Hank Williams Junior had a severe life threatening injury . His face was surgically rebuilt . From a bag of mush to a functional face. His music spans decades but probablly his most famous songs are the theme song for the NFL and "a country boy can survive" He also performed many of his fathers songs

Cash was never imprisoned. He performed in several prisons. Was arrested a few times for minor crimes. Cash enlisted in the Air Force on July 7, 1950. After basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and technical training at Brooks Air Force Base, both in San Antonio, Texas, Cash was assigned to the 12th Radio Squadron Mobile of the U.S. Air Force Security Service at Landsberg, West Germany. He worked as a Morse code operator intercepting Soviet Army transmissions.

Hank Jr. was doing an impersonation of Johnny's voice and did a decent job with it. Johnny was a natural baritone and but could some base to high tenor, so he at least had a 4 octave range. Johnny's voice was very distinctive because he had a natural quiver in his voice when he sang, like no other artist since or before. Johnny was the King of Country during his time. George Strait holds that honor now.

Hank Jr, is actually doing that, 2 git a Johnny Cash sound, which he did very well . Not only did Johnny encourage Hank, when he fell off the mountain, and almost died, he, and his wife June, were his GodParent’s, and visited him almost daily, as he recovered 😎😎😎👍👍👍

“Will the circle” was written in 1907 by an English woman named Ada Habershon. It was recorded many times but the version in this clip is the version that The Carter Family recorded with lyrics they changed to make it more their style. Johnny sang it during most of his concerts.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band did a Grammy winning anthology record featuring Mother Maybelle and other old timers called 'Will the Circle be Unbroken'. The sequel to that featured Johnny. Both ended with all the performers singing the song.. That's why they were called on to do this segment.

Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristoffson, and Willie Nelson formed a super group called The Highwaymen and did an album of the same name. The lead song on the album was THE HIGHWAYMAN. Just imagine that much talent and experience on one stage. It is obvious they did not do this for the money or fame. They all had more than their share of those things. They did it for the love of their craft and for the fun.
If you do this song, I highly recommend that you do the Official Video. And have the lyrics pulled up. This song is very unique and is an experience. The group toured the country and made several albums. The love, friendship and respect between the four men is apparent.😢

In addition to his singing talents, Johnny Cash could also act. He was a guest star in a Columbo episode and the song he did in that one was also a hymn. The episode was S3E7. Columbo, played by the late Peter Falk, was a detective with a very unusual style, very, very persistent! That was a great TV show. I have it in my home collection. If you ever watched the Princess Bride you saw Peter Falk. He was the grandpa reading the story. If you've never seen the movie you *must* react to it! It's iconic and has the greatest fencing scenes ever done in movies.

So much to say. June Carter Cash was from a famous country music family. She was a comedienne as well as a singer. She wrote "Ring of Fire" and many other songs. She was Johnny's love and life. She died shortly after the video of "Hurt". Johnny followed soon after.
Johnny's resonant baritone was his trademark. You heard it when he sang and when he spoke. Enough for now. May you have the day that YOU deserve.

Will the Circle is most associated with Johnny's wife's June Carter's family, the Carter family was THE pioneering recording artists and Johnny and June often performed it. It is so iconic that if you watch the Grand Ole Opry performances, you'll notice the stage has a circle of wood in the middle of it. When the Opry moved from the Ryman downtown, to the new larger venue at Opryland, they took a circle from the Ryman stage and placed it Opryland on the stage there and it is a tribute to that song and tied the two venues and histories together. Ring of Fire that was performed in this was also a song written by June Carter Cash. June's mother is referred to as Mother Maybelle Carter, mother of country music and she had a unique guitar style that now people work to emulate, and June's sisters Anita and Helen, along with June performed together as the Carter Family and were much bigger stars when Johnny came along and fell in love with June, despite them being married to other people. Mother Maybelle was a part of the original Carter singing group from the 20's and 30's which consisted of Maybelle and her brother in law and sister in law, AP and Sara Carter. Johnny basically married into the royal family of country music when he married June..

