Good luck with the new shop,I think your best bet is to bring all of your tools to the shop. It gets frustrating fast if you want to do a quick job at home, but more frustrating not having the tool you need at the shop. I used to share a 60x40 garage with my dad, eventually I just brought my tools home and used his.
This is a great move Sarah! The simple solution to tools is a tool bag for home and move the tool box to bigger garage for heavier projects. That means press and all. Tools help pay rent. We've been doing it this way for 3 years.
So lucky the cutting wheel turned to dust. When they explode in chunks they can do serious damage to body parts. You should probably be wearing long pants when grinding. Hope the new workshop works out for you
One bit of advice I can give you about splitting a shop is before anything everyone involved needs to sit down and put everything in writing. Rent , utilities, and anything else you can think of. I had a custom shop I split with a friend who did paint and body and it got ugly between us till we backed up and decided to sit down and go over everything and put it in writing and sign it. Made things much better between us.
Dry ice sublimates to gas normally without going to a liquid phase. You need a fair amount of pressure to get it to go to liquid phase. Figure 5 to 10 atmospheres and about 70 below to get liquid.
Good luck on the new space hope it works, stager your lifts put one a little ahead of the other. you can put your tool box/bench in that space. I would think about putting them one in front of the other, you can put your long term projects on one and still use the other. Put cars where you think you want them and leave them there for a day or two and see how it works out. And put a/c in your home garage!!!!
The vent is to stop the car body floating when it's submerged in the electrocoat paint tank. Then are carried on hangers so they need to sink when they go in nose first on a slope.
Wow, Sarah! This is awesome. Really hope the shop works out. Great you can work with your sister too. If the shop works out it will hopefully be a lot easier to actually socialize and get some professional input on your projects too! Best of luck.
id buy a portable swamp cooler... landlords never give any credit for upgrades in Tucson... i once painted an entire house back to normal from clown house *im a painter so it came out perfect* and the landlord stole my security
Hey Sarah- I really appreciate all the time you put in. Your videos are always thoroughly enjoyable because your personality shines, but also because you do such a great job with editing. It's why I'm a patron. Love from Michigan!
Most lift manufactures will help with your lift placement at no additional charge (if you purchase the lifts) I’ve used challenger lifts for years and have personally set up several shops as well as coached shops owners on layouts. Thank you for your service
The vents in the floor are there for production purposes. The bare metal body is electrocoated by dipping before it gets painted. The vents ensure the body shell quickly sinks into the dip.
In the shop, you could set up a welding table and station, so you have a good place to pratice and open up your fabricating options.and maybe like a tube bender and beld grinder.
Smashing vid! It's becoming a family affair! That Green Monster startup was like, WOAH!! CAN. NOT. WAIT!! Noice. And shop shopping is so perfect! LOL the reverse flow kama sutra mechanical massaging is so on point. Reduce that stress, relax, enjoy! You've certainly earned and deserve it!
Less is definitely better in this situation. Go big or go home... I pray it all comes to fruition for you. I love color of the GT and look forward to that review.
The beauty of 208 3Ph power is it's versatility... there are 3 hot legs and a neutral... any hot leg to neutral is 120V single phase-- the same power in a household outlet... Any 2 hot legs is 240V - the same power for an electric dryer or Stove.. and then the 3 phase power for Industrial equipment and its much more efficient (and cheaper) than 240v single phase... If it were the higher 480V 3 ph- you would need transformers to get the lower power voltages... Enjoy!
Plasma cutter would've made quick work of the bumper, the dry ice method was cool(pun intended), Congrats on the new shop, correct decision to lease, & I am thankful for the Arizona heat every time I watch your channel. 😉
FAMILY TO HELP Go Sarah, getting help, with your little sis!! Your channel is getting bigger , a better shop is what you need, and if you get stuck you got help from guys you trust.
Boiling is evaporting .. the process of turning from liquid to vapor is evaporating. The temperature at which a liquid boils is the evaporating temperature ..
Go plasma but wear proper clothing as well, I have 5 fresh holes in the top of my foot that have finally healed up into 5 deep purple scars. I love the tank-top in the beginning though . . . OUIIIIIII!!! The shop will be great, buy a set of business tools for UA-cam and keep a separate set of tools at the house.
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your work - knowing that you work as much as you do to bring us great content, I just want you to know that what you do really matters. Thank you, Sarah.
some of the appeal of your channel is the intimacy of working from home and your 'against the odds' struggle with the space - all followers can relate to this and to see you master it is satisfying - I certainly dont want to see you working 80 hr weeks and glad that sis will be helping out - great Pengi :) - modest little motor u have there coming up for review....
congrats Sarah on the new digs if you go ahead with the plan, too bad I am not around as I could have used some space for the detailing business I am in the process of setting up time permitting
Finally! Something with a Beans Score higher than 3.14. If there's a Meatball Score for that bad chicken something went terribly wrong during the bolstering test.
Just keep all your good tools at the shop and maybe some detailing stuff that you can do at home. You can only be at one place at the one time, and that way you can now separate your work from your home. I know I did many years back. Unfortunately, I now work back at home and I can't separate the two, and it sucks.
Where I live we use a heatgun and a scraper to get soundeadaning(schpelling?) out of the car. Shows the difference in climate, 96 deegres is unheard of.
It has been great; that possible shop/work space looks great to me, we did a lot with much much less space. Also, it has been nice to know your 'lil sister; i wish you luck with the shop, it gonna be great, i'm sure.
Harbor Freight for a bare bones tool set to keep at home. I have about four sets of combination wrenches just because sometimes you need two and probably three sets of sockets so I don't lose any. They are mostly Craftsman from the 1990s and 2000s when they were still American made i think. Lately it has been Harbor Freight because i think the quality is now on par, the warranty is too and I'm not the type of pro that can justify really expensive tools unless the cheapos suck. Maybe that is excessive but I can always put together a tool kit when i need to work on something anywhere beside my garage. For my more specialized tools, I like to look for used tools if I want something nicer than Harbor Freight.
Perhaps consider including an edit-suite in the new shop, as a good way of separating 'work' from 'home'. Add in some security cameras with motion activated recording and remote notifications - if you go for some decent IP based cameras, you can also record the MP4 stream from those, it's about the same quality as GoPro HD - HikVision or HiLook are what I use to stream drag racing here in Oz.
I was going to add that. It is possible to make CO2 go through a Liquid phase, but you have to mess around with pressures. As a positive, as a liquid, it would probably dissolve the sound deading really well as a liquid.
Hi Sarah loveing the new shop and the space 4 the 2 lifts will make the work you do a lot easier an little siss hopefully you might get a sponsor for your tools so you can have a good tool chest at the new shop I hope it all works out 4 you 🐧🐧👌👌👍👍
Hi Sarah I really enjoy your channel. The new workshop sounds like a great idea. Maybe you could keep your home for car grooming and the workshop for mechanical stuff.
It is sublimating - that is when a solid skips the liquid state and goes straight to a gas. Which begs the question, if you take a bath in dry ice do you get wet?
HI Sarah, I'm glad you are getting some support from your sister. also awsome news on the shop front. Its about time!! I thoroughly enjoy yourcontent and humour and you are a great mechanic!
Good news with that potentially new shop. Also, you should wear something more protective when working with the grinder. And, to make it cutting on steel easier, get some of those really thin cutting discs. I am using some that are only 0.5mm or 0.8mm - like cutting butter with a hot knife.
Very psyched for you that your little sis is going to be helping out! You're that much closer to having a bit of your life, outside of the channel, back! I hope the new shop situation works out. That'll take you to the next level.
I'm so happy that you're getting a larger work space do I always have this kind of hope that you would have been able to buy or lease the abandoned warehouse. An exploding cutting disc could be very dangerous since you have no idea where the hell those pieces are gonna go and you doing those cutting with those shorts on, Bold move.
Sarah, when I was younger my boss showed me the dry ice method but we used dry ice & IPA & it worked wonders. I'm not sure if you've tried it this way before🤷♂️ Coming along great👍🏼 Say hi to your little sis👋🏼
I used the dry ice technique on my cosworth rally car...the only problem was the sound deadening was holding the floor together 1990's uk Fords are so rusty .lol..good luck with the new workshop
you need some wheel dollies , they make life so much easier moving the car around the garage. also it gives you a bit of a lift when working on floorboard and under dash. items only regret I didn't get the wheel adapters. needs a plasma cutter , only downside of that is you start cutting things for S&G's
If you're moving to a new spot, I wish you all the luck in the world. You go girl.
Thumbs up for being considerate to your neighbors. When a solid changes into a gas, it’s called sublimation. I wanna see you thrash that Benz.
Good luck with the new shop,I think your best bet is to bring all of your tools to the shop.
It gets frustrating fast if you want to do a quick job at home, but more frustrating not having the tool you need at the shop.

