one other thing, cold shoes are the adaptors on Medium and Large format cameras, to take a flash or trigger, but it is the PC-Sync cable, which carries the power to the switch inside the leaf shutter lens, or the camera's flash circuitry, allowing the flash to fire.
Hi there, I have the Sony microphone that connects on the hotshoe like the one you showed. Recently I started using a small cage for my a7iii, the issue is that the top handle now blocks the hotshoe. I tried using a multi flash cable to place the microphone away but they don't seem to work. I don't want to but another microphone, do you know any solutions? Thanks!
@@DennisRosenberg Yes but that means I have to buy a new microphone. I bought the Sony microphone that connect only to the hotshoe, it has no output cables.
Got my answer in the first 44 second. Great video.

Is it possible to mount a hotshoe Rode Shotgun mic that usually goes on my camera to a coldshoe from my gimbal cage?
How can you connect a mic and a flash at the same time? 😅 does having a gimbal help or you can only do 1 at a time

Great camera, I have one too. You need an audio cable to connect the mic output to the camera’s external mic input.
