About a month ago I bought a iPhone 8 to try out a smaller phone for a low price. I did not drop it once where the Xaomi was already shattered after a month because it dropped like 200 times.

The hardware looks really good, but yeah, software still needs some work. I suspect this also still ships with Android 11, and thus doesn't have all the foldable tweaks of Android 12 or the upcoming Android 12L. Once those release, the experience will hopefully be better, especially wrt to portrait vs landscape mode.
Fwiw, I'm not sure apps always decide on pixel count for the orientation, since there are clearly landscape tablets which work just fine. It's probably just a configuration issue or a problem with having two different screens - one portrait, one landscape.

Yes this. Many chinese brands only shine in the present and forget the long run user experience. Lack of software updates, bad software optimization and polish, and other things. Chinese brands also love to experiment with crazy tech like these hinges on this oppo, because they don't care if they fail in 1-2 years of use. They will quickly forget about it and try to sell you a new completely different, crazier one. Maybe samsung is trying to stick with what they tested and what they can trust will last many years of use. Too many brands only care about the present... and these reviews also only review them when they are brand new, not with many months of use

    • @azenyr

Not to mention they don't have any IP rating on this phone and nothing is said about any mini brushes that auto clean and protect the hinges like the samsung does. So I guess this oppo will not last long, once dust starts to get in that hinge. Remeber that Samsung also has gone the extra mile and actually coated all of the insides of the hinge in an anti rust clear coat, and used water and wear resistant lubricant on the hinge, so that no matter what you do with the phone that hinge will last for sure. OPPO? Did a square foldable with a slightly wider outer screen and that's it. Nothing else was mention, no protections for the hinge, nothing. This whole Linus video was talking about the wider display and a very small already double crease that's not noticeable because it is brand new. Useless video, useless phone. Move on

Just download Rotation Control and set which orientation you want as the default or just set an individual app. These apps have been around since 2012, though it's as if they're purposely being ignored just so people have something else to complain about, oh and iOS has no such utility.

Have you ever owned a OnePlus phone? Samsung phones are wayyyy better quality, hell, in my experience my Honor 10 is better quality than what I’ve had from OnePlus. (OnePlus 7 Pro, got screen burnin within a few months and it overheated on lightweight games which my Honor never struggled with.)

@@CyberPunkSimms My OnePlus 7 Pro seems to be doing just fine, on par with my previous Galaxy S8. Both had some burn in in the notification bar, but I honestly only see it when I intentionally open a single colored image. I also don't really play mobile games so it doesn't overheat for me, but it obviously gets warm when I charge it up (the warp charger actually keeps it cooler than if I were to charge it with a standard samsung charger).
My OnePlus One is also still working just fine which is why I am planning to reuse it for other projects.

@@th3w4tchm3n3 lucky you, the selfie camera wouldn’t even pop up, from where the adhesive had deformed and it’d take a few attempts for the camera to pop. I’m a heavy user, but from the specs, it was aimed at gamers and somewhat heavy users. I replaced it within a year, to a Galaxy Note9 which I loved apart from the poor battery and software. Ended off just switching to an iPhone X, sticking a new high capacity battery in it and it works perfectly fine and reliable. I tend to use my PC for most stuff now, but the 4 year old iPhone still smashed through tough objects, it can struggle a lot in games but the same went for the Note9.

@@CyberPunkSimms weird, my 7t pro worked just fine, and still does. I only bought an 8 for better battery life lol. In any case don't judge every phone off of the lemon you got.

@@CyberPunkSimms Ok, well I probably used my selfie cam like at max 200x over the last 2 years (thats like 10 selfies and 190 unlocks with the front cam). So I guess it could be a weak point if I was into selfies. But since I am not it's actually one of the strongest reasons why I still have my 7 Pro, I just don't need a front cam pointing at me at all times and using up some of the display.
My battery is also still surprisingly good for its age (according to CPU-Z its health is "good"), my friend with his iPhone X had to charge his twice as much.

1:35 - there is a toggle for that. You either turn the need to press or on off.
