Somehow Winter Invitational didn't make me as interested in competitive DbD as this showcase did - I watched it live and Ultra's unknown in Greenville was just so impressive to me...
I think this killer design-wise is just phenomenal. I like the creepy, twisted and contorted body of the Unknown and how it really feels like it is a being that shouldn't exist. Its power, although being somewhat strong and fun it really doesn't fit the killer thematically in my opinion. I am still excited to see it in live servers though

feels like his numbers need to be tweaked a bit. bit more cd on his shot, bit more cd on his teleport/more slowdown after teleporting or a channel/noise to warn you sooner its going to happen (maybe with fake potential like freddy?), less time to get rid of weakness. if some of those numbers get tweak he will be fine I guess. but soloQ is gonna struggle...
Kinda sad nobody did any bait builds That shit was so damn fun in PTB and surprisingly strong even against stacked teams. Also they should use the animation to bait more, like with pyramid or demo. This killer also pairs well with the crow perk on open maps. If you know crow spots you can leave hallucinations near them and when survivors go to dispel it will alert the crow and you can teleport in.
I think the description of the green Unknown Add-On for the Greenville Square match is incorrect. I’m fairly certain that add on is called Vanishing Box & causes survivors who finish a gen to become weakened.
The green addon in the Greenville game is the vanishing box and it makes survivors weakened when they complete a gen. In case you guys are looking in the comments for what it does.
I wish one of the add one were while not in chase survivors gain weakene or like every tp survivors within 36 meters get weakened maybe to make it so snipes are worth it
lots of limitations in comp to help maintain the ideal balance at the top level of play. 4 strong survivors on comms can overcome a camping killer so anti camp cannot be used

@@Jackywhaler unfortunately the entire design of the game leads to camping and tunneling being the strongest tactics, comp can only limit so much when the foundation of the game is built around the most boring playstyles. comp uses point based systems that encourages new hooks over hooking someone twice, although at the end of the day winning will get your team the most points and hyper-tunneling someone out of the game is the easiest way for a killer to win
From what I heard, Whispy had a meltdown because they lost on Dead Dawg and left the discord mid showcase. Funny enough, that's not the first time Whispy threw a tantrum and quit on a team.

Using pro players to show an example isn't a good one. The average player struggles against this killer much more. This killer simply has too much in their kit. The ranged attacks are too easy to hit and too punishing. An aoe ranged for killers is too much. Making most loops or even corners/walls unsafe. This killer has been too easy for me while playing against him is super hard. I'm a much better killer than survivor and would say I'm average.
it is absolutely ridiculous how the power lingers and you can run into it and get injured like "I know you just rolled me and dodged my power but no you didn't because BHVR gave me the tools to 4k whilst blindfolded and playing with my feet" I'm sick of survivor mains suffering every game while killer mains 4k with 0 effort! he should have to hit you with his power and there needs to be a fat cooldown for missing so a chase can last more than 4 sec!
In my opinion this killer can rival the threat of Blight, Nurse and Spirit given enough time for players to master this killer. He just has so many tools in its kit to pull from at any given time.
This showcase shows nothing, because, in reality of pubs, 4 man swf would bring 4 off the records, 4 lithes, buckle up + ftp, syringes, stiptics, brand new parts and all broken shit that exists for survivors . I don't think, new killer can do much agains setup like that. Honestly, i think only Nurse and Blight are playable in current meta.

While this is certainly not a good spot and mistakes can happen it is indeed a very common strategy. In one of the matches you actually see a trade that doesnt pay off because of how quickly the nea dies afterwards. Even hens points out that the trade was defenitly not worth it. So going for the unhook/trade can backfire just as badly.

In some games you also realise that are going to get 4ked no matter what so you try to get as many gens as possible to improve the win con for your team.

Letting someone die is often the better play depending on the situation. Check out spookyloops who made a video about joining 4 comp players for a day (1 month ago) he also Interviews them between the matches and they also explain certain decisions made in comp. Also in comp it doesn't really matter if you escape or not. The only thing that matters is that you set up a good win condition for your own killer player. So maybe not the best play in this specific scenario but overall a quite common strategy.

It is actually a quite common strategy in comp due to many reasons. If you wanna know why you can watch spookyloops video in wich he joined comp players for one day. (1 month ago) they actually did let him die in one of his games and talked about that later. Doesnt mean it's always the right play though.
That is normal in many comp settings. Communication combined with such high tier survivors is incredible powerful and can make up for a variety of perks. (However 4 strong slowdowns might be a bit too much even for comp settings) You can check out spookyloops who made a video were he joined 4 comp players for one day. They also do a bit of interviewing between the matches covering a lot of aspects.
this killer will be a problem. With certain playstyles on this killer, players will be able to completely ignore chases. This is quite an issue. (no, i'm not a survivor main.)
But isnt that kinda important? If the survivors have no option of getting rid of status effect before the killer gets his power the whole mechanic would be useless. The idea is that the killer wants to break Los during his cooldown. If the survivors cant get rid of it before he gets his power then this while skillbased playstile is gone. Instead you infect them you wait to get your power back while chasing them in the open because you know they cant get rid of it in time anyway. That would be really really stupid.
So far I've watched the first two matches and both of them had the killer tunnel someone out. Seems pretty unfair for the person getting tunneled. Seeing as in both circumstances there has been someone else downed who could be hooked.
Quite common (but not always the case) in comp settings considering that they all are extremly experienced, communicate with each other throughout the match and practice as a team a lot.
replace it with nurse and im in. trickster is mid tier killer at best that can just tunnel 1 survivor. nurse is the autowin button for any killer player while leaving no counterplay to the survivors. but it's been 7 years since nurse was added and bhvr still haven't nerfed her properly so she's probably here to stay. also lmao at their latest attempt to balance blight, literally changed nothing.
I maybe should have clarified more, these are the 2 best teams from north america trying to get good at the killer and counterplaying him. They can obviously not have a ton of hours on the killer sadly based on the premise. Its only a sneak peak of how good players might use him. I think its totally fair to call these players top tier

