I lived in Thailand for 10 years for my work. Your rendition of this Northern Thailand recipe is great and understand that some speciality Thai ingredients will most likely not be widely available . Made some this afternoon. Five stars for you!
I made your meat stock recipe yesterday and used it to make this soup today. Everything came out delicious! Thank you for making these videos. I recently got diagnosed w/CIDP. My neurologist also recommended the things you talked about. The recipes were clear and easy to follow with accurate measurements. Much appreciated during this stressful time…Thanks again!
Stumbling across your videos at 1am. You are a very charming lady, your cooking looks great, you are very respectful, relatable and present it all in a straight forward but entertaining way! Just subbed.
I’m really enjoying all you have to share about anti inflammatory foods. How do you know what is or isn’t ok to eat? I’m struggling with getting started, beyond my morning smoothie and adding a few things in here and there.
It's tricky to know what to trust, so I started with people who have done it themselves. Like Shawn Stevenson who runs The Model Health Show who rehabilitated his back with nutrition, the NTP who helped me originally who overcame Hashimotos with food, and doctors like Mark Hyman and to an extent Dr Terry Wahl's who reversed her MS with food. I look for people who aren't pushing pills or quick fixes, and who have lived it. I also look for a general message of balance and true researched facts. I love the Weston A. Price society for data, and any book by Sally Fallon. Google will never be the right source for help.
This looks absolutely phenomenal!!! I found out that my bell had been turned off (I'm not sure if that was something I accidentally did or something YT accidentally did), so I haven't been getting your recent notifs. I only saw this video through my home page. That's been remedied. My husband LOVES Thai flavors, so this will be such a treat for him!
This looks great, I love Asian food! Going to make it this weekend but will use 3-4 chicken thighs instead. Are either Tamari or Soy Sauce good substitutes for fish sauce? (oh and I subscribed). By the way, who whispered "It's a good soup" at 7:41? lol
Tamari is gluten free soy sauce so if I had to pick that would be my first choice since it's gluten free but neither will give you the depth of flavor you'd get from the fish sauce. It's not the end of the world though. And I don't remember who said that...probably me because my camera crew who used to help me were always very quiet.
Are the rice noodles considered a grain? Are grains not inflammatory? Or do you just typically stay away from them because of the high carb count? I’m determined to learn as much as I can to treat my hashimotos- your videos are a great resource- but I still find my head swimming with questions! Thanks for your dedication to educating those of us so interested in your lifestyle!
Yes you're right! Rice is a grain and I leave them out when I make a batch for myself. I mentioned that in the description area but no one ever looks in there 😂. I stay away from grains right now because they are inflammatory AND they are more carbs than a healing body needs. In time, as I heal I will be able to incorporate soaked/sprouted grains (prepackaged rice noodles are not ever soaked, so those will always be a no for me). I just need more healing time before any rice or grains can return to my diet. You could do zucchini noodles here or just add more vegetables. You don't miss them. :)
This is actually not Khao soi.. she's more making a namya curry soup or something like that maybe mee Kateet becauseshe put the rice stick noodles in. The broth for Khao soi is supposed to be tomato flavored. Not a bad for a Kentucky gal. Next time pickle your bok choy and see where that takes your taste buds(substitute for pickles mustard greens if you can't find it in your area and you need shallots or red onion if you can't find shallots.
😂 full admittance that I have zero knowledge of authentic Thai food. This recipe was given to me with that name so we kept it. I did some research though before filming and apparently there is a coconut milk based version somewhere in the world. It appears to be a big mish mash of what culture adapted it.
@@FeastandFarmCooks there are. I also understand you where doing it the quick way which is alright also the I'm not sure if you can find egg noodles where you are but yes they have way better flavor. I'm sure it tasted marvelously. Sorry I don't actually know much about your channel and may have been too harsh on you being that it was a childhood meal 😅 but will start tuning in more since you did use fish sauce. Lol 🤎💛🤎💛
@@jimmysisavangone118 we don't have much in the way of international food in the middle of cow pastures in rural Kentucky. There's an Asian market over an hour from here I've heard about but never been to and I wouldn't know what to buy even if I did. It's not the culture here so the food isn't available. And I didn't think you were being harsh--I get a lot meaner comments than yours. And I did throw a big apology/disclaimer on this before I mutilated it. ;) I'd feel the same way if I watched someone make grits, cornbread or an apple stack cake which are foods I was raised on and feel like I know how to make properly. Thanks for not calling me an idiot! LOL!!!
You really need to use a serving spoon instead of a teaspoon, scratch’s your pans and it doesn’t stir or mix well, very frustrating, I can’t watch this video…..
Well, the pot is cast iron and doesn't scratch, and I was just using the teaspoon to get the red curry paste out of the tiny bottle it was in. Hopefully you'll find a channel that meets your standards.
Great video! Would love to see more anti-inflammatory recipes.
Yes more to come!

@@FeastandFarmCooks I have read a book by Sally Fallon, Nourishing Traditions. I got to the recipes and stopped reading. But very good!!!
Yum! I wanted to hold a bowl to my computer screen and have you ladle some soup into it:->

Onions and asparagus too
Those would both work!

I would not use much avocado oil. It should not be heated so high! Use coconut or a saturated fat, or at least a tiny amount of avocado oil.
Avocado can go to 520 before we hit the smoke point.