You are so fun to watch, i look forward to your videos. Your an amazing woman.
Science says the dry ice is sublimating - going straight from solid to gas.
yeah the difference between sublimating and melting is it skips the liquid phase. co2 will only be liquid if pressurized.
Only Sarah would relate air flow in a paint booth to the Kama Sutra 😆 that’s why we love you
or "Carma Sutra".
Heh heh.
I'll leave.
My favorite part was you adding in the crickets 😂 because it went right over their heads
So lucky the cutting wheel turned to dust.
When they explode in chunks they can do serious damage to body parts.
You should probably be wearing long pants when grinding.
Hope the new workshop works out for you
Yes! Long pants and a long sleeve shirt whilst grinding! You don't have to look hot all the time. And not that grinding either!
@@melissavredline1264 lol Long pants are unhelpful for the other type of grinding 🤣

Dry ice sublimates to gas normally without going to a liquid phase. You need a fair amount of pressure to get it to go to liquid phase. Figure 5 to 10 atmospheres and about 70 below to get liquid.
Dry ice also comes in pellets. They're about an inch long and cover evenly allowing you to pull it up in sheets.

Shirt graphic idea:

I wonder how many people, outside of europe, would be confused by such a shirt. I feel like "Give it the beans" isn't a universally known phrase.

Dry ice sublimates. Aka under normal atmospheric conditions it skips the liquid phase, and goes straight from solid to a gas
Hey Sarah, if you crush the dry ice and mix it with acetone or 90+% alcohol, it makes a gel that pops the sound deadening off almost instantly.
