@@MessyGarageBMW Yep, looking forward to it. I have a '19 springfield I'm gonna mod over the next year as budget allows. Looking forward to seeing what mods you decide to do. P.S. you should link this video in the springfield owners group on FB for more traffic
Hey man, nice job! Looking to redo my dark horse. Just to clarify, did you use the stock wiring? Did it reach ok? Lastly did you order new brake line / clutch cable. If so who do I order through? I Read many different articles online mentioning abs and I got overwhelmed
In the video I explain the stock wiring fits for the 16s fine you will just need to cut the zip tie holding the bundle together. I also use the stock brake line and I used a new clutch cable which I also walk through in the video. If you order from Dean Speed you can get the bars and clutch cable from them. Use messygarage coupon code for a discount on the bars.
Nice to see some current videos of owners work on a Springfield. I noticed the S&S air intake. What do you think of it? Also did you remove Cat yourself? Keep up the great work!
I like the s&s intake. I had the regular Indian stage 1 at first but wanted something a little different. The cat delete was done at the dealer along with the cams and Lloyd'z tune. I've got more content coming on this bike and some others.
Thanks for the great details. How did these change/improve your ride position? I'd like several more inches of pull back so I'm not leaning forward to get the grips. Odd since I'm 6'4" but would like a more relaxed seating position.
I'm shorter than that but feel more comfortable with these bars than stock. There just seems to be less reach (although that sounds strange to say). My arms are higher but I'm outstretched less or at least it feels that way. I love the feel and it is much more comfortable that people believe. The increased height moves the brips closer to the rider.
@@MessyGarageBMW Thank you. Do you know if you can adjust the stock handlebars (I need to move them forward) by loosening the top 2 bolts only? I cannot get to the bottom two as one may be stripped. This is why I am asking about the nacelle. Thank you again.
Do the controls have a placement pin on them that go into a hole on the stock bars? I moved my stock bars forward and need to bring the controls down some. Not sure if they can do that if they have linement pins that go into the bar. I have a 2022 Springfield Darkhorse. Thanks much!
what if I don't have a motorcycle jack, can I still loosen the frame bolts to remove and replace the clutch cable? like I can have someone holding the bike for me or using some ropes. it worries me that the weight of the bike will be resting on the wheels and not on the jack. Does it matter? btw.. thanks a lot for uploading this video, has been very educational.
You can go to something like harbor freight and get a jack like this pretty cheap. It is a small investment for a little peace of mind in my opinion. Glad the video was helpful. I have more content coming on so hope you continue watching.
Man, thanks for all the work you put in to this video. This is exactly what I've been looking for.
Thanks for watching. I have more content coming for this bike soon.

Did the break line to the hand break make it? Greetings from Sweden 👍🏼
Yes, the brake line is long enough to use the same one with these 16" bars. The clutch cable is the only one that needs changed.

What cables did you use? Do you have a link? And did you change the brake Line?
Didn't change the brake line only the clutch. Used a Barnett clutch cable I got from dean speed
good job, great ending lol
was it difficult getting the nacelle back together and lined up?
Not super difficult. A little challenge probably due to the weight and trying to line up all of the holes

@@bigdbassn4489 I would recommend getting the nacelle off and just doing all 4.
Man that is such a beautiful bike!
Thanks. Hope I have time to ride both this and the bobber.

Yes the controls have pins that line up with holes in the bars.
@@MessyGarageBMW Thanks again!
💯👍
I didn't see a link for the +4 clutch cable. Do you have a link?
I picked it up from dean-speed.com
The stock wires are good up to 16". Where would one purchase wires for 18" apes?
Not sure. Might have to cut and splice at that point.

Thanks, I think I’ll do that. Yes, keep them coming out.
apes on these bikes just look so good. do they make this style in a 1.5" diameter for an indian vintage dark horse 2021?
I don't think they have them on the site in 1.5 but they are all made to order so they might be able to do it.
@@MessyGarageBMW thanks so much, i appreciate your reply.
Those boards on the motorcycle jack are to protect the brake lines and oil plugs? Thanks, man
no. they were just to give it a more stable flat surface then the 2 rails that are on the jack.
Nice! Thanks, I went ahead and finish the handlebars and clutch cable installation. Your video was very helpful along the way, thanks again.
Why does no one use power tools?
Spoke too soon 🤣
What year is your Springfield?
2020
@MessyGarage dumb question but would the brake cable be the same length on a 22'. Tried looking it up but cant find anything.
@Israel Munoz I think the brake should be fine buy I don't have a 2022 handy to check. My 2020 and my friends 2021 both had enough brake line.
Thx for the help. Appreciate it.
