My loving husband and I were going to renew our vows this year. He would sing the first verse and I the second. But, my dear husband, lover, and best friend passed away. I LOVE YOU BABY!!!!!
It was May 19th, 1990 that my husband and I danced to this song on our wedding night. In 3 days we will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary!! Life hasn't been easy, but knowing he was by my side, made everything doable. We lost a child, and many family members in these 25 years, but one that has never died is my love for him. I hope this song continues to be "our song" and that he will be my "partner for life". Love you Steve with all my heart, today, tomorrow, forever and always!! xoxox
My daddy co wrote this song. He's been gone 9 yrs now. I miss him, but his words and voice will forever live on. Not many can say that. Very proud to be his child!! :-)
Your father was indeed talented Brian. They dont produce great music like this now days. Im a young lad but when i get married i would love to dance with my wife to this song. God bless from New Zealand
I still get chills and some tears when I listen to this song. My husband died several years ago (we'd been married almost 40 yrs then), and this was "our song". He loved Anne Murray (and me...lol). He used to sing this to me while we danced in our living room. Sweet memories...make many, you will need them one day. ♥♥♥
You are a lucky Patricia you did have a partner, I a middle aged woman, 53 year old, & never danced though my father was in the Indian army, but I really feel the lovely emotion expressed in this song.
my husband too passed away this year...we danced our last dance at my best friends wedding a few months before...he is saving a dance for me in heaven...take care susan
Mom and dad had their last dance to this song at my wedding. We have been married 10 years this year. Dad passed away a little over a year later and mom passed away 6 years after him. I still can't help crying when I hear this.
I knew forever when I first saw my wife to be that I was going to marry her...June 1967...we've made it in through more than 51 years together for the rest of our lives...thank you, God, for bringing us together
I will never forget the night in the 80's when my parents (yes my parents) and I went to see Anne Murray live in Muskegon, Michigan. All three of us cried when she sang this. One of the voices of my life, thank you Anne.
This was our Wedding song. After 40 years I lost my husband April 2011. I wish we could still dance to this song. It was for us. We were finally married in 1982 and this song was us. I play this everyday. It makes me cry but it was us. I love him so very much, and would do it all over again. leonard1933ful
This song always makes me think of Jim, my husband of 42 years. He died in September 2010. He took me dancing on New Years 1967 and we always were a perfect fit on the dance floor. He even danced after he was in a wheelchair. Thankyou for posting.
I wish I could turn back all that wonderful years who spend in my life and i heard those beautiful country songs like this.Thank god for these amazing years 70s and 80s the best years for me.
I love this song! My husband and I danced this at our wedding 31 years ago. Love the lyrics. It's how I still feel about him to this day! Simply beautiful. Perfect waltzing song. My dad and mom would love this 3/4 beat! Big waltzers, however I never quite caught on.
She was mine as well. I listened to her music so much as a child. My mom would play her music every Friday night and weekends. Murray such an icon. Such a Canadian national treasure. Canada was so good in the 70s and 80s. This song brings backs so many memories of that time period
I was driving in the car with my grandma when this song came on. She told me this story... She was sitting with my grandpa and he told the music person to play this song and they did. After it was over, he just stood there all dorky and said "Well can I?" And she of course said yes! When she was telling the story she had to pull over because we both burst into tears. We lost him to cancer recently, but this story will stick with me for my whole life.
I married my bride on Oct 25 1980 and this was the song we danced to. We split up but it wasn't because we didn't love each other. Problems from her father and sister created heartache between us. She died in Sept of 2009 of cancer. She hung on after seeing everyone in creation and when her sister asked why is she still holding on who did we miss... my daughter said daddy, and the only thing said was "oh". She final passed. I know she still loved me and I know I still loved her. Every time I hear this song, I go to tears! She was my one and only. If we're ever given one soul mate in life she was mine and I was hers! Never allow family to interfere. It will have devastating effects. My father told me when he first got married his mother advice was simple. If it's about family that's what everyone is there for, if it's about your marriage that is between you and your wife and family should never intervene, do not bring that to the family and in the instance of problems the family stays out! That's for husband & wife to work out! I miss her and would do anything to have her back! God needed her though! But I will see her again and she'll be waiting for me at the gate! Thank You Anne Murray for this song! I've cherished and will cherish it for a lifetime!
