On my journey to find the best affordable hybrid sunscreen cause the ones I have my eyes on (Anessa and Kanebo Allie) are way too expensive for me as a student
As long as the chemical sunscreen absorbs well on your skin, u can go about your day as usual. No need to wait 20-30mins. It works as soon as you apply it. Some formula might feels heavy on some skin types, that's why you need it to set - this goes for physical sunscreens too.
Mineral sunscreen (physical) is superior! I just use tinted. The chemical was messing up my skin, but when I switched to mineral it stopped! It also gives me a light coverage for blemishes!
I saw chemical sunscreens cause many health hazards as they are absorbed into blood though skin. Do physical sunscreens also get absorbed into skin ???
Using k-beauty sunscreen Benton Air Fit UV Defense which is a chemical sunscreen works well on my skin…i used a physical sunscreen but i felt insecure if the whitecast is still on my face😅 8:21
I have a two year old that suffers from severe eczema and her dermatologist recommended Aveeno, which is a physical sunscreen. I believe the Babyganics chemical sunscreen is what was causing her skin to flare up. So far the new Aveeno has helped. I do not notice much of a white cast.
Everytime i use or try chemical sunscreens they make me red and tight skinned. Just cannot use them which us annoying as ive wasted money. Aqau milk spf 50 + is one of the only minerals that doesn't cause white cast for me
I started now to use sunscreen-quikfx pimple eraser sunscreen(lotion) bec. I use retinol serum and cream at night, I just want to ask, do I have to use moisturiser b4 sunscreen and is this chemical or physical sunscreen? Thank u Dr. 😁
@@Skynfyx I've heard that because physical sunscreen reflects sunlights, you shouldn't apply anything on top of physical sunscreen (makeup or something), because makeup covers sunscreen and the sunscreen doesn't work, so it should be the last step (it refers only to the physical sunscreen, not chemical of course). Is there any truth in that? I personally always use physical sunscreen and never use makeup because of this.
I know it probably doesn’t make a difference, but if you’re trying to treat hyperpigmentation but are afraid of chemical sunscreens converting uv rays into heat and triggering melanosis, would it be better to opt for mineral sunscreen? But are mineral sunscreens essential if you’re using active ingredients (niacinamide) to treat hyperpigmentation that can counter that effect? I think a lot of POC have a a significant amount of trepidation toward chemical sunscreens because of the idea of heat formulating inside the skin and causing more pigment production
Thank you for this vid, Dr! I have been wondering about this recently and this video came in the right time. There are actually quite a lot of physical sunscreens now that doesn't leave a whitecast (or at least it's so minimal that it's unnoticeable). A physical sunscreen I love is Yadah Oh My SPF 50+PA++++. Doesn't have an oily feel, no whitecast. Perfect for my oily and acne prone skin.

Doesn't matter which one, both sunscreen you have to reapply, reapply and reapply, and the right amount to achieve the SPF stated
The difference is physical sunscreens are more suitable for sensitive skin

Mineral coverts uv rays into heat as well. It’s such a small difference of heat compared to chemical that it doesn’t make a difference.
Which one should go last, moisturizer or sunscreen (chemical) ? 🤔
You need both. Apply moisturizer first then sunscreen.
Thanks for sharing I’ve heard that you have to moisturizer after if you use chemical sunscreen what are your thoughts?
No. Use sunscreen as your last step in skincare (aka after moisturiser)
Yes. Use sunscreen after moisturizer.
