    Mate... What a legend. I was starting to get really frustrated by that noise, just could not find the cause. This literally changed the whole expeirence of driving the car with the roof up. I used a cut off piece from a cable tie by the way, two layers, worked like a charm. 10/10 would recommend. Have posted on the E93 FB group as well.

    This is exactly how to do it without taking any part off. I figure it out myself a few weeks ago and fixed my e93 m3.

    Just found your video after narrowing my rattle down to the roof (didn't happen when open) seems to have fixed it! In case someone reads this who's pin came out like mine did they just pick back up with a bit of force (I was panicked 😂) also when finished the pin won't go back up unless the pin is in the correct twisted position. (On mine anyway, non M3 model) thanks 👍

    wow i really cant thank you enough! I have been putting up with the tin rattle roof for years and was always put off by the one hour crazy videos on how to solve it. I fixed it in 15 minutes watching this video. Tip for everyone regarding what plastic to use - i cut about FOUR OR FIVE strips of plastic (for each side) which come in the packaging for superglue covers. Thanks again!! :))

    Thanks for this informative video! I have an e93 with roof rattle so was excited to see this. I was able to get the little bolt down and have the roof at that 90 degree service angle but I’m unable to twist the bolt at all. I have an 8mm open end wrench on it and it wont budge. I’m afraid to break anything so not going to force it. Do you twist it clockwise? Or counter? It looks like it should go clockwise to extend the pins, but again - I don’t want to force it and break anything!
    How hard was it to get your to extend, and which way did you twist?

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  9 місяців тому +1

      Extending it is a bit tricky but doable. If it isn’t twisting then you will need to pull it out further until it does. Find where the sweet spot is to start turning it as it should spin easily with a 8 mm box wrench. Good luck 👍

      Ok interesting-
      When I first pulled it down it actually came almost the way out! I had to re-insert it. Maybe I just need to pull it further down. I’ll try and report!

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  9 місяців тому +1

      @@agegg23 it’s ok for it to come out, just put it back in and find how far to stick it in that allows twisting it to actuate the pins.

      That did it! So glad I asked. It turns easily - almost by hand.
      I cut the edges off a plastic case of batteries, folded it over and slid it under the spring. Closed it all up and now I’ll test drive it.
      Thanks for the advice and quick response!!!

    In 1:47 - I am not able to pull that lever down. It's completely stuck. I found perfect fitting screw and pulled with a lot of force, both with roof closed and half open but it just won't go down. I tried wiggling a little bit to the sides to somehow unjam it but nothing. Any idea why?