8:35 I saw that Banishing Box was called "Blurry Photo", the actual effect of the Banishing Box add-on is that it weakens survivors who finish gens.

The thing is that camping is a very difficult situation for the survivors. In fact they could lose right there if they mess up the trade which I have senn many times already.

1 person dying on hook is enough time to finish all gens if done right.
Letting someone die is often the better play depending on the situation. Check out spookyloops who made a video about joining 4 comp players for a day (1 month ago) he also Interviews them between the matches and they also explain certain decisions made in comp.
Also in comp it doesn't really matter if you escape or not. The only thing that matters is that you set up a good win condition for your own killer player.
So maybe not the best play in this specific scenario but overall a quite common strategy.

I think it wont be as op as it seems here... they literally lost 2 or 3 games because they left their teammate to die in their first hook.... OF course the killer will win a 3v1. Thats why the killer won. terrible decision
It is actually a quite common strategy in comp due to many reasons.
If you wanna know why you can watch spookyloops video in wich he joined comp players for one day. (1 month ago) they actually did let him die in one of his games and talked about that later.
Doesnt mean it's always the right play though.

The killer is allowed to have 4 slowdowns but survivors to run the weakest perks in the game?
That is normal in many comp settings. Communication combined with such high tier survivors is incredible powerful and can make up for a variety of perks.
(However 4 strong slowdowns might be a bit too much even for comp settings)

this killer will be a problem. With certain playstyles on this killer, players will be able to completely ignore chases. This is quite an issue. (no, i'm not a survivor main.)
My only problem is some of his add ons seem kinda weak, and survivors get rid of the status effect too fast imo. Other than that its perfect
But isnt that kinda important? If the survivors have no option of getting rid of status effect before the killer gets his power the whole mechanic would be useless. The idea is that the killer wants to break Los during his cooldown. If the survivors cant get rid of it before he gets his power then this while skillbased playstile is gone. Instead you infect them you wait to get your power back while chasing them in the open because you know they cant get rid of it in time anyway.
That would be really really stupid.
So far I've watched the first two matches and both of them had the killer tunnel someone out. Seems pretty unfair for the person getting tunneled. Seeing as in both circumstances there has been someone else downed who could be hooked.

Quite common (but not always the case) in comp settings considering that they all are extremly experienced, communicate with each other throughout the match and practice as a team a lot.

replace it with nurse and im in. trickster is mid tier killer at best that can just tunnel 1 survivor. nurse is the autowin button for any killer player while leaving no counterplay to the survivors. but it's been 7 years since nurse was added and bhvr still haven't nerfed her properly so she's probably here to stay. also lmao at their latest attempt to balance blight, literally changed nothing.
Nothing you and Otz are involved in is anywhere close to "Top Tier" exspecially not when this CHar only existed on PTB!
I maybe should have clarified more, these are the 2 best teams from north america trying to get good at the killer and counterplaying him. They can obviously not have a ton of hours on the killer sadly based on the premise. Its only a sneak peak of how good players might use him.

we are not even sure that MMR really exists, I am still sure its still the same old Chaos Matchmaking it always was. Back in the days they wanted to turn off Ranks and the people screamed. I would think BHVR is capable of just turn it off and say they have a mmr without having an MMR at all!

@@DarylMCDeath Tournaments, average kills per game/surving rate (which could is associated with rank), hours (although not directly coordinated, experience does tend to result in more success) and seen displays of how good they are? I mean, most of these people are pretty well known- there's lots of clips to judge, and just because they make a ballsy move 1/10th of the time doesn't mean they're not crushing it 9/10ths of the time.
You're right that there's no such thing as """the best""" but... you can definately be different levels, such as good, versus really good, versus you just opened the game for the first time..

When you really watch this clips all I see is opponents that can be happy when they do not run into walls...
Nearly none of the opponents I see in Videos like this play like the survs I face! And I have many hours but never play longer than 3 days before I have enough and make a 3 weeks break! I clearly don`t have a high MMR !
And still my Survivors look like Superman compared to the Survivors I see in Hens, Otzdarva, Scott Jund and Oh Tofu Videos! That is where my Question comes from in the first place!
