Just got mine yesterday and installed thia morning, so far so good. Tried to use a drill which was an option as per the included instructions, the bit just kept slipping so I did it exactly how it was installed in the video with tape as a marker and a right angle bit driver use 1/4 inch nut driver and worked out well. Thanks for sharing this video, was exactly what I was looking for now if only matt can make a low profile set of drawers which don’t cost over $1000 like the other companies I’ve seen so far.

Definitely on the expensive side, however that being said its one of those mods to a 5th Gen 4R that should have been stock and this guy went through a lot of prototyping to make this product available to the community. So, if you can spare the coin for this mod its a must have indeed! I'm impressed! 👍
To answer your question, "Are you done modding your 4Runner?" Let me check my wallet... Not this month. Although, I just ordered those covers... :)) Those are great mods! I really like what he did, especially relocating the dongle socket. Those covers are awesome. I don't tow as much as I do make those dangerous Costco runs. Because I have Bilstein 6112s in the front (at the lowest setting) my rear ended up being a bit too low, so I added 25 mm spacers in the back. That way, I avoid pissing off on-coming traffic at night when loaded up. Unloaded, the vehicle has a nice, subtle rake. I did think of adding air bags, but it didn't make sense for my application. Thanks for showing us this, Paul! Say, are you going to install a lift kit on that "little yellow car?"

Thats a NICE easy mod. It's completes the back, makes it look neater. I have already installed the canvasback brand side covers to protect the plastic wheelwells and sides when carrying wood or gear. First time I put wood in back I discovered it scratched easy and ordered them. If you dont run the canvasback's this mod cover of yours is the way to go for sure to keep all the misc junk in the cubby hidden. Love it.

The color is a little off not quite as dark. I was wondering if I tried spraying with blk spray if it might look better. Ours I think needs adjusting, it doesn’t come off that easily.
For the little cover I used 5lb double sided tape and a plastic hook you can buy in packs of 6 to make a handle. Works awesome and now I can access the bottom of the panel without having to remove the upper section.
I made one of those about a year ago. It took some time but i really like it. Cost me about $30 for a small sheet of ABS plastic and a tube of ABS glue to glue on the "hooks" on the bottom. It did take some time to get the shape right.
I saw the speaker and said “Storage compartment? What storage compartment? That’s what Molle panels and plastic bins are for. I want subwoofers, now.” 😂. Nice covers, though. It’s a problem solver.
I like the cover, quality is good, and I finally got it installed. Since no written directions were included and no invoice. I had to research UA-cam to find the installation instructions. The invoice should include how to locate this UA-cam instruction. Besides all that, good product.
I ended up using a flexible extension bit to get my drill up into the tight area to drill the screws in and that made it take about 30 seconds. VS the way the inventor is doing in the video.
Use note: love my covers, but after a while one of the tabs separated from the large one. I recommend drilling a small hole 8/32" is the size I did, and install a screw and nut as secondary attachment for the tabs.
I must say that after the first viewing of the Cargo Storage Cover I couldn't stop thinking about how cool/necessary this mod would be at some point. Should have been a factory option. A day later, viewed the video again and I've now ordered one. Hope it's here soon enough to install before I take my next cross country trip in October.
@@VikingsGarage Received and installed with the following caveat ... The strike plate is very difficult to locate. The accompanying template gives the centerline, but not the front to back offset. I am not using the release at the moment because the friction fit of the large panel seem to be adequate. Looks great, though!
Played with the strike a little bit and determined that the vertical down leg needs to be toward the interior of the storage area. Still a bit difficult to screw in, but doable (probably because I'm 74 and not as flexible as I once was). Now everything is how it needs to be. Should definitely be an OEM item from Toyota.

Ok… there’s probably a cheaper way to do this but I completed this mod after I saw it. I bought the taco shift knob from the stealership because I assumed the many cheaper options on eBay are fake. I then bought a used shift boot assembly for a tacoma part number 35978-04010. This is the only way I found to get the clip that clips into the shift knob. Then I got a boot off of Amazon and cut the hole open a bit more to fit around the clip and used a zip tie to attach it to the clip. It looks amazing and functions great. Good luck
I took my side pocket out and have a custom 10 inch sub woofer box inside, and both my shift knobs for transmission and transfer case r custom wood handles made by a guy on Etsy

This is such a great mod - can't wait to purchase one! Just a quick note - love the channel, but sometimes the filming is so wobbly and moves so fast - I literally get motion sickness. I would watch all your videos but often can't make it through them because my stomach can't handle it 😂🤢.

I have an aftermarket cargo net to cover this and store my gear. It just installed with hook n loop tape that has started to come un-glued.
