thank you SO much for this informative and thorough video! It's super inspirational as I start to think about an in-depth Thoth journey! (did you back the re-issue of the Thoth Journey?) I got a gorgeous Box C Greenie for a great price a few months ago and it got me really amped up for a Thoth deep dive (then went and bought the mini-Thoth with the 3 Magi by Mueller (Belgian printing) so bow I'm in deep! Got the Snuffin book after watching your group live chat and it's not gonna work for me! I am thinking of getting the Katz books so thanks SO much for your thorough treatment of them! I love your videos and really enjoy your cute and gentle vibe! I love "wandering by" your channel!

I bought both the deck and the Book of Thoth a few years ago, but never managed to sink in. I'm resoluted to do it, but I think I'm only able to afford one of those books for the time being.
I feel a little bit inclined to "Tarot Deciphered" , since it isn't speciallized on Thoth but in like the symbolism and principles (?) of the tarot itself, but really can't decide.
What would be your recommendation? They all seem so useful.

It’s hard to say because I used all these various resources to help me learn Thoth. I also recommend Fortune’s Wheelhouse podcast. I ought to make an updated video about my Thoth resources. Currently my favorite of those books is the Tarot Handbook by Angeles Arrien.

  • @weststartarot-Liz

This is so helpful! I made a commitment to dive into the Thoth a couple of years ago and got a deck, a journal, some books on Thoth. I did great for a while, but then I just couldn’t figure out how to keep it going. Love your idea of keeping a planner as opposed to a journal great idea! I basically used a similar method to this when I learned RWS, but that artwork and system spoke more clearly to me than Thoth does. Thank you so much for sharing your study system. The bottom line is it takes time to learn these complex, deep, symbolic systems. It doesn’t happen overnight!
So far my favorite Thoth book has been the Angeles Arrien book most likely because I’m a feminist and imo Crowley was a misogynist which is the main reason I resisted studying this system.. I love having this female perspective of the Thoth. I found a really well priced greenie in great shape on eBay, too!!! So exciting!!!
This is such a long comment, but I just kept adding to it as your video progressed!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ You’ve inspired me to give it another go!

So you posted this video over a year ago and totally not counting on you ever seeing what I have to say. But I must say that the Crowley / Golden Dawn paradigm are drastically different means of interpreting the thoth. It gets back into the entire nature of the kabbalah. One cannot project and truly be a practitioner of this art. One must be receptive. And the Crowley/golden dawn method is all about projection, not being receptive.

    • @MarleneTheresa
      @MarleneTheresa  8 місяців тому

Interesting. I’ve not really studied the “method,” just the imagery, symbolism, and archetypes on the cards. I’ve only scratched the surface of my understanding of the kaballah and just in relation to the tree of life in the tarot. I don’t subscribe to any one philosophy. I don’t remember if I said anything about projection or receptivity in this video! lol. Thanks for stopping by to comment.

    THOTH 101 /
    THE BASICS :
First you have to really understand basic Astrology (as the Deck is based on it).
Second - reflect upon the symbolism/ geometry.
He moved away from people to lines & shapes to reflect energetics.
Colour is also more emphasised in his Deck.
It's a mirror to the soul like no other ....
Once mastered ; it is visual; visionary and fascinating how it works with such terrible accuracy .
THINGS TO LOOK FOR : Images of
    Alchemy
    Saturn
    Mercury
    Venus
    Mars
    Numerology
The original text is outdated and use more current text s.
He combined Astrology with numbers and images to reflect the whole unconscious mind .

@@belphegor_dev it's not Crowley I am concerned with it the Egyptians but okay I'll give you that no one can agree with what the proper way to pronounce it is but it damn sure isn't "tha-oth". Plus she says it over and over regardless of the pronunciation repeating any word 1000 times a minute is dreadfully annoying, I was trying to be nice ish 'nd spare the lady's feelings but there it is.
