    The day I picked up my 2016 Vulcan SE, I hit a bad patch of road and the suspension bottomed out with the factory setting. My heart sank thinking I had just made the worst purchase ever. As soon as I got the bike home, off came the seat to get to the tool kit and I adjusted the pre load 2 clicks. What a difference. Been great ever since and have not needed to adjust since. Mine did come with the Allen Key Btw. Cheers from the great white north.

      +JMac147 Have to agree with you mate it's a different machine with the preload clicked up. Seems hit or miss if you get an Allen key 😀

    Sad to here that you are no longer feeling it, I thought your videos are fun and informative, I have a Vulcan s 2018 love riding her as much as I can, being in Edmonton Alberta Canada winter's here are brutal, (snow and cold) can't wait for spring.
    I miss the UK I was born in Chelmsford Essex, and lived near Ipswich before coming to Canada in 1974

      Canada sounds nicer than Essex 😂 glad you liked the videos. It got to the point though where I was hoping something would happen on a ride which took away from the ride itself. I did what I set out to do and put some info up about a great bike so I’m happy with that. Thanks again Richard.

    Seat Allen key is un the locked side panel....so you can access the full kit whilst on the road. You were looking right at it.

      Nope, nothing there. There is something that looks suspiciously like a clip on the side of the battery. Is that where you've seen one? I just watched my footage in slow mo ready to post a public "doh" video.... Phew.

      Pointless101 _ I saw a video once where someone had an Allen key in that spot the other guy mentioned. Mine doesn't have one there either, but I assumed there is just a spot for one but you supply your own. If you look under that unlockable cover there is a vertical hole where you would slide an Allen key into.

      Thanks man I'll check that out. £6000 and you have to provide your own allen key..... HA!

      I have a 2015 Vulcan S ABS (in USA). My bike does have an Allen key in the locked side panel.

    I'm glad you got to a point that you were happy with situation, and can see where spending all kind of time on the utube side and not riding for your pleasure good for you, and I'm glad you noticed it before it made you changed person, thanks again for answering, and please enjoy your riding and be safe.

    Great to see you back. I have a 2016 and i love it. Great city bike which was improved with a Madstad windshield.
    I could believe all the stuff you were able to load on the bike. i was quite amazed. Looking forward to seeing some of your vacation travels on Vlog.

    Its easier if you use the handle with the suspension adjustment tool (in the tool pouch with the other tools).

    Page 56 of the Owner's Manual explains how to remove seat with the allen key stored next to the battery accessible through the panel on the left side of motorcycle that has a key hole.
    I like your videos but this shows you didn't RT*M.
    Good video otherwise with good information.
    Thank You

    I haven't tried it... but the compartment on the left side of the bike should contain an allen key to be able to release the seats and so on... ;)
    Nice vid!

    On my 2015 vulcan s the Allen key is right behind the side cover, just open with the ignition key.

    Help. Please educate me. Bought a vulcan s today. (Used) this is my first bike. I am five foot / 100 lbs. Bike is just low enough for me to plant both feet firmly. Friend suggested dropping suspension to lowest setting in hopes of improving my reach to the ground. Will that help? Will it change the way the bike rides for someone as light as me? Not familiar with terms ... brand new to riding.

    • @pointless101_8
      @pointless101_8  7 років тому

      +Tina Games you can certainly try my friend. As a shorter rider myself I used to just lean😀. Don't think the ride height is altered much by the suspension on the Vulcan though as it's set at quite an angle already to lower the seat height. Kawasaki do offer a rider fit setup though (different bars, peg positions and seats), go and chat with your dealer. Good luck!

    What setting is the factory? Is the adjustment needed because to rider weight or just ride?

    • @pointless101_8
      @pointless101_8  7 років тому +1

      Mine came one click off the softest setting. I adjusted it up due to the heavy load I was about to put on the bike for touring. After a week away I think the factory setting is too soft. This is all down to personal preference though. I will be experimenting. Thanks for watching!

      MrEye4get When I asked the shop where I purchased the bike, they said it was set for a rider of about 145lbs.

    One of the mechanics at my Kawasaki dealership strongly suggested I upgrade my shock. He said that from a "bang for the buck" there is no upgrade better than this for anyone, say 180ish and over in weight. The stock shock is just not built for big people. I haven't done this yet, but it is likely my next major mod.

    Are ther aftermarket suspension parts to be had?

  • @TimBWig
    @TimBWig 4 роки тому

    This does not make the suspension softer or harder. It only changes the preload.

    • @pointless101_8

      Erm not sure it was a while back, guessing mid range. Play with it though and find what works for your weight.

    Essa tampa lateral é horrível para fechar. O encaixe é difícil. Prefiro deixar as ferramentas no bau traseiro da Givi onde é fácil o acesso. No mais, essa motocicleta é excelente. Obrigado pelo vídeo.