First Recording 1955, last recordings 2003, the year he passed away...
And yes, he had a really low voice and a big vocal range!
Willie is 89 now, still recording and touring. Kris retired a year or two ago.
"Will the circle be unbroken" was first recorded by the Carter Family... so it stays in the family (June Carter was Johns second wive).
And Hank, jr. ... I don't know... I think he was high or drunk on that show! 😀

May the Circle be Unbroken is an ancient Gospel hymn written in 1907 decades before Cash’s birth. The first time it hit the charts and was played on radio was when the first family of country music recorded it. That was The Carter Family in the 1920’s One of the members was Maybelle Carter mother of June and future mother in law of Johnny Cash. He and June sang a lot of the Carter Family songs.

Another great tribute to Johnny... "I Walk the Line, Revisited"... It is a modification of the original song (The one that Willie Nelson sang in this video" and it features clips from a very young Johnny (I would guess from back in the 1950's), BEFORE Johnny became the "Man in Black"... The song is done by Rodney Crowwell, who was once married to Johnny's daughter, Roseanne, who is also a singer as well..
Johnny was one half of a super group called "The Million Dollar Quartet"... Four artists that had (Originally) come from Sun Records, that made a huge impact on music, not to mention, pioneered rock and roll, around the year 1955... The quartet included Johnny, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and, of course, Elvis...

I believe WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN was written by someone else, but an arrangement by AP Carter (who wrote “keep on the Sunny side“), June, Carter Cash’s uncle made the song famous. It was sung by the carter family, influential folk group from the hills of East Tennessee, led by mother, Maybelle, and her two daughters, one of whom, June, married Johnny Cash.

  • @matthewdooley7855

Cash had a famously low voice. You could do a whole week on Johnny Cash songs. He was very socially conscious, and also has a ton of just fun songs. You can sort of track his personal demons in his music, too. Hank Williams Jr. might have been high this day when he sang "Ring of Fire"; which in itself would have been a tribute of sorts to Cash and also to Hank's famous father. The guy singing "Jackson" (yes, Mississippi) is Travis Tritt. He's got some fun stuff. "May the Circle Be Unbroken" isn't a Cash original - but it's a traditional closing number for many old school country and bluegrass artists.

  • @LaptopLarry330
    @LaptopLarry330 Рік тому +1

Hank Williams, Jr. does not sing that way normally. He most likely was trying to sing like Johnny Cash’s low baritone voice. “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?” was written by Ada R. Habershon and Charles H. Gabriel in 1907. Part of the song is included in the song, “Daddy Sang Bass”, which was recorded by Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, and The Statler Brothers in 1968 (and written by Carl Perkins). Johnny Cash was a great songwriter, but he was not afraid to record covers of songs by other music artists and groups. He did so all the way to the end of his life.

That song "Can the Circle be Unbroken" was written by the Carter Family using only the chorus of the gospel hymn "Will the Circle be Unbroken". The other lyrics are different, including the line "what Mother Maybelle taught us", a reference to Maybelle Carter.
And while the writer of "Jackson" never said, Johnny Cash made it clear he was singing about Jackson, Tennessee.

Hi Britt. That was Willie. Hank Jr was doing his impersonation of Johnny. late in their careers 4 of the biggest stars of country music got together and formed a super group called The Highwaymen. It was Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Check them out. They did some of each guys songs in their concerts and a song that became their signature song called The Highwayman.

That song "Jackson" would be about Jackson, Tennessee which is almost halfway between Memphis and Nashville and where Carl Perkins lived. Carl wrote and recorded Blue Suede Shoes. Carl also played guitar in Johnny's band which included fellow Jacksonian, W. S. "Fluke" Holland on drums.

Willie Nelson is the BIGGEST name and one of the BIGGEST legends to this music... I have been to probably hundreds of Willie concerts over several years... Willie is not doing so well health wise but still does hundreds of shows per year. Willie has written more songs than most ever will... Kris Kristofferson was a great song writer as well - not a great singer though... These all all legends.

Cash sang on te greatest version of "Will the Circle be Unbroken", which the Nitty Griity Dirt Band popularized on their Album, "Will the Circle be Unbroken" from 1972, which featuered some of the greatest atrtists from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
If you can find the original, it would greatly further your journey into the "Country" genre.

Lots of legends but Willie is my man. He's gotta be about 104 and still puffs away with Snoop and performs without a care in the world! There's a song called I'LL NEVER SMOKE WEED WITH WILLIE AGAIN! There's a live performance of it with I think Toby Keith, Willie and a third guy I don't know. The song is absolutely insane and if you can....pretty please with sugar on top 😊😊
