I started playing basketball at the young age of 38 (3 years ago) and have become absolutely absorbed by it. I love working on my game as much as I can however I can rarely sustain even a few weeks of playing without new injuries (minor and major) popping up. My availability is quite poor and I hate it because what I'm missing most to improve is actual game experience. It's dispiriting sometimes and people around me say I'm too old to play basketball and should stop it but I just can't leave this beautiful game only a short while after discovering it. There is still so much more to learn. I'll try to work on some of these tips and hope I can continue playing for a long time. By the way I think your channel is with the best of the best for basketball content, it's very much appreciated.

    These were very helpful 👍
Some other things I myself have done are..
    1. Avoid contact (if you can). Floaters and layups from outside the lane.
    2. If you can't avoid contact, when and how you take it matters. Try to take the contact in a strong position on the ground, instead of mid air (wide base, low center of mass). Step backs, jump stops and two foot finishes.
    3. Fall when needed. A few cuts and bruises are better than an ACL tear.

Mann Cole, love everything abt this. As one of the older guys that comes through, can definitely say that as more stuff piles up and competes for my time and attention, load management and lifestyle choices are the primary things keeping me in the mix.

Im a grappler, Judoka, BJJ, and wrestling, yet I try to research as much as I can on injury prevention and exercise from different styles and sports because injuries come from every angle and direction.
Also insight from other athletics can always help
    Thanks for you information! 🙏🏼

In my 30s now, so I don't really go all out when playing random pick up games. Medical insurance in the US is too crappy for frequent injuries lol. I always do dynamic warm ups and lift weights for strength and practice footwork when performing moves. Just trying to limit non-contact injuries since you can't account for every variable.

The topic is crazy from having couples difficult injurees to today (I still have ankle pain), I can really feel the importance of being healthy before everything, to minimize the risks and optimize yourself.

You have any advice on improving IQ? Just started playing organized ball and I’m trying to grasp the concept of spacing and where and when I need to be places. Also defensive IQ for unathletic players😊

“He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:3-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬
This was written around 700 years before Jesus came into the earth, yet it describes His life perfectly.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
God loves you so much and showed that by sending His Son to die for us so that we may inherit eternal life. We deserve hell but He gave us heaven through faith in Jesus. He took the punishment we deserved and by putting our faith in Him we can be saved. The Key To Eternal Life:
