Chronically ill and incurable: Food as medicine changed it all.

  • In 2019 my life changed. As a nurse I thought I knew everything there was about health. But when I was stricken with a paralyzing autoimmune disease and left to "wing it" by doctors who didn't know how to treat me, I fell further and further into my illness. Even to a wheelchair where I existed for more than 8 months.
But I got serious about my health and changed everything I knew. I blew off the doctors who spoke death over my life and turned to food to treat the chronic disease no one else could.
And I believe you can do it too. No matter what you or someone you love has, I believe diseases can less, heal and even go in to total remission when your body is nourished and cared for.
I'm Rachel Ballard, a reformed southern cook who still loves the taste of good food and today I'm committed to helping you celebrate food as it is--not what we force it to be when we're on a diet so that you can live better, love more and do what brings you joy.
More changes will be coming to the channel starting Spring 2022.

Rachel, I came to your channel to view the best beginner bread video of March 26, 2020. I got stuck watching many of your other videos. Here's the bottom line, I am diagnosed by biopsies, Nerve conduction, and many other tests, to have Progressive Muscular Atrophy. PMA. Your almost exact medical story is my story as well. The most difficult part of this journey has been the feeling of abandonment by medicine and family at times. No one could have such a wide assortment of entire body ailments, right? When I lost my sight in one eye, an alert Nurse Practitioner properly diagnosed GCA involvement, and the road to at least living relatively pain-free began. Exposure in Vietnam to Agent Orange AKA Roundup has been the cause of this, From my own helpless state to the point today, where I can walk again, do things on my own, has been a journey in itself. I admire all your work and strong spiritual beliefs to make this all possible. Please continue your good work. I feel your pain and thinking personally. Your life means a lot to me. God Bless you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of your health struggles. I do certainly sympathize. Totally abandoned over here too. We should start a club. :) And I lost vision in one eye temporarily. Talk about scary! I'm so glad to hear that your health is improving! You keep at it and keep your eye on the goal of doing what brings you joy. Thank you for your kind words, and God bless you as well. --Rachel

@@FeastandFarmCooks Something is missing in Medical School, that of referral to a Rheumatologist. Rh doctors are treated with so little respect. On a pay scale, Rheumatologists don't even rate in the top 20. Yet, a simple referral would have saved people like us much agony and perhaps ability. I found Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements a great help to both quell the spams and possibly repair the damaged nerve pathways. My mental acuity has returned and I can walk small distances similarly to your middle video. WE do belong to a club, it's one where faith healing, mental attitude and ignoring naysayers and misguided well-wishers are part of the club motto. We are joined by the waters of the River Jordan. God bless you and your kin. - Cris

@overlycreative1 i may be one of the misguided well wishers but of course you can just take or leave my suggestion 🙂 Eric Berg, Sten Ekberg and Ken Berry may have videos pertinent to your health issues. Eric Berg especially does a bunch of research into the improvements certain foods and vitamins can give.
I sincerely am sorry for your time in Vietnam. Personally i think it's a travesty so immense and complex, society doesn't know how to heal properly. I really am sorry. May God bless and comfort you

I am SO EXCITED to see this transition. God works in mysterious ways and Rachel, I do believe this is your calling. What you've been through has opened a door to help heal others. And many, will need these anti-inflammatory foods. Prayers for you on this journey! 🙏

Rachel, you have been such a blessing to me! As a "reformed southern cook" as well, I'm excited about the new things coming this spring! About 10 years ago, as I headed into my "empty nester" years, God began preparing me for this chapter of my life by leading me into the health and wellness field. It brings me alot of joy to be leading others to enjoy better health through fitness and healthier eating. Food as medicine does make huge changes! Thank you so much for sharing yourself with us!

I'm so glad I found your channel. I have been terribly sick with RA. That is my diagnosis. I however just watched a different video of your and my symptoms are EXACTLY like yours. I have been on steroids just here recently because I refused to take them before because of the side effects. I recently have found some great Drs. With YT channels talking about curing autoimmune disease with food. A practice I have really got very very strict with everything I consume. Wheelchairs, canes, walkers I have all of them. I can't dress or shower without help or use the restroom. I want so bad to just have the pain stop. Every Dr. Just wants to pump me full of things that have horrible side effects. I'm going to give this all a got with nutrition as my relief. I feel abandoned by medical help and my body is just so tired. God willing I will regain this body back and walk again and just be able to live without the assistance of my family all the time. Please pray for me and thank you for sharing your story. God bless you,! ❤️

Oh I will pray for you and I believe in you! Start with the meat stock recipe--that was SO powerful for me (the recipe is here on the channel) and I still drink it even today. Cut out all grains. Also huge for me. You absolutely have options beyond the pills. Go for it with all the strength you have and you'll be so glad you did. I remember the first day I realized my feet weren't burning (neuropathy). I cried! Of course the next day it was back but not as bad and over time it faded until it was gone.

Stay away from 💉(both yearly flu and m-RNA new technology). Studies for m-RNA 💉injections are not even complete.
So many people are having various issues after listening to mandates.
