Thank you for providing so much value FREE of charge.
Most people will not comprehend that this information is worth thousands of dollars.

When I was taking my architectural exams, I kept looking for this type of information. Since none was available, I just did what I could. I wish I could do more, but my time is limited. Thank you for your appreciation of the channel.

Love your videos! They've made it very helpful while studying for my NCIDQ as an Interior Designer. One thing I'd love for you to make a video for, would be how to do basic lighting calculations, how to read a lighting spread diagram, and how to estimate how much lighting is needed in a space. Thank you for making overwhelming topics simplified! :)

That is an awesome subject. To be honest however, I am focusing on the architecture portion of the code right now, the "International Building Code" (IBC). There is a separate code for electrical items; it is the "National Electrical Code" that is whole separate subject. Although very integral. Sadly, I may not get to that subject. I AM VERY SORRY. But who knows, maybe in the future things will open up for archicorner to expand!

    Thank you for the videos!!!
I still have one question( Should stair doors have maneuvering clearances and which code provides information regarding it?

Short answer is yes. But every state is a bit different. Some use the ADA, other use ANSI A117.1 and other use the accessible chapter of the State Building Code. They are all very similar and in theory they should all at minimum meet ADA. The difference between states is that some are more stringent.
I know this is vague but that is the best I can do without knowing where you live. The best option is to hire a local architect in your area and he or she can guide you through your state's specific requirements.

So how do you get a ratio if one of the occupancy is unlimited for Type IB?

Thank you for the videos! But quick question - the code reference for Sa being 4 seems to only reference residential occupancies with NFPA 13R sprinklers. So is it only for those residential occupancies, or for any sprinklered occupancy? I thought it was most often 3. Thanks!

hello. thank you for this. I'd like to note that the factor of 4 I understand to only be used if Sprinklered with NFPA 13 R. it is still a factor of 3 with NFPA 13. It would be nice if you clarified that. thank you

this is very helpful. Would like to see the same video with the California Building Code. I'm finding it difficult with the "with and without increases" in Chapter 5.

Some episodes where specific to California Code but didn’t get as good a response as expected. The videos are geared more towards IBC since that is the base code for all states. But maybe in the future more will come up if more people ask for them.

At 3:35, is it accurate to call Sa = 4 just because the building is sprinklered, or is that specific to NFPA-13R sprinklers, which means it's an R occupancy?

Great question. Per IBC Section 506.2.1, In order for Sa to = 4, the building must be sprinklered per IBC section 903.3.1.2. This section makes reference to NFPA 13R which then stands to reason that it is limited to a Group R Occupancy sprinklered building.
