quirion ranger is another great combo piece with ashaya. Tap Ashaya to play Quirion, Return Quirion to hand to untap Ashaya, tap the creature to play Quirion, it's a new instance of quirion so it can activate it's effect again untapping Ashaya. Infinite Landfall and/or Creature etbs... though idk if it counts as a 1 card combo, since you still need something to take advantage of it like Horn of Greed or Soul of the Harvest or something.
One way to make infinite mana with that is a land or mana dork that taps for at least 2. Alternatively, have a haste enabler so you can tap ashaya and quirion before bouncing quirion to untap ashaya
another combo I like for Ashaya is Quirion Ranger, for mass landfall triggers. combine with haste or Lotus Cobra and it goes infinite
But quirion ranger can only be done once a turn I thought?
Or any dork that taps for more than one mana.
@@bendybendum8508 Ashaya turns quirion ranger into a forest so it can bounce itself to untap ashaya, then ashaya can tap for a green (as a forest) to pay for the ranger. Since it's now in your hand you can replay it and the game sees it as a new quirion ranger, meaning it can activate again. Rinse and repeat.
in addition to comboing with nethroi, scourge has fantastic synergy with alesha who smiles at death as well
My favorite ketiss interaction is with fiery emancipation because the first opponent takes triple damage and then the other opponents take 9x damage because emancipation triples ketiss’ damage
just add crucible of fire

Chatterfang with Pitiless Plunderer is another one. It looks like you need another piece when you first see it but it doesn't:
Chatterfang and Plunderer in play
2 squirrel tokens
1 black mana
Activate Chatterfang sacrificing a squirrel token and targetting the second
Both squirrels die triggering Plunderer creating 2 treasures
Chatterfang replaces 2 treasures with 2 treasures and 2 squirrel tokens
Repeat
Alternatively:
Activate Chatterfang sacrificing both squirrel tokens and targetting an enemy creature
Both squirrels die triggering Plunderer creating 2 treasures
Chatterfang replaces 2 treasures with 2 treasures and 2 squirrel tokens
Repeat
Result:
Infinite targetted removal
Infinite colored mana
Infinite Treasure tokens
Infinite ETB
Infinite LTB
Infinite death triggers
Infinite sacrifice triggers
Nethroi with negative is an awesome interaction that makes perfect sense but I never thought about, good show.
I don't think that combo actually works. the demons text shouldn't apply when he is in the graveyard as long as its not graveyard spesific. if someone destroyed your ghostly prison you wouldnt expect them to still have to pay the 2 to attack. Or if your Atarax was in the grave you wouldn't continue to proliferate at your endstep. if this turns out to not be true u would say CQ should be more carful about missinformation, but if im wrong i humbly appologize, but i dont think im wrong.
@@baconinc2405 The power and toughness do indeed apply in the graveyard I use this often in my Mimoplasm deck with Mortivore/Consuming Aberration. If you look up the Consuming Aberration in gatherer is even says this rules text "The ability that defines Consuming Aberration's power and toughness applies in all zones, not just the battlefield." BUUUTTT I'm not sure if the minus part works though XD
@@garra277 wouldn't that make consuming aberration the power and toughness of the number if creature's in the graveyard? And if that where true wouldn't that make the demons power and toughness equal to the greatest life total i.e. 40 making him a 20/20?

@@baconinc2405 I'm definitely not saying that; each creature is under different rules, and Scourge of Skyclaves says it's power and toughness are each equal to 20 MINUS the highest life total among players. For example if both players are at 40 life then it will make the formula: 20 - 40 = -20 so we are left with a negative number when we follow what Scourge says, the others are card are to illustrate that it does function in the graveyard when the ability is resolving for the purpose of the Emergent Ultimatum.
Locust god + Sage of the Falls is not only a budget one card infinite, it can also be Polymorphed out

@@spitfiremase you need a payoff, but it lets you loot through your whole deck and make as many 1/1s as you need. Chances are you can loot your way to a labman
Be mindful that if your deck runs a 1 card combo with its commander, people will kill your commander on sight everytime and counter your commander a ton. My friend got his 1 card combo off once and after that the table always kept an answer in hand so that we didn’t instantly lose.
Unless your commander has eminence, never comes out, and is Inalla lol. She was my first commander deck. I still find the combo to be not that bad and just have it as the only combo in the deck, I took out the other combo mages.
Exactly why I (publicly) took all the 1 card combos out of my Niv-Mizzet Parun deck lol
This is why counterspells like fierce guardianship, pact, and force of will are sooo important for combo decks
I wouldn’t mind seeing an all luck commander deck. ( dice roll , coin clip , chosen at random , etc ) I’m currently trying to build one. Im going to wait and see what baldur’s gate has, see what dice rolls will be printed in that set.
You'd be better off just focusing on coin-flipping til Baldurs Gate is released. After that the dice rolling only gets that much more viable