Sorry for your heartache. My husband and I dance to this December 1, 1990 as our first song as husband and wife. I will always love this song. We are no longer together either because of his whore who tore us apart. I still love him and always will.
played this at my wedding 15 years ago. The next day was my parents 47th anniversary. They got to 49 and then daddy passed away. Love you both and still miss you both
I first heard this song 34yrs ago in 1980 and I loved it but had no one to share it with now im madly in love and I still love this song and will play it at my wedding
This song has been my favorite for going on 35 years ...... and it brings tears to my eyes to hear it anytime and any place .... One of the greatest songs i have ever heard and one of the most touching. Oh Lord the memories it brings back to an old man ... thank you so much Lady.
Pristine beauty is the essence of this song, it recently was the centerpiece of an eulogy I unfortunately but admirably had to deliver, non the less the lyrics of the song brought calm , hope, and connection knowing that although the departed was gone the bereaved family and fiancee could still be locked in the spirit of having the dance with him for the rest of their life. To God be the glory!
My sisters and I sang this song for our parents on their 25th anniversary party. The dance is how they met and never parted. Love you Mom and Dad. Memories always ❤
My grandparents danced to this after it came out. in January when my grandpa was on his deathbed me and my cousin played this and he held our hand as if he was dancing with my grandma who passed in 2013, he did that a few times. He didn’t know we were there but he did. Hard to listen to this song but I love it.
This song came out 20 years after my parents were married, but it did become their wedding song. It didn't matter where they were, if this song was played or came on the radio, my Dad would always come to my Mama and they would dance. Even at home in the kitchen. Both of my parents have passed on, so it brings back incredible memories for me, and I know that they are together again dancing to this wonderful song. Brian Keele - I thank your Daddy for co-writing this amazing song, it certainly touched my family
Oh that brings a tear to my eyes... hugs... he will always be with you. I will try to learn and sing this song and think of you. Love never dies... you were so blessed to have him. Take care always !
I recently lost my wife of 56 years. We were married long before this song was released but it almost instantly became our song when it was. She had a stroke and had difficulty talking but when I played this song for her she said inb a perfectly clear voice "I got married".
i fell in love with my husband the very first time we heard this song. i knew that i loved him even before he told me that he loved me! this was our wedding song!!! and i played it at his funeral as i wanted him to know just how much i loved him and still do!!! I will always love and miss him always! May he rest in peace!!!!
I remember my grandfather and grandmother dancing to this song at my uncle and aunt's 25th anniversary party... I love this song and I dedicate it to my grandfather and my grandmother (RIP Ony)... When I play this song I think of you and just remember all the great times you both had together!!! I love you!!! :o)
As someone whose taste in music is eclectic and certainly not very country, I have always loved this song. Anne Murray is some singer, well she is Canadian. I'm not Canadian but I have alweays been blessed by Canadian singers especially Guess Who!
I love this. I'm 78 and my husband didn't have to go out We'd put a record on and dance. He died in 1988 and I still miss him and our dancing together.
I danced and sang to this song when I was still in Elementary. In those days, love was all I ever wanted to feel growing up. I believed that love existed.
Takes me back many years when I danced with my wife to this sing on our wedding day nearly 2 decades ago. While I am a lousy dancer all these years, our love has stood strong these 2 decades.
This song is so beautiful. It fits our life perfectly. My husband and I fell in love when we first danced. We have been married for 39 years and we are still dancing together.
Thank God i found this song....its beyond words....
My loving husband and I were going to renew our vows this year. He would sing the first verse and I the second. But, my dear husband, lover, and best friend passed away. I LOVE YOU BABY!!!!!

This was my wedding song also..Sept 11 , 1982. Thank God we're still going strong..34 yrs this year. My prayers for comfort.
If this doesn't bring true romantics to tears, then I'm really missing something.
I will never forget the night in the 80's when my parents (yes my parents) and I went to see Anne Murray live in Muskegon, Michigan. All three of us cried when she sang this. One of the voices of my life, thank you Anne.

The chills of this song come from a brilliant musical artist who never needed Digital help to produce her amazing music.
I was driving in the car with my grandma when this song came on. She told me this story...
She was sitting with my grandpa and he told the music person to play this song and they did. After it was over, he just stood there all dorky and said "Well can I?" And she of course said yes!
