      @@floki1664 Firing up the NSX is somewhat unsettling because it doesn't have a conventional starter. Rather its engine springs to life like many other hybrids, using the big sandwich motor-there's no chin-chin-chin sound first, just the sound of the V-6 lighting off. The engine's note isn't particularly loud or distinct, except that with the exhaust baffles closed, the exhaust air squeezing through the mufflers sounds almost like a cigarette-lighter-powered tire pump. Watching your brain running behind the car trying to catch up was the most genuine reaction I've seen in a car review so far. Sport motorcycles might, (might with a very capable rider,) accelerate that hard off the line but the rider position robs one of the sensation of violence. It's just not the same. I liked your whole review/well spoken/comprehensive/entertaining, but that expression sold it. Very enjoyable.

    The two mystery switches in the glove box.. one allows the door handles to pop open automatically when you walk near it with the key and the other one enables and disables the trunk button in the rear..so peopple can't just walk by and pop your trunk in city traffic

    • @jonathanm9436

      Thanks. But I'm absolutely astonished that they are mechanical switches rather than set in the electronic options. Seems like an after thought.

      @@stephen1r2 They're quicker for sure. I would think though, that a setting would be better that caused your boot/trunk to lock on certain conditions, say when the car moves or some such. To me, these are software settings.

    • @leemiks
      @leemiks 3 роки тому +1

      @@jonathanm9436 Having the mechanical switches in the glove box means you can switch them on and off while the car's ignition is off . I was at a car meet once and the door handle popper kept popping while i walked close..So without starting the car and going into a bunch of menus i just opened my glove box and flipped the switch to off while i was at the meet and flipped it back on afterwards. If you've owned many a car in your life you'll also know that many cars have a mechanical trunk open and trunk lockout located in the glove box. My BMW has one as well.. That is possibly a safety thing incase you can't start your car but can still lock or unlock the trunk in an emergency. BTW, with your logic the car has a manual gas door and frunk popper too would you like to bury that in a electronic menu so you have to turn on your car every time you fill up the gas?

    • @jonathanm9436
      @jonathanm9436 3 роки тому

      @@leemiks Interesting. I see what you mean now. These switches are not something I've ever come across before - and these things are controlled either in settings or on the key fob. Perhaps it's a location thing. Also our petrol cap doors and boot releases are electrically operated. All the best.

    I love that Honda/Acura did a successfully quick hybrid. I have their half hearted budget attempt, the CR-Z, which most barely consider a sports car. The 6 speed is still fun AF, and the electric gives the tiny 1.5L a decent amount of torque. I hope they eventually make something a few steps down from the NSX with decent performance that a normal person can obtain.

Forget about the 1970´s Civic, concentrate on their Formula 1 technology or in MotoGP and you quickly come to the conclusion that Honda is superior even to Porsche. That´s a fact. Sure, Porsche, has more cache but Honda has it where it counts. Remember, the NSX came out when Ferrari engines and cars were crap. It was the NSX that gave Ferrari a wake up call in the 1990´s. Ah , the coveted 5 penguin 🐧 score! Honda/Acura has always been one of my favorite manufacturers. This was a fantastic vehicle to review, with it options. I love the color, the wheels, and the overall style. Acura did a great job with this design. It was fun to see Mr Penguin when you opened the door, and his tumble under braking. Have to say, as a Type R owner, those controls look really familiar.
    An impressive vehicle overall, but as a lifetime save-the-manuals member, the lack of a manual option keeps it off my wish list.
