I've noticed something very interesting with the fight between this Dio and SS2 Gohan. When he started draining gohan's blood, gohan's lightening aura instead enshrouded Dio instead of him!
BrodiGameplays Shadow Dio is the Dio you see for most of Stardust Crusaders. He's much more mysterious with his moveset, and it's implied that he's still trying to learn how his stand works properly at this point.

+BrodiGameplays it's the same dio. he just stopped using a lot of his vampire powers after learning to control the world.
