey VS 205, I would have posted a link but seems like I can't do that. But when you push the switch it closes the circuit and when you let go it cut the power.
It's an intermittent problem, so I thought I'll splice the wire and pull it out of the box and when the car won't start I can connect the switch easily and start. That way I can use the car until I have found the problem. Is it too risky to do it that way or what do you think?

@@zabzproject1416 I connected it all today, I only tried starting once but seems to work fine. I connected a wire from the red one you show in the video and pulled it out through a small hole in the bottom of the box. Then I tested it with the starter switch, put some electrical tape around the wire and put it away under the hood until I will need it.
I didn't put a fuse on the positivwe wire, but what amp fuse should I put?
I have the same issue today but do you think it could be to do with the fact that I have no fuel in the car at all therefore it isn't starting?
Hi if your fuel gauge is working and is showing no fuel then yes, put some fuel in it first (turn the ignition on and off few times for the fuel to get to the front and then start it)
So... did you get to fix it? Noting your MOT is expired now and I have sort of the same problem with the same aged micra.
Yes it was fixed and then given to a family friend, which he used it for a while as a gap car, later he got rid of the car due to the age 👍
Hi. Have a problem trying to start a k12 micra keyless go after changing the car battery. The car cranks but won't fire up. Also most of the dash lights are always on even when the car is switched off. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thought it might have been an immobiliser issue but the light for that does go out when trying to start it.

There is a reset procedure for cars with keyless.
Close all doors ,boot and bonnet.Lock car with remote and then unlock car ,and place key in ignition,turn on ignition for 5 mins but do not try to start the engine at this stage.Turn off ignition ,then turn back on and try and start
Might have to try the procedure twice if it doesn’t work first time
@zabz project hi, thanks for the reply. I finally managed to get the car to start today. I needed to switch on the heated seat before cranking which is a bit nuts really. And I have to keep the switch on in order to turn off the car off as well otherwise it stays on. Any ideas on what the main problem could be? Is the BCM on its way out?

Hi this sounds like a starter motor issue, best way to check is with a probe to starter motor and see if the starter motor engages 👍
Hey man i got the exact same problem, same buzzing sound and when bypassing the relay it starts, but mine has a anti theft immobiliser indicator on dash, is it maybe due to the whole fuse box?
Hi if the immobiliser light does not go off it could be of many issues such as:
Bad earthing (pls check your earth terminal to battery connection)
Ecu in fault
Key not communicating to car (hence the immobiliser not deactivating..
When you bypass the relay does the car start or do you just hear it crank?
Also have you by any chance had the diagnostic computer put on the car and what codes has it come up with?

@@eazilyunreal2701 yes you would need to get it programmed, if it starts by bypassing the relay have you tried changing the relay before you go ahead and change the fuse box?
@@zabzproject1416 I have tried switching the relay with another such as the horn, no luck. I think the previous owner has replaced the entire box hence the flashing key
@@eazilyunreal2701 yes that could be the reason, have you managed to check the earthing as this could also cause the problem (maybe the previous owner has left or hasn’t earthed one of the cables properly).
I have same problem with my Micra 2004 K12.
No sound when trying to start, checked fuses, etc, no luck
My micra acenta 2004 1.2 car battery is down, I am charging it with a small charger, so far 5 hours and nothing. Probably needs more time.
No electricity in the car at all. I got in with the mecanical key as the intelligent key wasn't working, but then when placed in to initiat ignition it won't work the key doesn't turn and the immobiliser won't unblock the steering wheel 😩
I even tried the spare key which is new and oiled it, but cannot turn it to unblock the wheel.
Any advice would be so much appreciated.
Hi,
You Might need to move steering wheel left to right even though it will be locked while turning the key in the ignition barrel, you can also try to spray some wd40 in the key barrel by inserting the spray straw in where the key normally goes and then insert the key and turn the key whilst turning the steering left or right..
If no success sounds like your ignition barrel could be gone and maybe needs replacing..
I jump started my car few times them it wouldn’t start I’m morning when cold so had to jump start then once I had it started for 15 mins I put heaters to clear screen on full it went buff switched itself off can’t get it on since there’s a battery light on dash red box with plus minus changes battery still no luck. Can you point me in the right direction please?
Hi that sounds like your alternator that needs changing as it’s possibly not charging your battery 👍
Have a look at fuses/relay for the alternator first before changing the actual alternator

