BMW during that era are tough as nails. Some simple rework on the mechanicals and you're pretty much good to go.

I must have felt so scared and tense in his place, would have probably braked really hard in the middle of the ramp to avoid a dangerous crash.. really brave of him, deserved that record.

I've never really got the point of using a jump like this for distance records. Sure it takes a lot of guts to perform, but beyond that just drive fast and you win. Jumping a huge distance is a lot more impressive when you have to land it!
6:40 Man, how can you do that to an Austin Maestro and an Escort van using a BMW like that. The BMW drivers are really at it this time, it seems.

This sort of stuff is going to get insane when cars like the Tesla, that can be driverless, get more common. I can envision entire shows, like battle bots, specializing in using driverless cars to do outrageous stunts at very high speeds.

I can tell you from experience how DISTURBINGLY quiet it is up there once you leave the ramp. lol. Until Touch Down! .. A 1977 FORD Maverick, a quiet country road and the desire to fly. Long story sjort. Mission accomplished!! 314 feet from launch to land, All were impressed,, Except Caledon OPP. A record unbroken for 40 years

I want to see this redone with a smoother curvature constant radius ramp and a weighted car. A much faster car. No downforce, just pure mass and horsepower. With a long enough runway starting with a corner, reaching 350kph should be doable.
I want a smoother ramp to take bounce out and lift off at maximum compression of the springs. Heavy springs. Oh and a landing zone that is not raised above the appproach :-)

He's lucky the the roof wasnt impaled if it was a full roof flipover.
