Probably one of the greatest scenes I've ever seen in an anime. Two kids going up against an unknown evil, completely afraid but willing to go through with it to save the planet, by becoming the very monsters they aim to fight. I know thats not the TRUE reason why it happens but ignoring later parts of the manga, Akira and Ryo's bravery here is honestly really really good characterisation, its so simple yet speaks volumes