Is it necessary to program the key when this is newly installed?
@@ashanudagedara-od4oj hi no as it was not an ecu issue, if you install the push start there’s no need to reprogram your key as the immobiliser was deactivated via key connection 👍
Unless you’re having a communication problem where the immobiliser is not reading the key then you will have to look more into this and possibly will need to reprogram the key etc..

Hello, as I haven’t got access to 2012 Nissan Qashqai keyless model I won’t be able to go into detail but the basic things to check would be start motor itself and possibly relay other then those two maybe check to see the earthing is good as these could also be a common fault.

You have apparently immobilizer issue like plenty of quashai. You need to call locksmith to plug in diagnostics and see if the key can be recognized
I think I might have a problem with the relay or the starter. I have Nissan Micra 2004. When it was very cold it didn't start, not even cranked the engine. So I thought it was the battery which was rather old. The strange things was that it didn't even cranked the engine with some help from another car battery with the engine running on that car. Not even a change in the engine speed of the other car. As if it didn't have contact. After checking contact with no results, I gave up.
I warmed up the engine with a electrical cable. Then it started right away. I had a repair shop checking the battery and charging. As I thought, the battery was bad, so I changed that. The charging etc was okej though.
Next day, still cold outside, it started, but on first on the third heavy crank. It didn't seem right. The car repair shop agreed with me, but only had time to check the obvious things and didnät find anything. They just suggested that something else put to much load on the electrical system while starting the engine.
Now we had a few degrees above zero, but when starting the car today it still paused before cranking heavy and slow before starting. Or almost not starting. Could it still be the two relays or even the starter engine itself?
Hi that sounds like a bad starter motor, as your telling me it cranks but starts of slowly then builds up, this would indicate a bad starter.
If you have no crank upon multiple try’s and then you suddenly get a crank, that would indicate to a bad connection to starter motor.

Are they difficult to change for a non professional but rather handy. I have tools but not a garage, though. I'm from Sweden btw.
@@Martin-we1kh you can always try the relay first as that’s cheaper, you can get a decent used starter motor if you don’t want new one.
I’m only suggesting the starter motor as it sounds like your one maybe be on its way out as per the description but I always like to start from the the relays otherwise. 👍
Before changing or buying another starter motor you can try to do a direct!connection to the starter motor via a probe to see how it cranks, if the starter seems to crank at its full power then look at replacing the relays.

@@zabzproject1416 Hi there thanks for getting back to me, I am in the process of buying the car off a neighbour as it seemed a shame as he was going to scrap it, so decided to try and rescue it, A mechanic mate is going to plug it in to see what code comes up and mate has a 'donor' Almera we are going to try the coolant sensor off it.

hi, I have a similar problem, but I have a big light on the Dashboard saying KEY, first it was flashing green, it went to red for a while now it has gone back to green, is this to do with the immobiliser?
Hi Kieron,
Normally green key flashing light means your key battery is low or totally dead.
And to be honest I would try changing battery first as it is a cheaper option, also once you do change the battery in your key you will need to resynchronise the key with the car which should be in your Nissan manual book

Hi, i have a somewhat similar problem with my micra. I washed my car and then about 8 hours after the wash the car won't start. This has happened 3 times and everytime I have to jump start it. The battery isn't flat as the lights are fully bright, windows open and close, and dash lights are on, but it just won't startup after a body wash, (didn't wash engine). Could it be that water is leaking into the starter box when hosing down?
Hi it could possibly be your starter motor, however it could also be a bad connection. I would try to clean all the connections first and see if that helps

