Hello from London, UK. I think you're one of the few American photography guys I've watched that isn't overly loud and brash. Just laid back, honest and very likeable. Clear concise and honest explanations - great video, thanks.

What are the Basics of Flash Photography? Modes: 1. Manual: change output manually. 2. TTL: automatically determines output. 3. Multi: more control... set flash to fire multiple times + intervals. Flash Power: 1/1 → 1/256 | brightest → darkest - Brighter can increase recycle time. - Adrian typically shoots 1/32 ~ 1/16. Flash Zoom: Spread/size of flash, - Some have auto setting - Generally, match to lens eg. 35mm 85mm etc Channels: communication between flash & trigger - Match between flash & trigger - If multiple photographers, use separate channels Groups: can assign different flashes to each group
I'm sure someone has already said this or something similar but multi mode is how in like a skateboard magazine you'll see a photo with like multiple images of a skater doing a single trick in one photo, it'll be a long exposure and the flash will illuminate the subject multiple times as it's changing position.
I’ve been shooting for years, and have also been a little confused about my flash. You explained exactly what I wanted to know. Such a simple but concise explanation. Thank you!
This is a guy who is the type who is not afraid to pick something up and teach himself. Much respect to guys like him. I agree with just about everything he says. Great stuff bro. Keep it coming. Guys like you are how I learn. Thanks for your time and knowledge

Atleast im not alone. Been a photographer for 15 years but past 2 years iv gotten into dirt sprint cars and such HEAVILY almost entirely taking over my photography. Until then, iv never used a flash so trying to figure it out these past 2 years winging it has been rough since nobody directly really makes "night piss poor back woods bad lighting dusty dirt racing flash photo tutorials" lol
I'm way late to the party, I know but, Multi Mode is Strobe. You can set how many times the flash will fire, in a strobe effect, and how much time there is between each successive flash. Btw, thank you for this video! I came in knowing a little about flash, but after watching your video it now seems less....daunting.

Thanks dude! Great video. I really like the part about adjusting everything you can 'in camera' and using the flash to fill in the shadows. Thanks for the tips!
excellent job describing the basics. you covered the foundation and gave good advice. and tips. most instruction from other photographers is not as good as yours because your approach is step by step like a well written recipe with no details missing. You start at the beginning and then continue to add info. You gave enough info for me to set up speed lights. THANKS. appreciated it and will look at your other videos on lighting
Love love love how simple this video is! I’ve watched a lot of UA-cam videos where I end up confused but man this is hands down the best video to refer to for anyone wanting to learn speedlight!
Man Great content, I am also a pro wedding photographer, last 15 years, I was the same way, practice practice , I only shoot manual, all the time also use multi settings, Love other photographers and frequently encourage new photographers, everyone thinks the cell phone will replace, noway! for me it mostly a hobby. I am a radiologist by profession. Photography is my thing, and I use all Sony Gear. Thank You for educating new photographers
Well done! I use both ttl and manual. For speed I use ttl, when I have time, i use manual. The nice thing with ttl is flash compensation. When the light changes frequently, flash compensation is a must for me. I guess it just comes down to personal preference. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Great beginner discussion, perfect for people like me. You explained the basic idea on so many functions. For instance, I had NO IDEA what that use was for the bounce card. Thanks a lot Dude.
Very helpful. You answered most of my questions so I didn't have to waste time looking each one up. And even more importantly, you broke it down in such a user-friendly way that you reduced my intimation big-time.