The zacama combo would also work with cloudstone curio and a, for example, llanowar elf, just bounce them off of each other
I happened upon the Ezuri/Sage of Hours combo while updating the stock Ezuri deck. Was my first combo in EDH
These are always really interesting episodes, while I don’t play a lot of combo decks, I love the technical aspects of magic’s rules and the cool stuff it allows

love the morophon/jodah combo, use it in my tiamat dragon tribal deck, cast tiamat after jodah and morophon are out, and cast 5 dragons for free. great value
I took out sage of hour from my ezuri a while back, since it was so easy to pull off (4xp counter before casting sage and having your commander on the field). I was Winning from nowhere and it felt unpleasant for my opponents and myself. Now my list is pretty optimised but no infinite combos :)
Animar, Soul of Elements + Ancestral Statue is a very classic 2 card combo. At worst it buffs Animar to infinity, at best you also have an Impact Tremors/Purphoros/Warstorm Surge/Walking Ballista/Bontu's Monument/Grapeshot to finish everyone with damage/life loss or Altar of the Brood/Brain Freeze to mill them out.
Inalla, Archmage Ritualist + Wanderwine Prophets is also a two card infinite turn combo, if you reach the mana required.
Felisa also combos with Phyrexian Devourer. even without a drain life outlet (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, etc) and an infinite sac outlet, you can still present lethal through the air with a sufficient number of attacking inklings on your next attack step for as long as Felisa the Devourer survive a turn cycle. I've actually won more more games with my Felisa "The Room"-themed deck via lethal attacks with my inklings (crack the Devourer on the end step before your turn) as opposed to having the infinite sac and life loss synergy on board already
A few others would be:
Niv + Curiosity
Dina + Exquisite Blood
Yedora + Ruthless ripper
Heliod + Walking Ballista
However, as someone else pointed out, be VERY careful with this type of strategy. In cEDH it works better because everyone is gunning for their combo win. In a more casual meta you WILL get targeted after the first time, leading to feel bads. It's okay to have a combo or two in there; but redundancy and a plethora of win cons (particularly more combat focused ones) might serve you better.
Yup. Also with Niv I use Tandam Lookout and Ophidian Eye. Also run three nivs, two just for the combo lol. My Niv doesn’t just need to combo out either. I also deck myself for the win with Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. And even if both of those might be a challenge to do, the deck is spell heavy with lots of token makers,

Yarok and Palinchron is also a very strong combo if you got a copy of Panharmonicon lying around
With morophon you can actually play fist of the suns to basically negate your spell costs for each card of the type chosen with moropho.

What about inalla, archmage ritualist ? She is the QUEEN of 1 card combos without even beeing on the battlefield! I think she deserves at least a spot in this list.
The combo with second chance also works with Tameshi if I am not wrong
I remember combining off against Eddie during turn 5 with sage of hours was fun
I am happy there are shrine decks now, because I always wanted to run a pure shrine deck, so I know not to run second chance in the deck to be fair.

Instead of elixir go for psychic spiral. Run cards to return instant sorcery to hand and mill yourself to win.
I run all those Ashaya combos in my Ashaya Deck.
Another thing you can do with Ezuri and Sage of Hours is suck all of the morale out of your friends at the table.
I had a Heliod, Sun-Crowned deck that I would combo with Walking Ballista. Eventually stopped playing it in my group because I didn't find it enjoyable win with.
Theres someone at the local card shop that plays this. I counter it by moving his life link trigger to my spellskite. It's funny

I would use Eldrazi displacer for Zacama. Works pretty well

Quick question for combos like morophon how do you use that in commandeer because you can’t play outside your commander colors?
Morophon is 5 color so nothing is outside his color ID

Bring in form of the dragon in at the end of you opponent's turn with Go-Shintai to make your life 5 and trigger second chance.

phyrexian devoured got errated so the ability is all in one. so if it's above 7 the first time the ability resolves it dies

Scourge of the skyclaves with Apex of Death though? that seems really odd. Wouldn't Enemy of Enlightenment work in a similar way then? the more cards in your opponents hands the less power it has and if the math works like you say it does i would think Apex of Death would treat creatures like these like their power was 0.
Scourge works only because it has an asterisk for its power. Because of that its power changes in each zone. Enemy of enlightenment on the other hand is a 5/5 and its ability is only active on the field. Similar things are how Alesha and grenzo decks bring back things that come in with counters because they're technically 0/0's
I think Kediss was misunderstood a bit! I'm pretty sure that the damage stays commander damage, considering that Malcolm and Kediss is a popular combo?

Commander damage is specifically only combat damage dealt by a commander. Kediss deals the extra damage with an ability so it's not commander damage
With the ruling on Death's Shadow where negative values are treated as zero, doesn't Scourge of the Skyclaves behave as a 0/0, and therefore not work for the combo?
rule 107.1b creature's power and toughness can be in the negatives. One of the few instances of mtg where it doesn't default to 0.

So 21 would be enough to kill the first person (because it is combat damage), but you would need to get the full 40 through to kill the other 2?

No because the damage done by kediss wouldn’t be combat damage, it only kills at 21 for the person you are attacking.
Commander damage is only dealt by combat damage.

Power levels matter. If your playing low/mid/battle cruiser then combos like this are a no no. Mid it might be ok if you dont have ways to search up the combo piece making the combo inconsistent/unlikely to happen. You should still discuss with your play group tho. High power/competitive tho you go right on ahead. Wreck their shit.

Ever sense MTG started printing their own proxies my play group have stopped caring about proxies. I suggest you star buying high quality proxies and stop paying WotC for cardboard and start paying $2 for custom art proxies because no one cares anymore.
That’s what I just did with some of my income tax and I’ve never been happier 😂 screw WOTC. Honestly I never thought I’d see the day that I would willingly proxy but the way they’ve handled the game and most of all the debacle of arena has completely turned me off. I’ll never give them another dime if I can avoid it.