My Nissan Micra CVT had same issue. First it used to crank after few attempts, then after many attempts, after 2 days it took 5 to 10 minutes with repeated attempts. Also now engine didn't stop after attempting pushing stop button. Any guidance on this?
Hi on top of my head I can only think of few issue’s such as:
Ignition module / keyless start faulty
Fuel pump relay
Or
Start Stop Button faulty
Even saying this I would strongly advice to get the car on a diagnostic computer to see for error codes as this would eliminate a lot and narrow down to pacific fault find. 👍
@@zabzproject1416 nissan service center team rectified the issue. They told some wring ghat passing through left front door to control box got damaged and was rectified.

I had to put a 25 fuse in the o2 sensor cause the 10 fuse always blow

What if the car is dead absolutely nothing on dash is this the same process? I thought it was a battery problem (without testing it) and I changed the battery but still completely dead
No, this process is only if you have lights on the dash but aren’t getting any crank I.e. starter motor is not turning (obviously first point of troubleshooting would be starter motor - which we show the red wire on the motherboard that’s under the driver side headlight, goes direct to the starter motor hence the push start).
If you could share what could you are getting on the diagnostic computer maybe I can get a better idea what issue you might be having with your car.. alternatively have a look at some relays/ fuses that might be blown.

Hi Abdulbaqi, You can if only you use a wire with a fusible link (I.e. wire with a fuse in the middle), even tho saying that I would recommend a probe which is only around £20 and would make your life so much easier.

Hi, before you attempt to start the car you will need to do the following:
Drain engine oil & refill
Drain coolant & refill
Remove all the spark plugs & HT leads & replace them.
Dry all of the loom/wiring connections/plugs including the battery terminals..
Once’s that’s all done then try to crank the car...

Hi ! You seem to know a lot on these kind of problems.
Mine has issue starting in cold weather. It's not completely dead like in this video. It starts but engine won't turn on. Some times the starter motor chokes on me, makes a hissing sound. It's always likes it about to start but doesn't quite get there. After maby an hour of starting and nothing happens, I leave and come back in an hour or more than it starts on the first turn ! I am really lost here ! 😂
After I manage to get it running and hot, its no issue to start it again, unless if I leave it for few hours and the engine gets cold. Than it's the same problem agin. I put anty freeze in the gas. New spark plug and air filter. And I can here the fuel pump turning on and of when I am turning the key. Battery seems fine.

I have used jump start probe but my k12 will crank over but won't fire up and now cooling fan won't turn off
Hi you will have to check for blown fuse / relay.. sometimes when you try to jump start a car some of the fuses will blow, so will need replacing. 👍

I have the same car and have a similar problem except my engine tries to start when I turn the key and the battery seems fine I can work the radio and the electric windows,and I have to jump start the car all the time even after 1 hour of the car running when. Turn the car off again it won't start unless the jump leads are connected..but then I found that one day I just put the jump leads on amd never started the car that was jumping me and was still able to start my car so I'm very confused I don't know what the problem can be ..do anyone know what my problem might be
Hi, have you put it on diagnostic computer & has it given any codes?
Your alternator maybe weak so it’s not charging your battery or try to clean your terminals that connect to your battery as they could be dirty or corroded.
Sounds more of a connection problem to me 👍

@@zabzproject1416 I went to jump the car today and I connected the leads up to the 2 cars and before I started the car that was jumping me I jist tried my car and it starts when the leads are connected don't even have to start the other car so do you think that this is just a case of the battery be dirty
@@gavin9873 yes, sounds like a bad connection from terminal to battery.
Remove the terminals and give them a good clean with a wire brush and see if that helps

Hi, yes this could cause the non crank..
Once replaced pls make sure terminals are cleaned and connected properly including the negative as this would also cause an issue.

I just don’t know if it’s the relay or the motherboard cause everything seems to be working perfectly
