It does wobble quite a bit. Just installed mine 2 days ago. All i have mounted on is my iphone 12 and on a flat highway / road it is quite wobbly. Very disappointing.
I have had mine for a few months now. Two of the brass inserts have stripped out from the plastic. Also, the devices wobble quite a bit. Lastly, because of the wobble, it squeaks like crazy.
I'm glad I saw this comment before shelling out the cash to get one. I have a iphone 14 Pro Max so it's heavy and I wouldn't want it falling off on a rough road.
It should be thin, but it should not be flexible... I wouldn't want to mount a laptop on it, but for most handheld devices it is perfect for our needs. Have you reached out to Lab Ops Gear about the problems you are having?
I have one of the first 3d printed versions and I found this to be the case as well. The product itself is rigid enough. The problem is that the mount points allow for a fair amount of flex. When on dirt roads, anything I have mounted bounces around a lot.
I installed this recently. Your fitment and installation instructions are excellent. I do, however, have a couple of concerns. While attaching one of the ball mounts, the brass insert in the platform stripped out of the plastic. I now cannot use that location as I cannot tighten the ball mount. Further, I question the strength and rigidity of the platform itself. It flexes quite a bit with anything mounted to it. For major off-road driving on rough roads, I imagine a failure is imminent.
Just installed this and it is quite flimsy. I am using an aftermarket HU with an aftermarket bezel so not sure if that is the reason. I will be buying a RAM mount wireless charger phone mount and seeing how well this works.
Okay. It doesn't look like there is a significant difference in the process of doing this on a 2021/2022. The head unit is different, but instructions appear to be the same. I have seen a few people on Instagram sporting the new design on their 21/22 4Runners, but I would contact Lab Ops Gear directly if you have questions about it.
labopsgear.com/products/low-profile-composite-double-socket I believe this is the correct one, but I will check with Lab Ops Gear to see if that is right.
I would reach out to Lab Ops Gear to find out on that. Email: info@labopsgear.com I have a friend with a 2012 (same dash as the 2013). I'll see if she can lend me her 4Runner for an evening to check it out.
So, I spoke with Lab Ops Gear about the earlier 5th Gen 4Runners. While it will work for the 2010-2014 4Runners, there are some slight differences that require modifications. Apparently there are some parts of the Clock/Display that protrude into the area the USB outlets would be. Lab Ops Gear is looking into possible solutions to keep their customers from needing to do any irreversible modifications. Stay Tuned!
Sorry, you lost me when using those type of connecters to cut into the wire. Your better off cutting the wire and putting two wires in one side of a butt connector
I bought this thinking awesome, no drilling. Installed it, it's so thin, everything and anything I put on it shakes like my ex-wife's vibrator. Total waste of money.
I don’t know who you are. I’m shopping for a tablet mount for my 4 runner. And, you didn’t install anything…..you put a plate on your dash. Execution, gentlemen. Good luck.
Great and funny video. I’ve been wanting to get this set up. I will now since Lab Ops changed their set up and now you can keep your clock.
This is exactly what i've been waiting for! NICE!
Great item for my 22 Toyota 4Runner and very easy to install. Thanks for the video. It really helped.
Does not look like you can actually fit a USB-A in the back. Why isnt an fast charge USB-C an option available for the back?
Would love to see a test of how stable this is on bumpy roads. I've read/heard that it wobbles quite a bit with just a phone attached.

Very Neat! Thanks
Pretty dang neat!
I just installed one myself. Its very thin and flexible so use caution with what you mount.
Aww man really!? I was all excited about it.......

@@TrailorSailYT Yes I have. Its not sturdy at all and all I have on it is an iphone 13.

Seems very straight forward… but I don’t know if I’d do that… I would take perhaps a couple hours doing it

Will this thing hold up to off road abuse?
Does Carplay work if you're connected from the USB on the dash or just power only?
Is there a a big difference in the install for a newer 4Runner(2021) or a different video?
I haven’t seen the interior of the newer 4Runners yet. I’ll ask around.

@@TrailorSailYT thank you for following up.
I've a 2020 and the wire color is different taping into the cigarette lighter red wire and a white with a black stripe.
Which RAM mount arm is pictured on the left most mount in the beginning of the video? Medium length, b size?

I did confirm that link is the correct one.
this didn’t answer my search for dash mount. Okay it’s got usb for top but where the actual mount idea?
Will this fit a 2013?
I would reach out to Lab Ops Gear to find out on that. Email: info@labopsgear.com

Have you found something else sturdier? Don’t want to spend $100+ for something I will regret.

Genius use of space! Lab ops gear for the win!! @Pnw_Lunicorn
Does it have a mount for a radio ? Really not a fan of the plastic
